I have lived at Rydal for 3 years in the independent living community. Since I joined the community, I've met some wonderful people and made great friends. There are many activities that I can choose to get involved with, and many external programs I can take advantage of such as trips to the orchestra, Broadway shows, spirit of Philadelphia, and a variety of museums. There are interesting internal entertainment for those days that I like to stay close by such as musicals, resident plays, and Wine Flight Wednesdays. We also celebrate holidays as a community, such as our annual Halloween party, New Years Party, Superbowl party, and more. The biggest reason I moved here was the direct train access to Philadelphia to continue my part-time work at one of local universities. In addition, Whole Foods is right next door which makes shopping convenient. There are a few other restaurants, a pharmacy, and clothing stores, too. read more

My mother is being terribly abused on the fourth floor called memory care - they keep saying she's falling out of bed and needs to go to medical and then she comes back with more dents in her forehead and abrasions all over her body - the quality of care is poor; we try to get her personal assistance and they won't stay because the staff is so nasty - don't put yourself through the pain and suffering of watching them mutilate and abuse your loved one - evil lurks throughout Rydal Park!!! read more

I have a friend who lived there in the apartments and then had to be transitioned into the other parts of the declining I moved her because I was extremely unhappy with the treatment I was receiving from the staff, and they were not care of her as they should have been The worst part is you think loved one is being taken care of the way you want them to be taken care of and they're really not. I had several experiences things and I did a little test and it sat in her room for two weeks before somebody did it and if you're paying $9500 a month I think should get a little bit more service than that. Their nursing staff does not give a crap about the patient... anything they don't care about the patients they just worry about doing their time and that's it. I had an issue with certain things happening and when I confronted them about it, I was basically ignored ,,, I got to the point where I stopped going to the higher-ups because they didn't care and they didn't do anything and they didn't call you back after the third time they called me at 6:30 in the morning because my friend wanted to say hello to me and that nurse knew damn well that it was 6:30 in the morning and it wasn't an emergency and called me anyhow !when that phone rings that early it's usually when something happening so I didn't appreciate that, of course nobody did anything about any of this... when I was transitioning her from her apartment into the medical facility. The employee Kim Hill basically forced me to hurry up and work my butt off because otherwise I was gonna have to pay two apartment rents and then had the nerve to ask me if she could have and My answer was absolutely not!! if wouldn't that on me and when I needed those receipts that I never got from I would've been happy to give it to her, but because of that and her pushing me to hurry up, and I'm one person I had to move everything by myself I wouldn't give her sweat in the summertime. after she ghosted me when I needed help and she totally ignored me. I never got receipts that they owed me for things that I donated so I basically i i'm not rewarding you for ignoring meand after I was did not answer any of my messages ever and tell you honestly that whole scene left a really bad taste in my mouth and then having one of the nurses be really rude and she was more worried about her stupid fake eyelashes .... Than the issue, Iwas trying to speak to her about! after all these things happened. I decided I was not happy with the care she was getting and it was very costly and that's not such an issue if they were care of I'd be OK with that but clearly nobody cared... and then I was pressured to my review down she would get better care at the office and I moved her out of there. I have never been treated so poorly by a facility ever and your you're paying $9500 a month so do yourself a favor shop elsewhere before For the price they're charging and for what they're giving you it's a joke that had to be the worst experience I ever had and this is not my first rodeo. so I think before you put your loved one there. read more

Place is very clean and staff are courteous and helpful. My Aunt stayed here and loved the staff. My Aunt said food was good and whenever she wanted a snack they got it for her. PT was good, really encouraged her when she was discouraged and didn't want to do anything. Would recommend this place based on her description and my dealings with the staff when I went to visit. read more

I got lost my first time here still get lost in the morning trying to find my truck. This place will take ur breath away. This place is beautiful. Looks like a hotel. My MIL loves staying here. They have activities just about every day if not every day. Ate mulitple times with MIL and food is fantastic. She gets a snack at night when she's peckish. She loves the staff and we're told the staff love her too. Staff has been nothing but courteous and respectful of our family. When we have a question if staff can't answer right away they always get back to us within a couple of days. I would highly recommend this place. read more

