When I contacted Ryco Electric, the office manager did not respond to multiple calls. I asked only to be reimbursed for the cost of having another company fix Ryco's mistake. Instead of standing behind their work, Ryco Electric told me to contact the manufacturer even though Ryco purchased and installed the garage opener. Their office manager was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to help resolve the issue in any way. Based on my experience, the poor workmanship, lack of accountability, and refusal to correct their own mistake, I strongly recommend using another company. If you read their Yelp reviews, you'll see others have described similar experiences, including dishonesty and scamming behavior. I regret using Ryco Electric and wish I had gone with someone else. Marc came to my house and looked at the outside Electrical Riser that Home Serve said was under warranty. Left and never gave a repair estimate or a time to return for the simple repair. LACK OF INTEGRITY... We have a home warranty through NIPSCO, and on December 12, 2024, they sent Ryco Electric to handle our claim for repairing a Genie garage door opener. The Ryco technician told me the motor was out and that it was covered under our warranty. However, he then claimed that I needed to bring the garage "up to code" before they could fix it. I immediately had a licensed general contractor inspect the garage the next day, December 13, 2024. The contractor confirmed there was no code issue and even offered to provide a written statement. Despite this, Ryco insisted I needed to purchase their new garage door opener for over $500, which they said would not be covered by the warranty. When I declined and requested they simply repair the motor as initially promised, the situation took a troubling turn. On or around December 17, 2024, Ryco contacted NIPSCO and falsely claimed that my garage door spring was broken, which led to my warranty claim being denied. This blatant dishonesty has caused significant hardship for my family. Since December 12, we've had to manually lift and close our garage door every time we leave or return home--in the dead of winter, no less. After a great deal of frustration and repeated appeals, NIPSCO finally agreed to send a second contractor. This contractor inspected the door and confirmed that the issue was straightforward: the motor was out, just as Ryco originally stated. Yet, because of Ryco's false claims, NIPSCO has delayed resolving the issue for almost two months. I am now forced to wait an additional 7-10 business days for an answer from NIPSCO on my appeal. I firmly believe Ryco Electric lied about the condition of my garage door to pressure me into purchasing their expensive system instead of fulfilling their obligation to repair mine. This behavior is unacceptable. Calling someone a liar is harsh, but it fits: Ryco's actions reflect greed and a blatant lack of integrity. I would never trust this company to perform any work in my home. I also hold NIPSCO accountable. I've been a loyal home warranty customer for over 15 years, but their service has drastically declined. It's clear they're struggling to secure reputable contractors because they don't pay fair market rates. This is deeply disappointing from a company I once trusted. Avoid Ryco Electric at all costs--they prioritize profit over honesty and customer service. And if you're considering a NIPSCO home warranty, think twice. They installed a garage door opener and completely installed it incorrectly causing it to almost fall on a child and I had to pay almost $200 for someone to come fix it. Owner didn't even have the decency to call me back. I requested payment for their mistake and nothing was done. I am looking into this company and will file a suit against them. I hope they are insured as it will be looked into as well. Horrible experience and I hope no one uses them. Very disappointed with this company. They were hired for an electrical job and could not complete it correctly. I had to call another electrician to fix the mistakes they left behind. The technician name MARK came in to my place to fix garage door switch and found out the problem was the switch by the wall. He want to replace it with the doorbell switch claiming that is the standard factory switch. I called the company and telling me I am asking for upgrade and they cannot do the upgrade. read more

