The best steak that I've ever had in my entire life--and I've had a lot of steak. Not only did Ruth's Chris provide us with the most phenomenal service, they more than delivered on the food, ambiance and overall experience. I didn't think it was possible to salivate over food while currently eating the food with which you are salivating over--until I dined here. The porterhouse that we ordered was cooked perfectly at medium rare temperature, presented on a bed of sizzling butter and seasoned to perfection. It melted in my mouth and stayed with me long after the meal was over. We also ordered Caesar salad, potatoes au gratin and veal ravioli--all of them being delicious and filling. My favorite side was the ravioli, with its slow-roasted veal and addictive lemon butter sauce. Our waiter Kevin was also amazing and he surprised us with a complimentary cheesecake for the birthday boy of the hour. My husband was happily surprised at the attention to detail and extra thought that went into it. We love a good steak, and Ruth's Chris is the best Lafayette has to offer. Unfortunately, something seems to go wrong every visit and it sours the experience. The steaks are often overcooked, the knives aren't sharp, they're out of the first four bottle of wine we try to order (true story), or the service isn't good. The quality is there, but the execution fails. When we are spending that much for a steak, we don't think it's unreasonable to expect it to be cooked as ordered and for the server to be attentive. I do wish they could figure out the issues because we really want to love this place. read more

So the food is amazing, absolutely wonderful some of the best lamb chops I've ever had cooked and seasoned perfectly. The server was great very attentive as well as the bus staff made sure our table was cleaned and prepared for each course. A great place for a romantic date night but it is very expensive. Look to pay around $150 a person. They do have a dress code which the hostess advised of. A great special occasion restaurant or, as previously stated, a great date night with that special someone. Went here on Sunday with my boyfriend for celebrate our anniversary. The place was so peaceful, giving the vintage vibes. The server was kindly, attentive and quickly. We ordered crab cakes, salmon and shrimp, cremini mushroom, ribeye steak and lobster, lobster bisque and cream spinach (ig). The crab cake is a gem, absolutely love it! The salmon and shrimp they got the BBQ butter sauce on the side and it was so good. The steak in my opinion it was pretty salty, I don't said that I don't like seasoning I'm Asian and absolutely love seasoning so that's why I said it was salty. Me and my boyfriend don't like the lobster bisque, it was bitter, cold. But the rest of it and overall was a wonderful experience. Overall, our stay at Ruth's Chris of Lafayette,LA was fair. The atmosphere was nice, the noise level was tolerable, and the staff was okay. Our back waiter, Don was very hospitable and checked on us often. Our waitress, Kerri, finished the night out with a complimentary cheesecake for my mother's birthday. During our stay, often, we had to wait on cocktails to be refilled. The food was fair, and a little inconsistent. The lobster bisque was luke warm. Two of us ordered steaks, medium rare with truffle crust, an 11 oz filet and a 26 oz bone in cowboy ribeye. The filet was perfectly executed with a crisp toasted crust and beautiful sear on all edges of the steak while the ribeye's crust was a long shot from a perfect execution. Two of us ordered the bacon bleucheese wedge salads. One had a perfect amount of dressing while the other lacked. The garlic mash lacked the ladle of butter, while the Brussels sprouts, lobster Mac and cheese, and calamari were perfectly done. Compared to other locations such as the Hardrock Casino and Hotel in Biloxi, during a very busy Mother's Day, we were greeted by the General Manager and Shift Manager, who often checked in on us. Our glasses never ran dry and the kitchen staff's execution preparing the food was excellent. Another location on Veteran's Boulevard in Metairie, as well shows true hospitality, execution, and consistency. Ruth's Chris of Lafayette,LA, needs: staff that wants to be there, by not playing on their phones as customers walk up to the doors through the valet area, a kitchen staff that executes every dish consistently perfect, and to show the wait staff to not get annoyed about refilling glasses consistently and how to float tables effectively. The best experience is at the bar! I was in town for a high school golf tournament, teacher/coach here, and wanted a nice dinner. I'd never been to a Ruth Chris and I was excited to give it a try. I didn't have a reservation, walked in and sat at the bar. Honestly I didn't love the look of the rest of the restaurant, fairly light and beige and boring, definitely older crowd. Now the bar, the bar area here is 10/10. Big TV behind the bar to watch sports, spots at the bar for sitting, spots in the bar room for tables, fantastic. The lighting of a good steakhouse honestly. Sat down and bartender was right away getting water and menu, just class all the way. Placed my order, food came in good amount of time, and that sprite had that McDonald's fountain drink delightfulness, 10/10! Ok, I've been on a bit of a losing streak with steaks before this one and let me say that losing streak absolutely ended here! First it was expensive at $60, but it was 11oz vs the 8oz and 6oz I've had here recently. It was perfectly cooked, the seasoning on it was great and I love that it wasn't drowned in any sauce. It was a great steak, and next time I'm in Lafayette (next year for state golf tournament) I'll come back for another steak. read more

