This is my first of a multi-part series, because our ranch home (Grand Cayman, with full basement) is still under construction, completion expected around 10/24/2022. Bottom line, so far, so good. We've had good communication with the sales agent Mike Bauer and excellent updates and details from Sam A., the project manager. When we drove over last weekend and looked things over again ourselves, I sent multiple questions to Sam, and he answered back promptly, clearly, and courteously to all my questions. He put my mind at ease about some things I thought could be problems but in reality were not. I suppose if I have any complaint at all it is the drainage swale (ditch) that will be in our front yard just before the sidewalk, since I wasn't expecting to have that (will be a bit of a pain to mow, maybe).
We opted to finance through Ryan's parent company NVR, since they're paying most of the closing costs. While their loan APR was pretty much in the middle of the pack of others we checked, their initial loan processor was very nice to work with, even though some of their underwriters' hard-nosed policies were hard to swallow (not the loan processor's fault). More to follow. Bottom line: so far, so good. read more
