DR. NASTY!! Patient is always wrong, clueless, or stupid in…read morehis world. Never a positive thing to say. Never any encouragement to motivate his patient. Only continuous criticism of any comment or concern we offer. He is incredibly disrespectful each and every time we have a follow up visit. Dr. Nasty to ruin your day! Seriously extremely poor interaction with us. We are apparently not the only ones feeling this way. Other reviews also address his nasty attitude. Just say no when offered Dr Shuler as a physician. He will only make you feel stupid and useless as a patient. Worst physician we have interacted with in over 50 years! Classic example of a seemingly intelligent Dr., with absolutely no communication skills whatsoever. Maybe a skilled surgeon, but it doesn't matter if he can't give a patient the hope and confidence one needs to feel from the doctor in order to mentally progress thru a traumatic injury. Not the only one to have posted about his negative and extremely mean demeanor.

So this all started 2 years ago when dr stuart gardner replaced my right knee..day after surgery…read morethe knee was literally clunking..was worse than my knee with no meniscus..he said it still needed to heal..6months later my left hip popped out mowing the grass..found out I have hip impingement in both hips..deformity yay...anyway gardner replaced hip ..when I was allowed to step on it my first time putting weight on it(I'm 6ft 2 230 ..big guy..the implant dropped 3 cm into my femur and I fell..went to see dr stuart and he said sorry we are closing down today..no joke...southwest ortho in blacksburg..so I went to bruce byrd at orthovirginia in blacksburg...he replaced a piece in hip.not whole thing...then not long after I was standing up using my right knee as support and the messed up implant in knee tweaked to far and I lost balance barely above the couch..I shifted weight to left leg instinctively and top of my femur shattered..that healed quickly but the cup of the old hip insert finally was damaged enough and my left hip dislocated 3 times in next 2 weeks..long story short we found infection in my joint...probably was reason nothing worked correctly..bruce byrd removed it completely in May of last year...months of antibiotics later I go to see him to schedule hip and he doesn't want to do surgery..wanted another Dr to come down.i asked if he could do it and he said yes..so I said he is gonna put it back in..I did an aspiration and they found no fluid so I asked to schedule hip and he said no now he wanted to do an mri..I said nope..I'm hiv positive and any extra hospital visits could give me a worse infection.my infectious disease dr chaudry said I was good to go infection wise months ago and wondered why my hip was still out..at that point bruce byrd stopped calling me back and I was forced to fire him..made appointment with dr stewert at the carilion and got another aspiration xray and needed an mri..I can't lay in them..15 joint surgeries..so I asked him for 1 pill to get through it and he says ask robin akers my pcp..made sense and I did.she says no it's on him not her..again..1 pill of there choice and I had a driver..nope..I called stewert back and talked to Natasha his nurse and accidentally said 2 cuss words with no intent or context..I apologize immediately and she says no problem sweety...so I end up going to mri after a beer and one of my dogs painpills.barely got through it..2 days later I go to see stewert and when my girl and I get there there's a cop up front..I say my name to lady and he immediately looks at his notebook..weird...we get put in office and stewert and nurse come in..he looks at me all goofy and says your good to go for hip but we won't do it because of cussing phone calls and my old surgeon byrd called and sayed I threatened him over phone..it was a message I left saying if u see me in public go the other way because I don't ever want to see him again..not a threat at all.ive got 1 leg.lol.dang....anyway instead of freaking out like they thought I would I said have a nice day and we left crying..my report says that I said I drank before last visit..sorry it was 2 days earlier and yup I did..says I denied taking narcotics...wtf..I asked him for 1...and threatening and cursing phone calls..they would of had me arrested if any of it was true..so made up..and because I have medicaid I can't sue and get my hip and life back..

I saw Dr. Kagey a couple of years ago for a hydrocele. He operated on me, and things were ok at…read morefirst. A few months after, the swelling got worse. I told him I thought it was coming back. He dismised that, saying it was a hematoma and I needed to wait. A month or so later, it had continued to swell. He did an ultrasound, but again told me it was a hematoma and I'd just have to wait. I questioned him, as I was really sure the hydrocele was back. He got RUDE. No matter what I said, he had something to say back to dismiss me. Said that I "moved a certain way" and that caused an injury. I went to a different urologist and had another ultrasound. Even the tech doing the scan could tell it was a hydrocele. Now, I've still got this thing, and with the virus out there, don't want to have surgery now, plus I don't have someone to help while I can't drive if I did have the surgery. Don't go to Kagey unless you have to.

Doctor Moyer was patient with me and answered all my question at our initial visit. The morning of surgery I was confident I had a skilled and caring surgeon operating on me and was excited to be in excellent care. After foot surgery, I have more problems than before. After over a year, now my leg is numb. I went to UVA and Dr Park prescribed therapy. Clements never prescribed therapy. Dr Park said he could redo the surgery if I wanted. He said he would've done it a little different. Go the distance to UVA.
