Two bikes I ended up buying from a different shop.

So my better half has been wanting a beach cruiser for ever! I'm cruising down Garnet and see this place. I stop and go take a look. I ask Rusty about a particular color and he says " I don't have it, maybe next week". Doesn't bother to tell me the price, options, or anything else. Kinda leaves me standing there. So I walk half a block east on the same street and buy TWO beautiful new beach cruisers at Pacific Beach Cruisers. The guy there even swapped the wheels and seats for a different color. Sorry Rusty, but most people like me will pay more for good customer service. Maybe I just got you on a bad day. I wish you success because I like small shops, but make the buying experience fun and I'm sure you will thrive.

I came across Rusty Spokes while walking down Garnet after a kickball game on a sunny Sunday Funday afternoon. I had been thinking for a while about getting a new beach cruiser, but was not planning to purchase one just yet when I noticed the reasonable price tags and the bright, unique color combinations. I was greeted by the owner, Rusty, and found out that he designs all of the bikes, and that they come with a lifetime repair guarantee. I am a short person, and even the lowest setting of the seat was too high (which was the main problem I was having with my old cruiser). Rusty offered to cut down the seat at no additional cost. A true custom fitted bike! He also offers a military discount which made the cost more than reasonable for my husband and I...SOLD! Rusty Spokes is a true small, locally owned operation that I am happy to have helped support and highly recommend!

I walked in and was immediately greeted. They had everything I needed and the prices smoked the competition. If you have bike needs this is the place for you! If you go anywhere else for a bike or bike accessories without checking here first you are wasting your money. This place gets 5 stars!

I'm super annoyed! I just bought a Soft Cruiser for my Dad, for xmas, and now I want it. Oh well. I'm excited to gift this bike to him. It's a genius design. I took it for a spin and was amazed how smooth and fun the ride was. Kinda makes you smirk while riding it b/c it's so enjoyable. Growing up in San Diego, I've had plenty of cruisers, and this is bar none the best to date. It's so well made and doesn't look cheap, but still modest...which I like. Most importantly, the man behind it all - owner/designer, Dave, was great. The transaction was easy and quick. No cheesy upselling, but gave suggestions in case it needed tweaking to fit my Dad. Bottom line, don't waste your money on other subpar crusiers, this is the spot. Now, hopefully my Dad will agree. T.B.C. Thanks Dave!

Customized just for us...we love the Soft Cruise by Rusty Spokes.

I was envisioning myself in bed to read, nap, and scroll on my phone but Gavin had other ideas. He enjoyed the breaks in the room but wanted to do things. I don't blame him. He noticed this place as we were walking to get lunch earlier. We ended renting a surrey. It's meant for 2, both would need to pedal but the left side had the real steering wheel. Even when it was Gavin's turn to "drive," I still spun the dummy wheel though I knew it served no purpose. It was instincts. The path we took was along the waterfront which is the only path allowed. It was difficult to maneuver because there were a lot of people and a lot of people that are inconsiderate, too. Like a family of 6 walking side by side? Who are your parents that never taught you basic manners?! Service was nice. They hold your ID until the rental is returned. Gavin had fun. A helmet is mandatory for kids under 18 (free). All you pay is the rental for the bike itself. I'm not sure when will be our next cruise but we will definitely try this again but early in the morning so we can bike freely w/o people.

It was $15 bucks for an hour which in my opinion should be cheaper for renting a rusty bike but this is California haha. I guess I'm helping to pay that top tier space rent. I'd pay it again and love riding down here by the coast! There is always going to be loads of people down here and if you're not a confident rider, I wouldn't come here to ride a bike. There is so much going on, from kids riding, skating, blowing bubbles, adults riding, skating, and blowing bubbles. It's such a magical spot, it's always brought a huge smile to my face walking or riding down here! I use to come when you could ride scooters lol and one time a friend of mine collided with a bicyclist and she broke some bones. Needless to say, just be careful and if you're not advanced, a helmet would definitely be recommended.