We reached out to Ryco on July 1st to get an appointment to have wiring in our house more evenly spilt amongst the breakers, adding more if needed. The person we spoke with was kind and helpful. After sending pictures, they were able to create an estimate, and schedule an appointment for July 10th. An electrician from Ryco showed up on time, and even called 10 minutes before arriving to remind us of the appointment. The electrician decided to do a diagnostic, instead of the original appointment because it turns out the project would be a little more complicated than anticipated. The electrician spent a good chunk of time determining what each breaker does, examining outlets and switches, and determining what materials would be needed. The electrician shared that they would have to speak with people at the office to create an updated estimate and someone would get back to us. We never heard back from anyone at Ryco, so we decided to give them a call on July 22nd. The person we spoke with this time shared that there is absolutely no information in their system regarding the appointment from July 10th and asked for a dispatch number. We shared that we were not given any paperwork, nor did we have any emails or voicemails to confirm anything. However, we did share the electrician's name and a manager's name that had approved the estimate. They told us, that they would have to talk to some people at the office then get back to us. We received a call back later in the day on July 23rd stating that they would have no one available to complete the scope of our project anytime soon, and suggested that we find another company. We feel like we were ghosted by Ryco. We wish that Ryco would have documented our conversation and estimate. We wish that Ryco would have called after the electrician completed the diagnostic to let us know that there schedules are currently full, as that would have given us the option to wait or seek out a different company. Instead we were encouraged to find another company after being left in the dark for two weeks. This experience has been beyond disappointing, especially as we specifically selected Ryco because of a positive experience we had a few years back. We would have happily waited for an available appointment in the future, but we were pushed away. We hope Ryco treats the rest of their customers better than they treated us. read more

Terrible company to work with. AHS sent them they misdiagnosed a simple loose wire in an outlet and told AHS they need wall access to diagnose the issue further after the first visit. When I called Ryco the manager said she recommend have an electrical guy do the wall access instead of someone else and said since it needs wall access the claim is denied until i provide wall access. But never told me exactly where to provide wall access which side of the bedroom. Bottom line, THEY misdianosed and caused the claim to be denied due to wall access and then didn't provide were the access was needed and was not available to do the work for a month even if I paid them for the wall access. I m glad I sent another tech who diagnosed and fixed the issue in about an hour so that my wall didn't need torn down. Terrible company to say the least. Misdiagnose, bad comm with warranty company and not giving me info or AHS where exactly wall access was needed but told AHS wall access needed before they can diagnose further. Basically put me in a spot after wrong diagnosis and AHS didn't allow second opinion because they caused the claim to be denied due to their wrong diagnosis saying wall acess is needed just to put back a loose wire in one of the bedroom outlet. Awful. It's eerie reading the other reviews that have used these guys through American Home Shield as we had a similar experience. We needed a bathroom fan motor repair and they said that it was due to a leak-which then made it outside of my warranty coverage so AHS denied it. It wasn't due to a leak, it was normal bathroom condensation on a 14 year old fan. AHS offered us to have a different vendor come out for another service call fee second opinion which I said no to. We still need the fan replaced so called multiple times, left multiple messages with Ryco, since they knew the issue. I finally got a hold of someone that just answered the phone "hello" no identification as a business...I asked if they could provide an estimate for the repair and they said they don't have time due to all of the warranty requests they are getting, and to call back in THIRTY DAYS if I still wanted to use them for the repair. I suspect are pocketing the money from these calls and not doing the work..like others have said. I also dropped AHS after this and going with a local repair company. read more

Horrible service, technician came out and refused to look in our attic because it was "too hot" and "I don't have time to fix this." He then left and wrote a report to our warranty company that the electrical work had been tampered with so he would not run electricity to our air handler. We have scheduled service through our home warranty company twice in a week, had to rearrange our schedules both days to accommodate, and both days they failed to come. There is a gate on our community and they simply need enter our last name or a code (provided) and he claims he was unable to access the property and marked the job complete. I missed a call from him and within 3 minutes called him 6 times without an answer with multiple voicemails left. It was not a call from the gate to the house. The customer service line refuses to call the technician who is avoiding our call. We can not continue to reschedule for them to not show up or be confused by a simple gate with a call box with clear instructions. They seem unphased by the fact that we have stayed home 2 days and wasted our days waiting for them to either not show up or be confused by an easy to follow gate control system. I have asked the warranty company to assign a new electrician and want to be sure they are not charging them for these trips on some type of fraudulent scheme. They can not be trusted. They do not care how terrible their service is or how inconvenient it is for customers. Avoid this business if possible. read more

