I am so grateful that I was able to work with Darby on my wedding day. She played such a crucial role in capturing our incredibly special day. From the time that she and I first spoke, I knew that we clicked and that she would do what she needed to in order to make my vision a reality. We spoke a couple of times prior to the wedding and ironed out details. On the wedding day, she arrived early, scoped out the space and sat with me while we discussed what my vision was. She has such a wealth of knowledge and knows exactly where to place you for the best possible photos. She just has that eye for detail that is truly necessary. Besides being amazing and catching so much of our special day, she helped out with other tasks throughout the day as well. When my bridesmaids and I were struggling with my bustle, she stepped right in and got it all taken care of for me. Fantastic! Absolutely amazing! Darby and Sarah were our photo/video team for our wedding, and we could not be happier. They were kind, attentive, tenacious, and always willing to do whatever it took to get the best shot (including literally going into a lake to capture our first look on a dock). Darby is, without a doubt, an incredible artist. One moment in particular that demonstrates the value that this team brings: We had a very small ceremony with a total of 28 people. After the ceremony, while we signed the marriage license and bustled my dress, there wasn't much for guests to do (we had already held a cocktail hour beforehand and planned to take group photos as soon as the license was signed). One of my biggest things for my wedding that I wanted was a great photographer. I don't think you can find anyone better than Darby. Not only was she thorough every time we talked timelines and wedding party and color themes. She made me feel like she genuinely cared about my special day. I don't even know where to begin, but maybe this is it....This December, I will be with my now husband for 13 years. About 6 years ago I went to a wedding fair with a girlfriend of mine. Mind you, at this point, I was in the wedding industry for about 25 years. I have seen my fair share of amazing photographers. At this wedding fair I saw all the usual suspects for wedding photographers, quite a few of them were friends. At the very end of the day, I was walking out one of the doors and saw Darby's table and thought to myself that her name didn't sound familiar to me. I decided to stop and take a look at her work and WOW...I was blown away by her artistry. She had a completely different style than the "usual" and I left saying to myself that if I ever got married, I wanted her to be my photographer. She was very "country and rustic" and it was exactly what I envisioned my photographer to be. Fast forward to the next year, I saw her again at the fair and stopped and chatted with her this time and enjoyed my conversation with her and loved her energy. I left saying the same thing to myself. 1-1-2018....you guessed it, he popped the question at the Grand Canyon. I had the most AMAZING backdrop for my engagement. People still ask me if it's photoshopped..LOL 2019 - I went to the same wedding fair, but this time for myself. The first thing I did was search out Darby's booth. I started to panic a bit because I couldn't find her. I finally found her and she had so many people at her booth and I saw her actually booking dates right there on the spot. I patiently waited my turn and when it was my turn, I reminded her of our last conversation and she actually recalled it. (YES WAY!!!) Can you believe that I wanted her so bad that I actually booked my wedding date based on her availability!!! So there it was, I was happy as could be and couldn't wait to have her photograph my wedding in August 2020. 2020 - COVID - Enough said there :( 2021 - COVID - UGH!!!! As much as every other business and person across the world that was suffering from all aspects of life, the wedding industry took a huge hit in those couple years. Without going into a lot of detail, you can only imagine what it was like for her to have people keep re-booking and cancelling. But year after year....I changed my date around her schedule so I could have her. I wanted what I wanted!! LOL July 23rd, 2022 - THE BEST DAY EVER!!! She got us...she knew what we wanted...she listened to what we DID NOT want...she ROCKED it like none other. After the "official" photos were out of the way...she was stealth...I look back at all my amazing photos and I was like "Wow, I didn't even see Darby take this photo"...she was everywhere but not in our face the entire night. She captured so many raw emotions in our pictures, so much fun, love, laughter, excitement and so much more. I still am getting compliments on how amazing and nice she was. She has a very cool calm to her, but still shows so much excitement for you and for what she does. She genuinely cares about your day and isn't just there to take a shit ton of pictures. She is there to capture your moments. Within a few days of the wedding, she already posted some "sneak peaks" on my social media....YA, you heard me...most photographer take weeks to get you your pictures. There are quite a few that people keep saying they belong in a magazine and that is just how damn good she is! I wish that I could share all of them with you, but here are a few. I am sorry for the long post, but I think she deserves a good story as to how she became my favorite photographer ever!! She WILL not disappoint and you will fall in love with her as we did! What just happened? Did my Fiance just willingly take engagement photos and enjoy every minute of it? Yes, you read that correctly. Even the idea of taking engagement photos was a rough push in our household, but once he agreed, I knew I had to find someone that would make the experience comfortable, fun, and of course produce good material. What I found in Darby, was so much more. We spoke for months up until the day of the shoot, and upon meeting her day-of it was like we had known each other for years. Immediately, I knew this was going to work. She was spunky, personable, just a go-with-the-flow kinda gal. Ryan and her immediately clicked, and it was on. She jumped in our car, and we were off, scoping the area for good spots. Every so often, she would yell "pull over!", we would jump out of the car, and she would work her magic. We must have shot in seven or eight different locations, switched up the outfits, and drove until the light was fading. She made Ryan feel at ease, and like himself throughout the whole process, which made for amazing footage. Photoshoots can often times feel awkward, forced, and uncomfortable; and even though at times, we were laughing and asking "do we look like idiots?" when we had the actual photos in hand, we were shocked. They were so genuine, honest and real; I had a huge smile on my face and tears in my eyes looking through them. We had a preview of our photos within a couple days, and ALL photos within a week! Darby is an incredible photographer! I can't say enough great things about her and her work! We had an absolutely crazy wedding with our wedding venue cancelling the night before. Instead of a wedding at a historic building out in the country, we were stuck with a last minute location in the middle of town in an old, dated, Italian banquet hall. However, looking at our wedding photos, Darby was able to get that country look that I had been dreaming of. She drove around and scouted the area around our venue and found an empty lot and old buildings to take photos that were absolutely breathtaking!
