Icky, gooey leftovers, scraped down, too often to be appetizing. And they wouldn't dip from the fresh carton carton.

If you're not a chocolate snob, this is a GREAT place to get Russell Stover's chocolates at very reasonable prices. They have a lot of previous Holiday-packaged (Easter, Valentine's Day, Halloween, Christmas) candies that still taste completely fresh, at greatly reduced prices. Just head to the back half of the store for those, and be sure to try one of the individually-wrapped sea salt caramel chocolate hearts, eggs, or pumpkins at half price or better! On one side upfront are large boxes of Russell Stovers "bloopers" (imperfect) assorted chocolates, BOGO Free! And past the very disappointing ice cream counter, there's a huge selection of current, regularly priced, every-day-packaged chocolates and Jelly Bellies of every variety. I'd have given a 4-star rating if not for that ice cream bar. But I remember the days when I could go there and get big dips of fabulously fresh, delicious (I think Blue Bell) ice cream at a decent price. The ice cream in the barrels had been scraped down from the sides so much it was just icky gooey and unappetizing. And right next to those were fresh containers, but the employee refused to dip from those...said he couldn't as long as they had the "other stuff." And having gone in on a hot 4th of July specifically for the ice cream I remember, I would've left happy with a double dip cone. But NO!. Had I been in charge, I'd have happily dipped up the fresh stuff for anybody who came in, and had happy customers, and a much better review that would've drawn more people in!

Lots of flavors of ice cream.

We get ice cream sundaes every year on Valentine's Day, and this was our first time at Russel Stover's. Yes, they have ice cream, and sundaes, and they are delicious! The fudge topping is just like their rich chocolate candies. The ice cream is tasty too. We had the Coffee, Mint Chip, and Banana Split sundaes - All were great. There's even places to sit inside or outside, to eat them.

    Even on a rainy day!

Yes I do have the tendencies to eat and act like an 80 roman. That being said this ice cream is good for all ages. Deliciousness

I love a lot of spots around the metro, but let's be honest, some of them get crazy busy and you end up waiting in line for a while. That's not a dealbreaker, but with a summer of social distancing, it's nice to have a spot like Annedore's that is tucked into the neighborhoods, has outdoor seating, and is never too busy. Their gelato is so good, and the service is friendly as it gets. We've made a tradition of walking up here as a family once a week, and together we've ordered or sampled: Cookies & Cream, Birthday Cake, Mint Chip, Chocolate Chip, Coconut, Strawberry, Berry Sorbet, Vanilla, and Lemon Basil. All are great (not crazy about the birthday cake one my kiddo always gets), the Berry Sorbet and Lemon Basil are standouts on a hot day. Their portions are generous, prices are very fair, the outdoor seating is great, and it's a very clean shop. Oh, and I recently discovered that macarons are delicious, and theirs are some of the best around. They're around $2.50 a pop and well worth it. I cannot recommend this place enough for gelato, macarons, and of course chocolate if that's your thing. Want to skip lines for ice cream (well, gelato) this summer and still support local? This is your spot. Bookmark it!

Julian, the Director, is a fan of this place and he'd sometimes order an array of cakes for the staff to enjoy, they always went fast, and it was my first foray into European style cakes like what Andre's serves up. Flash forward more than a decade and I've been here a few times, sometimes to get chocolates for a friend, other times (like last night) for a meal. I didn't realize that Andre's does special events like their fondue nights. I have a feeling these are annual so you might have to wait until 2027 to snag a seat at the table, but their fondue meal was so much fun and comes with some history from their staff. Fun thing I learned was that they sell their fondue year round in the shop so if you ever want to do a unique date night at home just pop into Andres and purchase some to-go. It would be such a fun way to spend a Saturday at home. Finally, I'm going to add that for me what takes Andre's to the next level and makes it a must visit spot in KC is the history. It's been in the same family for generations, the recipes are authentic, and the owners are really kind people. It's the kind of business you can feel good about supporting and I'll be back!

My friend has celiac disease, so it's important to me to ensure my gifts to her meet her dietary restrictions. I checked online and discovered that almost all of Andre's chocolates are gluten-free and--better yet--they were open on Christmas Eve until 4 pm. So I dashed over after work, arriving at 3:40, and the folks behind the counter were all so kind and so helpful. I explained what I needed and they showed me the ready-made boxes of chocolates available--but then offered to put one together for me right then, to make sure that we chose exactly what she wanted and that every chocolate was gluten-free. They guided me through the choices, telling me the flavors that were in some of the selections, and giving their recommendations based on my friend's tastes. How nice of them!! I walked out close to the stroke of 4 pm, with the perfect box of chocolates in a lovely gift box. Hurray!! I really appreciate the staff's kindness, and going the extra distance for my friend, at the very end of their work day before the holiday started. Thank you SO much to everyone at Andre's, and Merry Christmas!

We arrived about 30 minutes before they closed on a Saturday. Apparently, lots of people know about this little bakery. There wasn't many cookies left but we lucked into 3 peanut butter chocolate chips cookies and one dipped chocolate chip cookie. The guy working was the son of the owner and said they didn't make as many items on Saturdays as they're closed on Sundays and didn't want to serve anything not freshly baked. I appreciate that! Our cookies were so good. They were soft yet chewy and all the flavors were there i.e. the chocolate peanut butter was a chocolate cookie with chocolate chips with the peanut butter taste equal to the chocolate. And, at less than $2.00 per cookie, they are a great deal. Quality ingredients are not cheap so this price is quite reasonable. Absolutely recommend!