I called to speak to the manager (who apologized but didn't offer a replacement dish or refund) and emailed comments@ruthschris.com (no response). I was concerned other customers might also get sick and hoped to get an appropriate response and reassurance that food safety issues would be resolved instead of having to post a review. It had been a while since we went to Ruth's Chris so we decided to give it a go. Everything was delicious and perfect except for the crabcake my sister and I both got topped on our filet mignon. It tasted very fishy, also- we wished the lobster mac & cheese had a cheese crust to it. We did not let it ruin our as everything else we had was great! I made reservations for the Prisoner wine dinner. I added a special request to my reservation indicating that I only eat seafood and would need a substitution for the filet mignon portion of the meal. I never heard back to let me know my request could not be accommodated. The day of the dinner, my friend called the restaurant to see if she could be added to my reservation. Mackenzie informed my friend my special request could not be accommodated, but never bothered calling me. Instead, she suggested my friend let me know. After I spoke with my friend, I called the restaurant and was informed the four course dinner was a "set menu" and that I "could still come" but I wasn't going to be able to get a substitution. I expressed that I had this reservation booked for weeks and no one told me that. I was then put on hold so that she could check with the chef and see what could be done. She then came back to the phone and told me the chef was only able to make salmon since it was "last minute". I explained that while they may have been treating it as a last minute request, I actually made this reservation weeks prior. I told them to go ahead and cancel the reservation because I'm not going to pay premium pricing for subpar service. A week later, I went to the restaurant and spoke with the manager, Diamond, to share my concerns. Diamond told me I was misinformed and that they have been able to accommodate special requests in the past. However, instead of making up for the error and the inconvenience, her solution was to pitch me on the next wine dinner. Why would I want to book with you in the future when you haven't done anything to correct your past mistake? Diamond then said she would "investigate" the matter. I left my phone number but never heard back. What a waste of time. You can get better service at McDonald's. read more

Numerous appetizers to choose from all of which are tasty. I typically enjoy the ribeye for my entree. Try the Ruth's chopped salad and if you're up for it.. the crabtini is wonderful. Light and refreshing. Complementary flavors. For sides, I recommend the potatoes au gratin Or Lyonnaise potatoes. The brussels are superb, as is the creamed spinach. Appetizers, I recommend the tuna or the fried calamari. The shoestring potatoes are piled high and are what you'd expect. Overall, for an upscale experience, you can't go wrong here. read more

This review is based on delivery service, I have not been to the restaurant in person. This location lives up to the hype of one of the best steak houses around. I could eat here every night, but that would be a little pricey based on the quality of food they offer. Ruth's Chris is the ultimate steak destination around here and it's with good reason. I couldn't wait to gush about my stellar experience here recently so let's get right to it, shall we? We started by sharing the mushroom stuffed with crab meat app and although I've had this type of dish before, something about the atmosphere here made this extra special. We were trying to be polite and not fight over the last one so we ended up splitting it in half but I can tell you next time we order this I am not above stabbing someone with my fork to get the last one. For my entree I chose the Mozzarella Heirloom tomato salad with a light balsamic vinegar dressing. This was wonderful and the waiter told me the tomatoes were local, grown here in Lafayette, and I could have guessed. The tomatoes were so fresh and bursting with juicy flavor. I'd get this again, for sure. I ended up ordering the filet (no surprise there) but this time I asked for it with a horseradish crust (horseradish, Parmesan cheese and panko crumbs). What!! Um, consider me blown away. I've never tasted a steak so divine and it was cooked perfectly medium rare. We also split an order of the lobster mac and cheese and again, that dish just blew it out of the park. I will never look at mac and cheese the same. My friend ordered the tomahawk steak and it smelled amazing. I didn't try it but he enjoyed it. That is one impressive looking cut of meat. I'll have to at least try a bite next time. Can't believe how far Ruth's Chris' star has fallen. Went for an anniversary dinner and walked away very disappointed. Steaks were tough and overcooked. Asparagus was limp and soggy. Plates were tiny and almost comical in their presentation. There are too many great restaurants in Lafayette than to endure poor quality food and poor execution. We won't be back to this place. I don't hear recently with my parents and my uncle for Thanksgiving day. They had a special menu for the day and it was fairly tasty. The yam patties/fritters or a big mess. Steaks of course were fantastic. The seafood tower seemed a bit overpriced to me but it was nicely presented.my uncle had the lamb and the mushrooms both of which underwhelmed event. We made a reservation for 8:15 in January for Valentine's Day; we recently got engaged so we were excited to celebrate this Valentine's Day! We arrived a couple minutes before 8:15; we were told that we were added to the list and would be texted when the table was ready. We waited until 9:15 until we finally gave up. We asked when we would be seated and we were still 4th on the waiting list. So we gave up the reservation and ended up with fast food. This issue does not fall on the staff that was working this night and we praise the hostess that had to take all the frustration that I'm sure came from many customers. We both have fond memories of this restaurant so I hope they can get it together soon and better prepare for nights that they know will be busy. read more

First of all, service wise - always on point! Waiters, always professional and courteous! Food, this is where it gets complicated... At times the best steaks then there are times that it's just not great at all.. Side entrees are always great! Drinks are fantastic! Place is always packed! So maybe they need more cooks.. I told the guy to tell the manager to come over here he never did we ordered our food. It took 45 minutes to get a drink one hour later we finally got a salad. two hours later we finally got our food. My fiancé took me here to celebrate my birthday. I'm not one to usually complain or leave a bad review, however when you spend $300 including a tip, I feel like service should be better than going out to a regular restaurant. To start out, our server asked if we were celebrating anything special, which we responded, yes, my birthday.
