Overview of the place in the food court of Carrefour Laval.
    Sushi X.

    1. Sushi quality 3/5 2. Overall food 2/5 3. Experience 2/5 4. Service 3/5 5. Price value 2/5 ~Average 2.4 1. The sushi was definitely not bad by any means. Taste-wise, it was a delightful experience. The employees were very keen on drowning the simple ebi tempura hosomaki that I had ordered with sauce, specifically their house sauce in addition to spicy mayonnaise. I refused the second sauce as I was seeing my sushi struggling to stay at the surface of the liquid, but it was in Québec and I am aware of their love for sauce, so that was partly excused. I was thankfully able to order "fresh", and skipped the option to buy from their refrigerator. The sushi made on the spot was much better looking compared to their refrigerated counterpart. 2. The overall selection of food isn't amazing, but pretty good for small-size restaurants. This criterion lost a lot of points due to the refrigerated food, which is very visible upon entering inside. The food there looked very bland and old, and definitely was far from its freshest state. 3. The experience was quite interesting. I'll leave the part where I needed to speak French to order because I nearly switched to English and it got confusing, but the best part was seeing the employees make the rolls. It was like a talent show, but the ones you have in high school or elementary where a few people mess up their act. It wasn't great. I saw my ingredients being dropped on the cutting board, being placed meticulously on top of the roll, then falling again, and finally poorly placed in a fashion that allowed them to stay on the roll. The cutting motions were also off, and there was no rhythm to the dance. Fortunately, the taste was less bland than the act. 4. Average at most. The service wasn't bad, but not exceptional either. The workers were friendly and patient, and fast enough. For a restaurant inside a mall, it got the job done. 5. The food bowls seemed to have the best calorie/dollar ratio, but were still expensive. The "freshly" made rolls however took the cake as the most expensive items on the menu. I made sure to order a cheap and simple roll as it was a first-time experience for a person I brought with me, but even that came to around $13, for just eight pieces. The only addition to the ebi tempura roll was a piece of avocado that took too long to place on top. The other rolls, after Québec's higher tax rates, were all nearing $15-17. Definitely way too expensive for simple mall sushi. - As I stated in paragraph 5, I was accompanied by a friend that day. That person had never tasted sushi before, and was grouped alongside other haters of the dish that are turned off by the "raw fish". For that reason, I picked the ebi tempura roll as a first experience. I knew that based on what I saw, the choice was safe, and that most people generally do enjoy that roll. It was received pleasantly, and now that person is at least open to the idea of trying more in the future. I was just passing by on a trip and decided to stop at the first sushi restaurant I saw, and Ryu was the one. Lastly, I didn't see any dragon rolls on the menu or other food items that could be related to the restaurant's name, so that was a bit disappointing. A mid-tier experience, but not a bad one.

From what I noticed the menu is the same from Tuesday to Thursday and then they have a separate menu for Friday to Sunday. Some of the rolls were different then other all you can eat places so we tried those. For the weekly menu they do not offer sashimi only nigiris. The price per person is approximately 28$ tax in. I definitely recommend this place. Service was really good and the food was coming out pretty fast. The sushi and the fried stuff were to our liking. We had to call to get reservations because they don't have a website but when we went it seemed like ppl were coming in without reservations The only bad thing about this place was the ice cream, I got the green tea ice cream but it has a powdery feeling/ taste. Which I don't recommend. This place is good for small groups. I would go back definitely

Half the sushi's were good typical AYCE quality, the other half were pretty bad, greasy fried bits, not fresh and crispy. AVOID syake tempura and crevette tempura (huge ball of greasy fried fish), crispy maki, original futomaki, tori age, dragon eye. DO TRY maki de tartar and exotique. The service was very good and quick no complaints there.

They quickly explained the menu and took our order. We were, then, served some yummy green tea. It's a very nice atmosphere, they have acoustic pop music playing and the place isn't too over the top. It's perfect for a lunch or dinner date! Our food arrived promptly and it was delicious! The miso soup was nice however I really liked the green salad. I don't usually like dressings but I really liked this ginger vinaigrette. As for the sushi, it was very well done with fresh ingredients. My mom plays it safe and always goes for the California so I couldn't explore much but I liked everything we ordered and will be back to try their other choices! Aside from the food, kudos on a speedy service, cleanliness, beautiful serving dishes and super friendly customer service!

I also ordered the Grilled Pork Ramen, and it was savoury, but delicate. It wasn't swimming in fat or grease from the grilled meat. So it was perfect. Id stop by if you'd like great sushi, but you might want to try the excellent ramen when it's cold outside this Fall.

On February 21 at 6:00 p.m., we were four people at Torii Sushi in Laval to celebrate a birthday. The sushi and their presentation are at the forefront of Japanese cuisine. Everything was truly exquisite. For this evening, we spent close to $400, and from a culinary standpoint, the experience met expectations. Unfortunately, the service completely ruined the evening. The cavalier manner in which the assistant manager practically showed us the door is unacceptable. A serious lack of judgment and tact. We regularly visit restaurants in Montreal and Laval, and never -- I repeat, never -- have we been treated this way. Being rushed like that in front of our guests, during a birthday celebration, is frankly humiliating. We felt ashamed of the situation. At 6:00 p.m., we certainly did not expect to have to cut our evening short. The message was clear: "Eat, spend, and free the table quickly -- other customers are waiting." An establishment that positions itself as a high-end experience cannot afford such a lack of respect. Never again. Review based on our personal experience, honest and factual.

The service was weird because she didn't bring us the utensils and napkins until after our food was served. Everything was done afterwards. It wasn't even prepared for us. The big plate was chipped and damaged. It's not presentable, they should just replaced it. Always keep good dishes and never serve broken dishes to customers. The desserts were fried small bananas.
