This review is overdue. Last summer, Frank and his team transformed my backyard from a disjointed muddy forrest into the backyard of my dreams. He listened to me, made recommendations and followed through on everything. His crew is the best!!! He fixed a broken fence, fixed the drainage, added a gorgeous patio, made a walkway out of free pavers, built veggie boxes, fixed my current sprinklers and added a rock covering. He is usually booked for most of the summer, but is well worth the wait. 5++ stars. read more

Frank was really great to work with. I initially found R&K Sprinkler to repair some of my broken sprinkler heads in my front yard, and asked them about who to call for installing a new system in my back yard. They recommended Rutledge Sprinkler & Landscaping. Frank came out, took some measurements and told me that he and his team install top of the line equipment and do an excellent job. He was right. He and his team showed up right on time, they got to work, and were done within the day. They dug up my yard, installed a new valve box, passed the hoses under my existing walkway, and left it looking like they were never there (with the addition of some new sprinklers, of course). Frank walked me through how to work the new Clock Control Box, as well as how to do my own tweaking on the sprinkler heads, if I needed to. He and his team were all great to work with. I contracted with Rutledge Sprinkler and Landscaping to install a fence. The fence was installed incorrectly, they failed to screw all sections into the posts, so I have a section of fence that is falling over. I have contacted the company multiple times and they refuse to resolve their mistake. I would not recommend their service to anyone due to the lack of quality work or customer service. Update to my review. On April 24, 2014 at 5:00 p.m. Frank Rutledge called me. Instead of fixing the fence, he called to tell me if I didn't remove my negative review he would call his lawyer and sue me for slander. read more

Frank and his team did a great job on our Hayward Pl. house. They delivered what they promised on budget at a very reasonable price. (We originally were going to go with another company with landscape architects that charged a ~$500 design retainer. When their quote came in too high they tried to bully me into paying an additional sum. This seems to be the modus operandi of the landscaping business.) However, Frank is on the other side of the spectrum. Honest, upright guy whose reputation in the Highlands precedes him. We hired Frank Rutledge and his team to correct a sprinkler system that had been poorly conceived and installed. He gave us great advice on how to redo the system, with an estimate that was in the middle of those given by other companies. His solution also made the best sense. He and the team were on time and on budget. They showed pride of workmanship throughout the project, and cleaned up immaculately after the work was done. I called this company based on the strength of the yelp reviews. I needed a fence on a 15,000 square foot lot and a scheduled an appointment on 2/25/16 at 4:30 PM. I called the company and left a message at 3 PM to verify that there were no problems and they were not running late; left work early to go home. They never showed up. read more

My husband and I recently employed Rutledge Sprinkler and Landscaping to complete a full scale renovation of our yard. When we purchased the home two years ago, the yard was in desperate need of a makeover. The front yard was filled with overgrown bushes and plants, a broken drip and sprinkler system and pea gravel everywhere! The back was filled only with wood chips. It was an eyesore to say the least! We had his company put in our sprinkler system years ago (2005ish) and he and his team did a fabulous job. I wanted to create multiple different plant zones requiring multiple methods in watering which wasn't a problem. Since then, I've hired him every year to blow the sprinklers out and have never had a problem. He's always been dependable, timely, pleasant and reasonably priced. I'd recommend him (and have many of times) for your lawn/yard needs. read more

I called to get an estimate for our backyard including full sod prep and removal for about 3000 square ft. The person I met with, who I believe was the owner, was very rude during the estimate visit, informing me that the job wasn't big enough for them and "wasn't worth it". He complained that the size of the job wouldn't pay for his insurance-related costs. I let him know that that was fine and he told me he would leave a quote for me within a couple of days anyways. I never received a quote. All aspects of this interaction felt very unprofessional. read more

