The store is large but not gigantic and, more importantly, seems logically laid out. Costco seems disorganized and as large as an airport terminal. Sam's feels friendly while Costco seems very institutional to us. Sam's gasoline is fine but Costco definitely has a larger and more convenient station but virtually everything else is better at Sam's. The baked goods section is gigantic and brimming with delicious things; I swear we gain five pounds just walking through the bakery and smelling. The people working at Sam's also seem very personable. It's difficult to draw direct price comparisons but we feel like prices are higher at Costco than at Sam's. Several years ago, I had Sam's install tires on one of my cars and I was impressed with the service and the price-match policy they offered. Finally, and this is very informal and subjective but the Sam's Club pizza and hot dogs at the cafe are way, way better than Costco offerings and the seating area is larger and more comfortable.

Homemade style soups are always available on their hot bar, and some are prepackaged cold. Our favorites are their Corn Chowder, Lobster Bisque, and their Corn and Shrimp Chowder. The only downside is the price. You get it by the pound, and if you use the big container, you could easily spend almost $10. That's a bit steep for maybe two portions, but the quality really is amazing. They run great deals on things like frozen pizza! Cat food and litter is reasonable as well. Two 20 pound containers of litter is maybe a dollar or two more than one 40 pound container at Target or Walmart, so it really isn't worth the drive when we can just grab this at Karns. North Middleton got a great boost when Karns brought groceries back to this side of town!

I ended up taking the long way around to get home in order to come here, but if I had not done that, I probably would not have gotten to one of these until I headed home after the weekend. Pennsylvania does not have many of these, mostly around higher populated communities. So no where near where I was going to be. Made my route here and parked. Ran inside with my list of items. Mostly nonessential items that I wouldn't have to worry about going bad. I was going to get the grocery portion on my way back home, but these home items were definitely needed. I definitely advocate on using the app to scan as you shop here. It allows you to clip coupons as you shop and even pay so you can bypass the registers to head to your vehicle. I have opted for this on so many occasions now. I grabbed everything I definitely had on my list. Then I grabbed things that definitely not on my list. Paid in the app, and was back outside before the stores started to roll in.
