I needed to update professional headshots and got the package with makeup (well-worth it and a must-have I think) with Janelle as the make-up artist and Samantha as the photographer- a superstar team. Samantha was excellent, experienced, fast, and knew exactly what would look good on camera and captured everything I could ask for. Janelle did amazing makeup and was exceptional, making me feel very comfortable and listening closely to what I was hoping for and helped a lot with optimal styling of hair, makeup, etc. This is my third time to return to City Headshots...with the first two times working with Martin about 10 years ago. They have been really excellent all three times, and I would definitely go back again. The booking process and early communications are automated and streamlined. The experience in person is very tailored and personalized and the studio space in Midtown is easy to get to and has a nice comfortable waiting room. We just enjoyed an 8-day Summit with Gary's Loft as our venue - 32 global peace-making teens and 32…read moreglobal mentors and 32'ish other global team members and facilitators - making use of floor 11 and 12 (Penthouse) and occasionally the Rooftop (opening and closing ceremony days) - and wow - we all came away rejuvenated and smiling. For an event this long and this intense and with this many people - it is hard to find a "perfect space" in nyc. We have been hosting this annual event since 2008, and while it is true, no place is ever absolutely perfect (nor does it really have to be) - this place totally rocked. Large. Spacious. Clean. White walls (great for photos and videos). Bright. Beautiful ambience and decorations (almost like spending a week in someone's nifty home - with kitchen and library and family room and even laundry room decor and furniture). Trendy. Aiccessible (even for this power wheelchair user). Safe and secure. Well-staffed (with friendly folks - who allowed our teens a bit of bonus access to the rooftop on a lovely day - st no extra charge, but it provided them and a needed mid-week recharge during intensely long work days. Front door desk assistance. Working elevators. Space for us to bring in "a full kitchen" (really - 3 meals and 2 snacks home cooked each day by our team - representing global cuisine across the week!). And so much more... (including the nifty convenience of being just steps from our host hotel - Executive Le Soleil! Yes, there are a few tweakable this-and-thats I could offer. But those are more the type of things that our team and the Gary's Loft team can consider and tend to for future events (2020 Just Peace Summit - only 11 1/2 months away!). I randomly came across Lighthouse while doing an internet search for renting a Glidecam camera rig and my interest was peaked by their low rates. Naturally, having never heard of or rented from them before, I gave a call just to get a lay of the land, see how they work. I was somewhat dumbfounded when the guy who spoke to me was belligerent almost from the get go (turns out, unbelievably, he was one of the owners of the place, his name was Thibault.) Asking normal professional questions - I was either cut off or spoken over, the guy telling me multiple times that he "didn't need to explain how he did business". Umm, not the best way to address a potential client. These are all very bad signs and despite all the other reviews here I would steer very clear. I wanted to write this as a warning for others. A rental house that is not professional will bite you in the behind in the long run. AVOID.

I went and checked out all the usual big names (Adorama, CSI, foto care), but I felt as though I should be able to get more for my money. That, combined with the motivation from having a tight production budget (understatement of the century) lead me to stumbling upon Lighthouse. I will admit that I was initially skeptical about getting a 5D (from a shop I've never heard of) with a 32GB CF card when other companies were charging the same, or much more, for only a 8GB card. But in the end, I had no choice. All the other outfits had either rented out the 5D already, or the cost was too hard to justify. So I went ahead and set up an account with them, and came in the next day to pick up the 5D along with a shotgun mic, tripod, light, and light stand. I could not have been happier with the customer service. Thibaut was very patient with me as I threw a ton of questions at him on how to maximize the production quality on such a small budget. I think I actually like that Lighthouse is still relatively unknown amongst the other camera rental shops since I would have never been able to get a 5D on such short notice otherwise. But all good things come to an end I suppose. If you're reading this, then you're most likely debating to rent from them or not, but with their competitive prices and their healthy supply of equipment, how could you not?** ** Unless, of course, you're a Nikon fanboy like I am :). Unfortunately, this is purely a Canon shop as far as DSLRs go.

Especially since we knew we would be running around and the time would pass by really fast. So we searched all over for photographer/videographers. We saw a sample of Spike's work through a friend's friend and contacted him right away. He was really responsive and transparent. We asked for samples of his work and he delivered. We asked for meetings, he met with us. He had been great throughout. We are an interracial couple so on the wedding day, we did ceremonies from both sides on ONE day. They worked non-stop that day and we really appreciated that. We had a really packed agenda for the ceremonies and the reception. Spike and his team were really patient and kind to everyone. He was also really funny because we're not the best with poses. Because it was wedding season, we didn't get our pictures until a month after but it was okay! We loved the highlight video, the full video, and all the pictures that were taken. We would definitely recommend him to whoever is searching for a photographer/videographer.

We had multiple events that he recorded - 3 to be exact totaling probably 11-14 hours all together, but the raw footage he sent us is ONLY 5 hours. His work blatantly is horrible. He didn't even have guidance or ideas for good pictures. I was picking the scenery/ poses instead of the photographer/ owner of the company himself Corey! I have friends who have better pictures of me and themselves at my wedding than what Corey "professionally" took! If u paid a deposit, get it back. If you're stuck with him, don't pay him in full until you get your pictures/ video. You'll know what I mean! From my wedding of 3 different events over 12-14 hours... I have a total of 4 pictures of me and my husband that I like.

Working with Faymus Media has been a terrible experience since day 1. I found Corey (owner) on…read moreThumbtack and spoke directly with him before I hired him for my brother's wedding. He went through everything I could expect to receive with his videographer package, promised me multiple times the services would be for the ENTIRE day with full reception included, and he also spoke to HIS experience with Greek weddings and made me believe he would be filming the wedding. When the day came, another random subcontractor showed up to film and disappeared 2.5 hours early from the reception without a word. Aside from the bridal party, we had 0 footage of anyone dancing at the reception because of this. He reimbursed me slightly, but I will still never have the footage which is upsetting. It is now 12 weeks after the wedding, and I still have not received my 30-90min ceremony film that I was promised, and Corey will hardly respond to my emails and calls, but when he did, he decided to blame the videographer he hired for this. The videographer then told me Corey never paid him at all for any of his work and wouldn't let him create the film for me, so I have no idea who is telling me the truth, or why I still haven't received everything I paid for, but the process has been so miserable. I do not recommend Faymus Media to anyone. They tell you one thing and do another, and have no regard for customer service or make any attempt to fix their wrongs or deliver on their promises.
