I had to listen to one particular drip so long that it gave me nightmares. I even had a basement flood that cost me $15,000 because of the gutters being messed up. But every single person I hired insisted they were correctly cleaned and aligned and that I was asking for too much. For $150 The Gutter Guys ACTUALLY cleaned and aligned the gutters PROPERLY. They threw in new screws to hold the downspouts together and re-secured them to the exterior walls. I have been telling everyone to hire these guys. For backstory: We had a leak coming into our home for a few months before their service. Since they offered a complete evaluation of the roof and gutter area, I decided to go with this team. When they finished, I reached out to receive their report via email. It came back saying everything was in good shape, so we had a contractor come out to take another look. Turns out the repair needed was so obvious to the contractor (from two stories below) that he didn't even have to use his drone to evaluate the damage. It's hard to wonder how these professionals missed such a glaring problem. Just yesterday, we had a handyman come out to do the repair and while up on the roof they noted that we even had a tile completely broken in half just above the damage to the soffet and fascia (of which you could see from below). In our experience, Chris is one of the best, highly qualified, and skilled project managers we have ever had the pleasure of encountering. We rate him 5+++ stars and more. Allow me to explain. We discovered to our surprise that we needed a roof replacement, and fast due to leaks that would only get more defective through the winter if not addressed. We have solar panels on our roof, and apparently, the bolts that secured the panels had never been sealed, thus the leaks. This was unplanned and certainly not budgeted. As a result, we created a quick RFP process to identify, qualify and secure a responsible & responsive roofing contractor, which proved to be Roofing Pups from their sales presentation in our home. Most companies would not address solar panel removal/replacement which would prolong the replacement process. Roofing Pups stated their capability to complete the entire roof replacement process seamlessly to our satisfaction at a good price. We hi8red them. We had difficulties getting answers to our follow-up materials questions prior to materials delivery and job start. Product info promised by the Roofing Pups salesman was not honored by the back office prost contracting which caused us angst, concern, and a lack of internal communication and customer service to the point where we considered canceling the contract post-contracting. Just at the point of a contract dissolution, Chris Jeffries introduced himself as the job PM. Chris was personable. He understood the information that we were requesting and why we were requesting it. He was patient with us and explained what may have been happening internally causing delay in processing our post contracting requests. In short, Chris saved this transaction from going south. Chris possesses a strong sense of customer service and empathy. He was knowledgeable, helpful, communicative and holds a good command and rapport with the sub-contractors involved. Chris made us feel comfortable from start to finish this job. He is honorable in his commitments and has a high degree of integrity in our expansive experience of dealing with numerous contractors. Kelsey came to our house on Friday around 6 pm to give us an estimate to remove the solar shingles…read moreand replace with the regular asphalt shingles. She said the best way to figure out the condition of the roof is to go inside the attic and check the roof. She pulled down the attic stair and went up into the attic. She showed us the video. The entire roof condition is really bad. There are splinters and water marks on so many plywood sheets. The solar shingles are on the front and right side of the roof. My first idea was to just replace the part of the roof where the solar shingles are. Solar shingles were placed in 2014 as part of the re-roofing job. We didn't replace the plywood at that time. We went by the company who outbid the other company by 10,000$ because they said that we didn't need to replace the plywood. They just replace the old shingles with the new shingles and adding the solar shingles. They didn't show us what was happening with the plywood at that time. Kelsey was very accommodating to my idea. She said that if I insist they can replace only the half of the roof. But she showed us that some of the plywood with regular asphalt shingles on top were bowing due to the deterioration of the plywood. She reminded us that we will need to replace that part of the roof again in a couple of years. She suggested that it is better for us for the long term to replace the whole roof. If we replace only half of it, we will face the issue of not matching the color of the shingles and the roof will leak more and may create mold problems. The plywood is from the original house. It is 55 years old. I am 82 years old and my wife is 79 years old. If I replace only half of the roof, it will become the problem of our daughter and our grand-kids within few years. We decided to replace the whole roof as suggested by Kelsey, not by pressuring us but by showing the evidence and make our own decision. Then she showed us three options, the good, the better and the best. I liked some of the items in the better option and some items in the best option. She said it is possible to combine the items but she needed to talk to her boss. She called her boss right away. Shawn, her boss, created a custom option for us the way we want to combine the items. I told her some of the wordings in the contract are not clear. I want to put it in writing in the contract that all the solar related items will be removed not just the solar shingles. When she showed us the video, we saw three brand new comforters and two-wheeled child's bike in a box way back in the attic. We don't remember when we put them there. I asked her can the workers bring those things down for us because we cannot go up into the attic anymore. She said she will arrange for that. I want that in writing also. It was about 9 pm. She told us that it will be in final contract for all the things we agreed upon because the present contract options are already computerized. We signed the contract. We paid 1/3 deposit. The rest of the money will be collected when the job is completed to our satisfaction. Shawn told us that the crew will start their work on Monday. The next morning on Saturday, I texted Kelsey that I didn't receive the new contract yet. She texted me back stating that she has an appointment at 10 am for another job. She stated that when she came back from that appointment, she would finish the new contract and sent it to me. After going back and forth for a couple of times we got the final contract from her with all the wordings we want. On Sunday, she also coordinated with her production manager, Danielle. Kelsey is the person who makes this happen. She is very pleasant. She makes sure that the customer is 100% satisfied. She is the best. Danielle called me and told me that Elvin, the supervisor of the project, will call and explain to me what will be his plan of action for tomorrow. Then Elvin called me in the evening and told me that he and his crew will be at my house between 6:30 am and 7:30 am tomorrow, that is on Monday. They arrived at 7:00 am. They covered the rose bushes around our house with tarp, hanging down from the top of the roof. Elvin brought me the 3 comforters and the bike from the attic. He took 291 pictures of the project from the start to the finish and provide me a link to my e-mail so I can view the pictures and download the ones I like. He provided the link to the pictures while the job is going on, so that I can follow the progress of the work. The workers work very hard in 96 degrees temperature. They finished the job on Tuesday evening. It took 2 days for them to finish because the weather was very hot. They clean up really good after they complete the job. They picked up all the trash and nails around the house. Leo is the solar guy. He removed all the inverters and related items from the wall without damaging the brick wall. It is a joy to work with a company with dedicated employees who care for the customer.