My wife and interviewed many different landscapers before choosing to give our $30k+ project to Frank Rutledge. We hired Rutledge to do a complete tear-out and install of landscape in the front and back of our house, with many major elements such as a new sprinkler system under sod, a large concrete patio, gravel paths and patio, a wall, mulched out beds, etc. Going into this project we were very nervous- we have been badly burned by contractors that over promise and under deliver. That is NOT Frank Rutledge's way. Frank managed our entire project from start to finish with a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and communication. In short, Frank cares about what he does- and it was clear that he takes pride in his work and in customer satisfaction. Frank went out of his way to ensure we were satisfied-- for example he brought us samples from three different stone yards to find just the right type of gravel for us- truly above and beyond. And this attitude extends to his crew- they were great guys- respectful, on-time, clean, and easy to talk to. Rutledge Sprinkler & Landscaping just finished a relatively large-scale landscaping renovation at our home. The work we had done included complete yard overhaul with old sod removal and new sod replacement, excavation and leveling of soil and land, removal of old bushes and shrubbery, removal and replacement of dilapidated concrete, sprinkler system installation, garden sprinkler installation, drip system installation, edging installation, and installation of a large amount landscaping fabric and rock. We met Frank after having multiple bids on the job and were impressed by his professional, yet easy-to-talk to personality. He arrived on-time and listened to our desires and concerns regarding the project, spending a great deal of time with us talking about how to best meet our needs within the budget we had defined. A bid was provided in a timely manner and was very fair in comparison to the other bids we had received. An estimated start date was given and the crew actually started a few days earlier than we expected! Frank and his crew arrived early each day and worked the entirety of the day. They were respectful to our needs, making sure we were fully aware of the work that was happening and ensuring that we had access to our house despite extensive construction outside. Moreover, the crew was very friendly with my wife and I and also very courteous with our neighbors and passers-by. Frank gave an estimate of 8-10 days in which they would finish the job. It was finished in 8 days. I can't illustrate enough how happy we are with the results! Frank and his crew fulfilled our requests perfectly! In fact, it turned out even better than we had expected; we were even surprised by a few "extras" that we had not anticipated, making things even better. The final costs were very much in line with the initial bid we were given. Frank took the time to familiarize me with the sprinkler timer and made sure to answer all questions I had. He even insisted that he will visit again in weeks to come to make sure that everything is still in order. I would highly recommend Rutledge Sprinkler & Landscaping to anyone looking for any sort of assistance with their landscaping or sprinkler system needs. We hired Frank Rutledge to install a sprinkler system drip system for our new garden and flower beds this summer. We needed it done right and we needed it completed quickly so we could comfortably go on vacation and know everything we had planted would survive. Frank and his crew were extremely professional from start to finish. I felt Frank was honest about the costs upfront and assured me he would do things right. After talking to Frank I could tell that the other landscapers I had interviewed had less knowledge and were proposing to take some shortcuts. The crew worked hard, they were very friendly, and responded to my requests for small adjustments. All around great experience! I was looking to have our irrigation system winterized and called several area companies for pricing. Only Rutledge called back! They (I think Frank's wife) was very friendly on the phone and was quick to schedule something for us. The day of the winterizing, Frank showed up on-time, completed the task very quickly, and was very fairly priced. He was super friendly and we even shared some fun stories about our dogs. Frank and his team are fantastic! He has worked with his crews for decades and it is apparent. We had Frank put in a stamped concrete patio that we had wanted for years and he worked with us to make sure the whole project was within our budget. Frank also has a great eye for design so we just told him what we wanted and left it to him to design it. The sprinkler system he put in (after 8 years of hand watering the lawn) has great coverage and is so easy to manage I wish we had done this years ago. Frank also worked with us to offer options when our first choice was too cost prohibitive. He's also very honest and timely--everything was completed in two weeks with minimal delays and we could always reach Frank by phone when we had questions. We can't wait to spend every day from now until winter in our new backyard and patio. We would recommend Frank and his crews to anyone needing landscaping.
