Extremely disappointing. This was our 5th real estate transaction using the Ryan Law Group. Deanna and her team dropped the ball at our last purchase, and it cost us a lot of extra money, the opportunity to finance on a timely basis, and countless sleepless nights because unknown to us, our "3 flat" did not have a valid certificate of occupancy. This was our 5th purchase of an income property using The Ryan Law Group. At the closing, the seller indicated there was an injunction on the building in 1997. Ryan Law Group said the injunction had been resolved and "stamped", so all was OK. News to us... it wasn't. We couldn't finance, and when we asked Deanna for assistance - a phone call. a reply to an email, an explanation or direction on how to resolve this, she emailed "sorry I was in a meeting. You knew you had an injunction, and now you have to fix it". Prior, or at the closing, the seller should have been directed to clean up their mess (from 1997). We had to hire a new attorney (who couldn't believe the building was sold to us in the first place with a 21 year old injunction), decommission an old attic apartment, pay the city, get a city inspection, and wait to see if our building was a 2 flat or a 3 flat. Several months, and several thousands of dollars. No response, ever, from Deanna or her team. If you want beautiful sassy attorneys, hire The Ryan Law Group. If you want a clear title, hire someone else. read more

I really can't say enough about Deanna and the rest of the Ryan Law team. I was introduced to the firm through my realtor about 5 years ago, and they helped me with buying my first place. A couple of years later, I was having issues with our condo neighbor, so I reached out to Deanna again to ask a legal question - not really expecting much of a response. Not only did she respond, Deanna was incredibly thoughtful and provided me with excellent advice, reviewing my condo bi-laws to help me learn my rights. She even dealt with the neighbor in question, so I got to just tell him "you can talk to my attorney" which kept him out of my hair for awhile. Fast forward a few years, and I got the chance to hire Deanna again to help with the condo sale. I was in the process of moving to a new state at the time, and she (and her team) made the whole sale quite easy and painless. The experience is awful from the beginning. In short, her firm is unprofessional, uncourteous and unreliable in communication and preparing documents. They took a lot of money from us and provided minimum and bad service. We wish we had chosen different attorney and hope everyone does the same. When we first inquired about the service and fee, Deanna was very quick in replying to us. But once, we decided to go with her group, it became a disaster. She waited until 30 minutes before the initial review period was due to send out the document to the seller's party. We did not have any time to review and discuss about what she sent. When we asked, she just said this is just standard procedure. We had to research online and tried to educate ourselves about the process. * She made a big mistake about the tax proration. Our property is in Evanston and she wrongly put 2015 as a reassessment year (it should be 2016). Fortunately, we found out and corrected it. Otherwise, we had to pay more for tax in 2016. * We could not contact her on phone or email until the last 2 days before the attorney review deadline. Feeling very frustrated, my wife had to compile a list of responses herself and sent to her. At the end, Deanna just literally took what my wife sent her to send to the seller's attorney. We feel that we did more work than her in this transaction. * One day before the closing day, Deanna's assistant sent out an email. They did not specify anything about instructions to pay the closing cost. Instead, they asked us to contact the lender directly. Worst than ever, she put in the wrong lender in the email and recipient. We switched lender couple days in the process and did notify them immediately. But they probably had trouble in communication among their team. * On the closing day, Deanna's assistant, Emily came in late by 15 minutes. She was unprepared and unprofessional. She had to take time to read about the documents which we didn't think she went through before. She explained to us the documents so fast and we had to ask her to slow down. - She totally missed on one page of the loan document where the lender put "30 year term" instead of "15 year term". We had to find that out ourselves and contacted the lender to fix it. - She was not able to answer our questions about tax proration, pre-paid HOA fees and the seller's attorney had to step in and show us the calculation. - She left early before we could get the keys and documents because she had to run for another closing. We can't trust someone who comes late and leaves early for such a big transaction. read more

Twice Deanna has helped us through two not-so-easy transactions and as long as she's in business, I will use her services and recommend her every chance I get. She is bright, sharp as a tack, knows her stuff, is responsive at all hours, plus is super friendly, peppy and nice; don't get me wrong though, if you get into nitty gritty ugly parts, she is one tough woman. I would not want to be on the wrong side of her. Due to a scheduling snafu, she wasn't able to attend our last closing but she sent her associate Emily who is every bit as fantastic and tough as Deanna.
