We ordered our drinks and the beet and goat salad to split as an appetizer. It was delicious and huge with loads of goat cheese and tasty pickled beets and zesty arugula. For our meal, I ordered the Pork Schnitzel with squash and zucchini and my wife got the whitefish that was one of the specials. The schnitzel had an incredible mushroom sauce and was cooked perfectly with the right balance of crispy and tender. We had a great time and plan to make the drive there regularly! This bar is decorated with family heirlooms and antiques giving it cozy cabin feels. All of the photos on the walls are vintage pictures of the town of Morley back in the day, which can be so interesting to look at - did you know there was a pickle factory?! We so often forget about history of small towns, which I think adds such a unique flare to this bar. The food is selected with careful thought and the best ingredients. The deck on the east side of the building was built by my father - a retired iron worker. It's the perfect view on a nice sunny day. -- really the list goes on and on about reasons you should go here. For years, the taco salad has been my favorite item on the menu, but you've got to try the breakfast too. This place means so much to me and many locals of the town. so much history, love and small town culture! And GREAT food!

When I questioned it, the waitress claimed she thought my husband had ordered it--he had not. I explained that I shouldn't have to pay for something I didn't order. She took the bill but never removed the charge, never apologized, and never addressed it again. This was frustrating for two reasons: I had ordered a large entrée that normally comes with a salad, so it wasn't unreasonable to assume it was part of my meal. And if she thought it was for my husband but he never ordered it, that was her mistake. Between the allergy being brushed off and being charged for food we didn't order, the experience was disappointing. Sadly, after this visit, I can't recommend Clifford Lake Inn.

She explained Covid and mis management contributed to the lack luster reviews, but she is striving to turn this place around. First, there's 2 sides to the restaurant with a kitchen in the middle. We walked in on the log cabin looking side, which has a few tables and not much room. That's the side that had most vehicles parked. Only to learn that the longer side of building, is considered the "bar" side. We walked around, and a much larger dining room, with pool tables, TV screens, and a bar. They are anticipating finally being able to serve beer, wine and full bar before the end of Feb 2024...until then, soda pops and ice tea, coffee and hot tea. Alcohol will be available on both sides. All you can eat Fish Fry Friday, $14.99. 3 large pieces of fish(pollock), choice of coleslaw, apple sauce, cottage cheese or side salad. Also choice of potato: battered dip, bake potato, sweet potato. The fish is Pollock and you can choose: "dry"- crunchy, "wet" which is battered dipped, baked or Cajon. We tried the wet and dry, and liked both! The coleslaw had mandarin oranges and carrots, the side salad is what you'd expect. Waitstaff was hustling, trying to ensure no delays in serving. Definitely need to come back to try their breakfast and other menu items. Sounds like they are going to have entertainment on weekends, maybe Battle of the Bands, and "car shows"....stay tuned...and try them out.

We went with a fried goat chase appetizer, which I've never had before, and never even seen on another menu before. The cook clearly enjoys using balsamic glaze as this was used on both the appetizer and later on my entrée as well. Balsamic glaze is certainly delicious, but I'm not sure if it goes well on quite as many things as the cook seems to think it does. My entrée was a dish of mushroom ravioli prepared in a purée made with green peas. I noted that the chef used a variety of spices in preparing the purée, to very good effect. My wife ordered the New York strip, and what was brought out looked very good. We both had cocktails, and in both cases the cocktails or well-made. I ordered a Mojito type drink made with tequila. My wife ordered a strawberry Mamosa. I noted the care that was taken in preparing both drinks which tells me there's a professional bartender on staff. About the only thing that needs to be improved is the service. We waited just a bit too long for certain aspects of the meal in a restaurant that was nearly empty. The server was certainly polite and well mannered, but I think he was the only one working that evening. Perhaps on weekends they're better staffed?
