Bad customer service. No respect for customers time. We did Schedule for service but no call no show, we got it reschedule still no call no show, call them up and get reschedule and again no show. We call back left message no one return our call. When they finally show up, they have to order part and when part comes in again they schedule us for 2 separate days and same outcome no call no show. We been waiting 3 weeks to get thing fix. Horrible!!! Don't use this company. This past friday they said they would send someone to my vacation rental unit to fix my air conditioner which wasn't blowing cold air. Probably just needed freon. I told them it was very important as my renter said he needs the air conditioning. They didn't show up!! By then, it was already friday night, and I couldn't get anyone until monday. My renter was also being very unreasonable and wanted the air conditioner on!! I called them right away friday night, even called the emgergency number they gave on their message, No one called me back!! I finally got a hold of another company monday and they fixed the air conditioner. So, over all so much stress Rutan caused me. If they say they will go to service, they should go!!!!! Don't give these people your money or business!!!! read more

There was a miscommunication and the warranty on my dishwasher expired in the meantime. Rutan stepped up, took care of the issue at their cost in a very timely way. This company has some of the worst service on the island. I have been waiting over 3 months to get parts and have my (in warranty stove) repaired. The tech has been out twice and never has checked the stove. Parts wer ordered and took 2 monthsto arrive. The tech replaced the new parts and left before testing to see if they worked. Good luck was all he said as he left. Had 2 more follow up,appointments and they did not show up. Do not use thi company you will be sorry if you do! read more

DO NOT CALL THIS COMPANY. They charged me $240 to come and give me an additional $400 bid to repair my dryer. (640 total. I ended up using another company who charged $220 TOTAL). Rutan workers tracked mud all my newly painted concrete floors, and left the dryer unstacked and unprotected from the weather. I disputed the charges until they threatened legal action against my housekeeper, who set up the repair. I finally paid them to leave her alone. read more

I told Dean, the owner who called when he found out i wrote a bad Yelp review, that if his tech showed up on time and was decent i would revise my review. I gotta say the tech showed up early! It took him a bit to warm up and i don't blame him. I blasted the company pretty good. I left the tech to do his thing, and that he did! He did a good job, he was quick and efficient, did not leave a mess and was nice on his way out. Gotta give credit where credit is due. So far... fridge is fine. Yippee!!! read more

Saved me from sweating to death! Great local service, instant fix of my a/c! I highly recommend Rutan!!

The technicians at Rutan were able to fix my built in refrigerator that nobody else on the island would even come look at, even the certified Kitchen Aid/Whirlpool repairman that they told me to call. I totally lucked out with Rutan, because they not only showed up the same day I called them , but they were able to get to the bottom of the problem, and make my built in fridge cold again!!! What a rip-off. The method of billing is so over the top expensive - billed in fifteen minute increments regardless of the repair being completed or not. In addition to the incremental billings there is a $75.00 "service call" fee in addition to that!'' I will not use them again nor recommend them to others. read more

Rutan and our technician Art were great. The ice maker in our refrigerator wasn't working. When we went to Home Depot, where our refrigerator was purchased, they said no one on the island repairs the LG refrigerators. We called Rutan, and Art came out to look at it. He ordered the part that was needed and just finished installing it today. The ice maker works great now. I highly recommend Rutan. read more

Horrible customer service. Bought a brand new washer and dryer. Right out of the box the dryer did not work. The tech does not do his due diligence in diagnosing issues. Waited two weeks for parts to come in and then ended up needing more parts which took another 2+ weeks. I am currently still waiting on the dryer to be fixed because the tech only makes it out to the Northshore once a week. Company definitely needs to figure out a better system. Would not use them again. The only reason I used him the first time is because they cover the warranty of my brand new dryer. read more

A few years ago, during one of our hottest summers ever, our regular a/c guys were too busy to do service calls for our clinic and offices. The next available time would have been "some time next week". I had to call the other a/c companies. Guess who was the only one who answered their phone? Yup. Rutan. I totally got that the a/c companies were all busy because it was definitely one of the hottest summers ever! When all our stores and outer island stores run out of a/c window units, you know it was an extremely hot summer. The office that needed emergency service was either our pharmacy or IT office. I can't remember because they both need to have their a/c's on 24/7. They sent someone over right away and (I wish i could remember who it was) he was very helpful, understanding, professional, and knowledgeable! We've used them ever since. Our office staff here in Lihue and our clinic staff in Kapaa love, love, love these guys. Getting in contact with them is so convenient for me, too. If for some reason I can't call, I can e-mail them. I get such a quick response from the office. Diane is da bomb.com!!! Even if they can't send someone right then and there, they will send someone out first thing the next morning. When I tell the staff who needs their a/c serviced that information, they don't mind because they know that Rutan WILL show up. In other words, they don't call me and say, when's the a/c guys coming? I got that a lot with the other a/c company. Rutan makes my job so easy. I don't have to shop around anymore and we can always count on them! The best part of it all is . . . they keep us cool! Only company on the island that services Home Depot Protection Plans for Samsung refrigerators. Ongoing issue with electronic panel on door of refrigerator for last 4 years. I guess these days, nothing is repaired, just remove-and-replace. I have no idea about how Rutan organizes home refrigerator repair schedules. It appears, even if a date/time is scheduled, if the technician is "in the area", then he will stop by regardless of any hard scheduled date/time....."I'm here". Could be any time. The technician uses a blocked phone number so you can never call him back on anything. About 18 months ago he put a 2 inch gouge in the front of my refrigerator while trying to remove a panel. Just walked out of the house when he was done. Said nothing. Tried to call him, but blocked number. Called the company, and was told I needed to contact my Protection Plan, so the technician could come back out to fix the gouge (Rutan was not going to cover it). Technician came spring 2019, was there 10 minutes, and again, made a repair, and left without saying anything. read more

Our regular ac company was booked and was going to take two weeks to even get to our vacation rental ac, so I got on the phone at 7am calling all ac companies I was surprised they were already open and they were able to go that same day first stop to serive and fix the ac! I rarely write reviews but when a company goes above the call of excellent service, I believe they need to be acknowledged. I requested a repair for one of vacation rentals in Poipu, where the guest was very inconvenienced by having the unit malfunction. Thankfully, in spite of a completely booked schedule, Rutan Refrigeration understood that we had a client that was upset. They worked it out where our unit was repaired and back in service within 1 1/2 days. I am so thankful that there are companies that still understand quality service! read more
