If anyone's looking for a…read morenice, clean and quiet campground right off the main road of highway 395...I highly recommend coming here! I found Dragoon Creek through my trusty little camping app called CAMPENDIUM. I also absolutely recommend for those hikers, campers and adventurers who enjoy getting outdoors and pitching their tents while exploring the beautiful parks in the Pacific Northwest....then Campendium is simply the best app on your phone to find campgrounds. Dragoon Creek is located 18 miles north of downtown Spokane, Washington. This was the perfect stopping place for me as I was ultimately heading 250 miles northwest towards North Cascades National Park to explore over there for a few days. I had read on Campendium that it was free to camp at Dragoon Creek for the night as long as you had a Washington Discover Pass. I had no clue what a Washington Discover Pass was and I didn't even know how to find one. When I finally arrived here the Camp Host greeted me by the front gate. He told me I could pick up this Discover Pass at the local Chevron gas station about 5 miles down the road in the town of Deer Park. This was not a problem for me. When I arrived at Chevron, they had plenty of passes. It was $12 to buy a pass for the night. Though they mentioned that for an entire years worth....it was only $30 and this Washington Discover Pass was accepted at plenty of campgrounds located all over Washington state. The pass was especially handy when I visited Olympic National Park with a variety campgrounds to tent around there. So, I happily paid the $30 and while I was at Chevron I picked up a few snacks for the evening. Returning to Dragoon Creek...there were 23 campsites to choose from. The Camp Host told me to pick an unoccupied spot and I was good to go! I think for me...best of all...the campground was set right within the forest with lots of space between campsites. There were picnic tables and fire pits for barbecuing. Summing it all up...Dragoon Creek exuded the absolute PERFECT AMBIANCE AND SETTING for taking it easy and relaxing in the woods. I couldn't have picked a better place. Thank you Campendium, lol! I set up my tent on a relatively healthy patch of grass (not on hard dirt) that was more than suitable and comfortable for sleeping at night. The surroundings were so quaint and pleasant for camping...I gladly snapped some pictures to remember this place. In all, I was just very shocked that I visited here on a random Tuesday over the summertime in the month of August and Dragoon Creek was empty! More than half the campsites were not even filled. I'm surprised by this because I felt the conditions here were ideal. The Camp Host did mention that over weekends, they get much busier. One big point also, I had cell phone reception...which I much appreciated. And...there was a sign saying the gates to Dragoon Creek closed from 9pm - 7am...so you certainly don't get any late night stragglers that are loud and noisy while you're already settled and trying to enjoy the evening. There were porter potties for bathroom use...but they were some of the most well maintained I have seen over my travels. I can't say enough good things about Dragoon Creek. They even had a little walkway path to a stream that I found quite refreshing. If you're in this Spokane area...come to Dragoon Creek Campground. What a hidden gem and I happily give 5 stars.

The place is an absolute SLICE OF HEAVEN paradise ~ only a little over an hour away from us... but a whole other magical, peaceful world, altogether! Dog friendly, eco-conscious, immaculate, totally charming, and replete with the most amazing owners, Jake and Cody, who quickly became our new best friends (along with their two sweet dogs)! They drove us in their Gator into the national forest (located right across the street), to go morel hunting - and we had great success! It was amazing!!! And they made us Bellinis in the morning with homemade rhubarb preserve using rhubarb from their garden, and bonfires in the evening, replete with s'mores. The bunk house we rented was adorable, quaint, spacious and comfortable, and we felt like we were at sleep-away camp, which brought back the happiest feelings of nostalgia for both my husband and myself. (They also have RV hook-ups overlooking the glorious lake/creek)! The rental of the bunkhouse came with full access to the awesome mess hall below, with a big screen TV, comfy couches, tables and chairs and a full kitchen! This place is a must visit peaceful paradise. The expansive beauty and charm is breathtaking and the accommodations and hospitality are absolutely unparalleled! We had the most relaxing, wonderful time at the retreat/resort and with Jake and Cody and their doggies! Can't recommend it highly enough. We will definitely make going to Ruby Creek Resort a regular pastime!

I was in the area needing a campsite and this place came up. I called but it was after office hours…read moreso I drove over and the office again was closed and I figured I would pay in the morning! There were no prices posted in person or on the website, and no where it stated it was members only. After I had been there about 2 hours (at 7pm) a woman on a golf cart sped into my camp site so fast she skidded on the gravel yelling if you're not a member you owe me $82 to stay here. No hello, welcome or anything. I said how was I supposed to know it was a members campsite as that was not posted anywhere (I double checked the office and front gate as I left making sure I didn't miss anything) and she yelled at me that people normally call first (which I did but they were closed). I packed up and found another fantastic public campsite close by for $30/night and was very happy there. The beach access at old American is also mediocre compared to over things in the area. Just don't want anyone else to set up camp just to have to leave! Some signage with members only and prices would be nice, both in person/at the gate and on the website.

The hanging flowers and flower beds around the office, club house, and laundry/restrooms are really nice. I really enjoy the river access, the deer and turkeys that stroll through, beautiful views of the river valley, and the quiet nights in the park. The recreation building has been renovated this year and is really nice. Maintenance is very responsive. I had a hose bib that was leaking. I let the office know and it was replaced that afternoon. Never any problem with electric or sewer. The grassy common areas are watered and cut regularly. The playground area was updated this Spring. Laundry is equipped with newer washers and dryers are very reasonably priced. Showers and restrooms are very clean. So, a lot of improvements and beautification has taken place. I really enjoyed coming here, and these improvements make it that much better. Management and maintenance are super friendly and eager to help.

In order to navigate the park it requires coming in and out of the check point. Even after you have checked in, received your vehicle tag, if there are 20 cars in front of you, you must wait patiently in line once again. I did not know this (a new rule) and made my way around the lazy traffic to get to the boat dock after unloading my vehicle (parking is horrid). Next thing you know, I'm being chased down by a large Tractor! Literally a front loader with a bucket full of dirt. This maintance guy was insane. As I pulled into a parking spot at the boat launch he screamed in behind me, bloxking me in as if a criminal. Then, he unloads his bucket, 1 ton of dirt behind my truck and proceeds to challenge me to a dual. I have never been i sulted, humiliated and intimidated to such a degree at a campsite. I don't believe they are doing mental welfare checks on their employees at this camp. My family's stay wasnuch shorter, even though the views are beautifil. Also during this trip they were on a manhunt for a killer! Helicopters, military, unmarked cars. I kid you not. Welcome to Idaho