I'm not sure if they do good electric work, but this place does terrible business. I scheduled with them through American Home Shield. My home is without power, and they tell me that they can't get to me for an entire week. Yes, that's right... 7 days! The lady tells me that they would be in my area a few days sooner and get a lot of cancellations. I call the company to check in, and no answer. I called four more times throughout the day- still no answer! The AHA rep even called them and emailed them... and No Answer! At that point, I requested a different company. First, they have me wait an entire week... while my food and other things go bad. And now, they can't even answer the phone? This wasn't a good experience at all. I see that they have some other poor reviews for poor service because they are trying to rush. SMH. read more

We had a couple of issues with a home that was just purchased. Luckily we had a home warranty and the electrical issues were covered. This is the company that we were referred to by the warranty company and they fixed our problems. They were on time and responsive to our call. diagnosed issue - and wrote that we had replaced the fan and installed it poorly after a conversation where we said we did not touch it- the house is 2 years old - we put a home warranty on it because we don't know to fix things- we are not DYI people. he flat out LIED. I heard the conversation from my home office - he did not know I was there. The Home Warranty company is sending different company - who will not discriminate against Hispanic families. Discrimination is real - perhaps he felt we shouldn't have good service, or he simply didn't want to come back to our Hispanic home in Westfield IN - in a very nice neighborhood- My heart breaks a little bit every time my husband experiences discrimination. Thankfully, it is not often. I would not recommend this company to anyone. My home warranty American Home Shield assigned Ryco Electric to do some electrical work in my family room. I had no power. The technician came out and check the breaker box and then proceeded to check the light switches. He was in my dining area checking for power. He then was checking my ceiling light fixture and pulled at the glass and drop it with glass everywhere. He immediately went to the family room and started checking the wall plugs and evidently found the bad one. I had to clean up all the glass and after he left I discovered he never put the breaker box cover back on. What a mess. I called the company four days later inquiring if the technician had informed them of the damages or did a incident report and the office was not aware of any issues that occurred. I told them I had to replace the light fixture due to wiring hanging and light blub displayed due to no cover. They said a manager would contact me . I have left 3 msgs no one has called me back. The light fixture cost me $65.00 plus tax and I had to pay to have it installed. i also sent them a copy of the receipt with a note. I also informed American Home Shield as well of my displeasure. I was denied my claim, but the electrician told me that Ryco would call me within a few hours with a quote to fix my issue. They never did. Run from Ryco Electric and DO NOT deal with if possible!! Contractor arrived to repair a ceiling fan. Now, the technician messed up and All of my homes electric wiring has been rerouted, leaving me with no electricity in my house for 2 days going on 3 because the company is impossible to get a hold of. Ryco Electric never answers the phone and never returns voicemail messages. I contacted AHS home warranty and they were unable to contact this company as well. I spoke with representatives Mark and Jael (supervisor) whom stated I would probably receive a call back for rescheduling in 24-48 hours. Ryco Electric is incompetent and uses an unacceptable practice! I now don't have electricity in my home going on 3 days now, so American Home Shield had the audacity to tell me I have to continue to wait for Ryco to reach out regardless of their mess up with my wiring on their part. We are using Ryco through American Home Shield and expecting they are good. That's a simple ballast replacement. It took them a whole week to come and tried to downgrade our light with $18 light for the kitchen. I explained that I need a brighter kitchen light. THEY THREATENED ME IT IS GOING To BE ANOTHER COUPLE WEEKS TO ORDER A NEW BALLAST if I declined the ugly flush mount. We are going to have a Christmas without a kitchen light. I felt really uncomfortable with the way they are handling the issue. I am filing a complaint with American Homeshield. We are not paying a lot of money for this slow service. read more
