Strawberry & Chocolate w/ Chocolate dip

I have come a couple of times. The first time my friends brought me to this place. Last week, I returned and had a cone(Strawberry)dipped in chocolate. Heavens!!! I had never made such a mess eating an ice cream, that was the fun part. Delicious!

The best ice cream This is not my pic but I have got it

This ice cream is so delicious is like home made ‍ if I can get the money I will get the ice cream store

Pretty huge serving sizes. Ice cream that is crazy cheap. Fast and friendly service... It's everything you could possibly want in a no frills neighborhood ice cream place kind of way! They are cash only and probably always will be but if my family can all get ice cream and leave a tip for under $10 who cares!?

This place is really, really good. And really popular. If you want to taste it, then wait right here... I can Russell up something similarly creamy and thick and milky for you. It's like "salted caramel" but without the caramel. No interest? Alright. Fair enough. As you weeeeesh. What to get: Baby size banana or vanilla custard What else: Is there anything else in the world that really matters other than banana custard? And what: You've just been officially released into my custardy I was told this custard would suck but it was just a "Russe." Even though I had just had 2 loads of custard in 2 different places, and even though I still had two more on the agenda, I added this spot to my July 4 food tour since it was open, and swung by for some treats. There was a Chili festival down the road, so it was busy as hell. Long lines and tons of kids and families getting their custard on. Paula Abdul loves this place, that's why she sang the song "Russ, Russ" with Keanu Reeves in the video. I was thoroughly and absolutely impressed. It's right up there with LuGia's and Abbott's and Rita's as the absolute best custard in town. I adored every single taste of it. Here's why: (1) Really nice service. The hot girl was sweet and the guy was really nice too (2) Really generous portions... the baby sizes are enorrrrrrrrrrmous (3) The cones taste pretty fresh and not stale at all (4) Vanilla custard was excellent, nearly as good as LuGia and Abbott (5) I thought I'd hate the banana but it was even better than the luscious vanilla (6) I love that they were open on July 4 so I could include it on my little food tour (7) The prices are absolutely ridiculous... 1.69 for a baby size that is the size of a house Don't come here at Russ Hour though. It just gets too busy. I'd like to add that the banana custard is not just good. It's incredible. I loved every single bit of it even though I was already getting sick of all the custard from all the other places. The vanilla was a 5/5 and creamy and perfect, nearly as good as LuGia and Abbott, but the Banana was even better. It was a 7/5 or something. It was addictively good. It made me not even interested in the vanilla. It's not supposed to be that good, because I hate fake banana flavouring. And yet somehow they made this one taste - just - like - heaven. I hope it settles nicely in your tummy though. I wouldn't want you to get "the russ." Brilliant work from them. I will most definitely be back to try other flavours at this dirt cheap squirt of custard cone heaven in Chili. And by the way I just wanna say how hilariously ridiculous it is that locals pronounce this town "Chai-Lie." They really do. So if you come here looking for some Chili Dogs or Chili Con Carne, you're out of luck. But if you Lie and say you like Chai tea (a Chai Lie) then you're absolutely in luck. Oh and dogs love this place. Especially Jack Russell's. And they don't sell candy. Not even Russell's Stovers. And my fave actress? René Russ-ell.

PB Banana Twist Custard with Crunch coat!
Amy L.

Russell's is a great ice cream stand with soft custard and hard ice cream choices. Sizes/Prices are very reasonable. They have some rotating custard flavors and recently they had banana and peanut butter - I was so excited that you could twist them! The PB/Banana combo was tasty but the flavors were very subtle, I would've liked them a little more robust but it was rich and creamy. What I like best about Russell's is that they have Dole Whip which is a non-dairy soft yogurt like option and the fruit flavors are always amazing! They also have crunch coat which is like a peanut/praline/sprinkle mix that I am addicted to - you must try it. I actually get my ice cream in a dish (usually always get a cone otherwise) so that I can get extra crunch coat. They are cash only, no cards! They have coupons in the Entertainment book as well as the SaveAround book and makes for some great deals.

Imagine it's the dead of winter and you want a Hot Fudge Sundae anyway. Well, you're in luck! Russell's Ice Cream is open year round. They have soft serve, frozen yogurt and hard ice cream in an array of tantalizing flavors with all the sundae toppings you could wish for (including my favorite Marshmallow, which can be hard to find). One word of warning, it's cash only at Russell's.

They have the best soft serve in the area. I've been eating it there since I was a kid. Haven't found one better.

This is such a cute place! I had heard so much about their ice-creams so I had been wanting to…read morecheck it out. I got a double scoop with pistachio biscotti and cherry vanilla bean. Both flavors were incredible: super creamy and rich. My friend got chocolate almond fudge, and that was just as good. We also grabbed some baked treats to go (brownie, whoopie pie, and muffins), and everything tasted amazing. Other than sweet treats, they also have coffees and teas on their menu, and a bunch of different dairy products. It feels cozy, local, and authentic - like everything is fresh or straight from the farm. It's actually part of a long-standing local farm operation, which makes the experience feel even more genuine. I also loved that they support other local businesses and sell products from them, it adds to that community feel. Overall, this place is more than just an ice cream stop, it's a whole experience. Definitely coming back.

Ab Bots are very good looking muscular people on Yelp who lure you in with their ripped physique in…read moretheir professional-looking profile photo, but are actually not real. They're just spamming the site and writing fake reviews. Thankfully none of them are in any way associated with this, one of the best frozen custard places not just in Rochester, but in the whole world. What to get: Vanilla Frozen Custard What else: My mother's phone number If all of the people working here had nasty pubic lice, it would be Crabbotts. Thankfully, it's not. There's something very special about Abbott's. I love frozen custard, but all custards are not created equal. I get so maniacally enthusiastic about this stuff that I usually end up in Police Custardy. If the people here were all overweight, it would be Flabbotts. You'll find Abbott's inside Bill Gray's. It's a separate business that shares a space, much like Taco Bell/KFC do in many places. The employees inside work for both. If people were often abducted here, it'd be Nabbotts. It's one of my "best 5 custards I've ever had." I think I like custard more than ice cream, more than fro yo, less than real gelato, but that's beside the point. Focusing specifically on custard, which is sort of like soft-serve-but-creamier, the best in the country are Leon's in Milwaukee, followed by Nielsen's in Vienna, VA just outside DC, and then Abbott's in 3rd. After that, I think Cleveland has the next-best, and then there are a lot that are more or less tied. If Scientists worked here, it'd be Labbotts. There are many BG/Abbott's in Rochester, and a couple in Buffalo. In my experience they have all been fantastic. If it was full of Canadians and beer, it'd be Labbatts. If you haven't been, come here and try it to see for yourself how good it is. I will admit that I used to enjoy it more a few years ago. I'm not sure if the custard changed, or my tastes did. I feel like it used to be harder, they'd dig it out of a bucket or something, and it was amazing. These days it's softer and more melty, more like soft serve. I'm going to try the other Rochester locations at some point and see how they are. If it were full of narks, snitches, rats and informants, it'd be Blabbotts. Anyway, it's still fantastic, creamy, sinfully delicious custard that is better than the next-best version (Don's) in the area. Come and give it a try and see for yourself what all the Rochesteritonianisticalishy fuss is Abbott. And if it kept changing its windows, it'd be ALT+TABbotts.
