Went for dinner on a Tuesday night fairly early. Sat at a table where we could see into the kitchen, where I observed the cooks preparing food with no gloves on, and eating at the same time. (unfortunately didn't see this until after our order was placed) The barmaid was refilling the straw container, shoving more in and making sure they were even by bashing them down with the palm of her hand! On the end that would go into the patrons mouths! :O Because the place is so damn expensive, I only ordered the wedges, which were ok. Hubby ordered the chicken schnitzel burger which he said was dry, the roll was hard and it was quite tasteless for $17. Son was looking forward to the crumbed tenderloins on the menu..but when we went to order there was a sign saying 'the tenderloins have been replaced by chicken nuggets", despite them being on both the online and at premises menu. He had them anyway, and was very disappointed to see 4 nuggets that had barely been cooked with a small serving of chips. It was obvious that the nuggets were pre-packaged frozen ones, and not good quality at all. It would've been far better for them to simply flour some chicken pieces and fry them! Son said there was definite room for improvement! Also got some dinner rolls, which were the 'bake at home' variety that had not even looked at an oven so tasted a bit funny and raw. The butter that came with was rock hard. Even the stubbie of beer I ordered wasn't quite cold enough...and it was over $7!
All in all I would not return...far too expensive for a pub, which had one of it's specials listed - pasta - for $35!!! And considering it was not busy, I feel there is no excuse for the poor quality of food and the hygiene standards. I'm left wondering how the health department would react to hearing food prep being done with no gloves....? read more