Nice place very clean, good place to have your love ones there the therapy department is definitely on point I definitely would recommend this place for rehab services, the staff here are all so friendly especially when they have enough staff, i personally would say that the staff oughta be paid much more than what they are getting, I can say this for I use to work here!!! If Rydal can step the rate of pay up... guarantee Rydal would have plenty of staff available, it's such a shame a beautiful place like such can't pay their staff what they are worth especially during these times that the economy is facing so I will Rydal four stars, but not five they need to get better with taking care their staff! read more

Rydal Park Rehab is very unprofessional. I was discharged yesterday, and I must say that their rehab staff is either understaffed or they are lazy. The day before discharge, nobody came from physical therapy to work with me. Other days the time's to meet with physical therapy were changed at the last minute without letting me know, and I would wait half a day for someone to finally come. I think that they are not organized. Choose another place, but do your homework first. read more

While the occupational and physical therapists are for the most part young, pleasant and enthusiastic, the rest of the people from the top down are mediocre at best. The oversight provided by the medical professionals is substandard, if not negligent. Most of the aides are indifferent, if not disrespectful, to the patients, who are mostly elderly. Everything that needs to be done for a patient is done at a snail's pace since there is no motivation to do otherwise. My father preferred to die in the hospital rather than return here and try to regain his strength and mobility. read more

My grandmother was here for rehab a few years ago and came back again this year out of choice and not requirement when she needed rehab again. I visited her several times and her nurses and aides were always very pleasant and attentive and she loved her physical therapist as well. read more

Sent my mother in law for rehab after hip replacement surgery. She went in healthy and 19 days later was rushed to the hospital with multiple life threatening issues. Pneumonia, sever dehydration and other complications. Staff was indifferent and Dr was not attentive to her chart and delayed in ordering fluids and antibiotics. Don't check into this place you may never leave. read more

The facilities are decent for residents in independent living but once they transition to assisted living the level of care drops considerably. Relatives of those residents will need to closely monitor the care and actively advocate for their loved ones. The Medical Center is basically adult day care with a bare minimum of medical care offered. At the first hint of any real medical need Rydal will send that resident to the hospital. For example, my Father was sent to the ER because Rydal said he had a prolapsed rectum but all he had were sores. Another time Rydal sent him to the ER the doctor on duty at the hospital said my Father was profoundly dehydrated. When asked about this Rydal claimed that their records show my Father was refusing fluids (which is not true) yet they made no attempt to contact his family. While Rydal May appear nice at first glance it is a business and care more about making money than resident care. I would not recommend Rydal for anyone other than those who can live independently. read more

I left my mom here as per recommendation of Jefferson Health Care in Abington. She was suffering from advance congestive heart-failure and needed care to prevent fluid build-up in here lungs. On first morning I visited her only to find her heavily sedated , unattended and placed in a wheelchair chair in front of a TV. There is NO quality care here, no continuity of care and the majority of the staff do not care about their charges. Later in the cafeteria, I found another abandoned elder, crying for help to be taken back to his room. I asked the staff for help and they laughed, say " Oh he always does that." You really do not want to leave anyone under their "care". I strongly believe that the poor quality care she received here significantly contributed to my moms untimely demise read more

My father's quality of life, from his entry into Rydal Park in 2011 until his passing in June 2020 was significantly enhanced, in a myriad of ways, during his stay there. He developed caring relationships with several of the residents there, all of whom had rich histories. These relationships kept him mentally active and provided daily energy for him. Innumerable members of the staff knew him and expressed their fondness for him. Of course, this was a by-product of my father's driving interest in people as a whole, but the reciprocity exhibited by the staff was especially comforting. When there was a shift in his health precipitating the need for additional medical services, those services were timely and appropriately provided. Looking back now there is no question in my mind, or those of my siblings, that had my father NOT had the privilege to live within the multi-faceted environment at Rydal Park, the last chapter of his life would not have been as life-affirming and life-extending as it was. read more

The care is inadequate. Communication with family regarding patient progress and plan for healing is poor.

Worst place ever. Only go there if you are sending your loved one to die. Mother was healthy when she went there but needed some rehab after a fall. Went in on Friday and Sunday we rushed her to the hospital because they had OD'd her on pain pills. She was practically comatose and the doctor called in a reduction of meds only after we freaked out on her. Staff is too busy talking amongst themselves to bother with the patients. Only a few people there that care but they are not the caretakers. Run don't walk from this place. I would give a 0 but one star is the lowest. read more
