When we would travel, we would always stop at its sugar location because we did not have one close to us. My children love coming here and seeing all the nostalgic candy from their parent's childhood and even their own. This is a great store if you have someone that's hard to shop for. We walked into this candy shop because we like to see unique candies. This place had a bunch of unique candies to try. We looked at some foreign candy and drinks. They had a sour patch kids flavor drink we had to try. We hadn't seen it anywhere else before. One thing about candy shops, they normally have center displays with chewy candies you can buy by the weight. This allows you to try a bunch of different things in one place. This is the option we went with in addition to the sour patch kids soda. The layout is nice and they really do have options I haven't seen other places. The decor pops and it inviting. Everything is clean and seems well taken care of. The employee was very helpful, a little too much since he kept asking us if we had questions, but we were the only patrons in the store. Overall, it was a more unique shop then some of the stores you might shop in, but still commercialized. If you like candy though, its definitely worth a try. Oh.. and the sour patch kids soda was waaaaaay to sweet. It wasn't sour at all. This was my first visit to the CCP in two years and I was pleasantly surprised to see this candy shop after leaving Barnes and Noble. Here is my experience: 1. Variety: The variety of the candy was awesome. They had different sizes, flavors, and Knick-knacks. We had fun browsing the selection. They also had fun socks and different flavored popcorn. 2. Get ready to get cozy: This is a boutique candy shop, so it's small. A group of five ladies came in and instantly I felt crowded out. It didn't help that an employee was stocking candy while customers were shopping. It made it difficult to stay out of her way so she could work. 3. Be ready to spend: Yep, the nostalgia comes with a price. It's definitely more expensive than most places. For two bags of candy, we spent $22! 4. Customer Service: I was greeted when I arrived and the cashier was very pleasant. Her coworker stocking the store wasn't as friendly, but as I mentioned earlier, she was stocking candy and folks kept getting in her way. Overall, this isn't a place I would come all the time based on the prices. It is a really neat store and you'll get a few laughs. Place had precautions in place to keep things sanitary. Every customers is given disposable gloves and hand sanitizer upon entry. Employees and costumers must wear masks. Employees must sanitize doors/shelves often, as they did in the short time we were there. Employees were friendly. Candy was great! Super fresh! Always a fun stop for the kids when we're on the Plaza. Bulk candy is sold by the pound. Our kids love picking out their own treats. Lots of gummy candies are available in bulk. Ingredients are listed on the containers. The staff is friendly and does a good job making sure everyone is using the tongs to grab their candy choices. They even helped the kids weigh their bags. In addition to bulk candy they have lost a of novelty products, toys, stuffed animals, and other harder to find candy. Fun place to pick up a special gift for someone. read more

Me and my family are in town from Nebraska this weekend just to get out and see new things. We stopped in, after a few minutes we saw a mother and her two girls walk in as well. Immediately the employees standing behind the counter began to yell at the family telling them to wear a mask. (Nothing like making a scene in front of the entire store to make them feel awkward). Not long after that, another employee was yelling (again from behind the counter) at the youngest girl that she needed gloves to grab bulk candy. She was on the verge of crying. I know many of us forget to put on masks before walking into establishments but a friendly reminder would have been a LOT nicer. After this visit, the incident ruined our trip to the candy store. Don't pay attention to the one star reviews. Staff were polite and watching everyone in a large crowd to make sure candy wasn't being touched. Of course you can't just take candy out of the bins and then put it back. Be reasonable. And yeah, adults should be watched just as closely as anybody else, regardless of their race. There are ignorant people. All the candy would be contaminated if they just hoped for the best and didn't watch their customers. I can't wait to come back and buy a bunch of candy. My sister and I was visiting from out of town. No one greeted her when she came in. Then she asked if there were any specials both girls told her very rudely while they stared at their cell phones, No! My sister loves candy stores and this was the second one we went to that day. She later saw a man with a box and she said how can I get one of those and how much. They told her $15 and pointed at the box's. These two young ladies we're lazy, not engaged, did NOT provide any customer service you expect in a fun store like this. The whole time I was looking around she was following me like I was going to steal something. When choosing your own candy, there was no sign for how much anything cost. PEOPLE OF COLOR: BEWARE. Boyfriend and I went in there for "dessert" after a nice dinner in the area. We had our dog with us, so I told him to go in there first, while I waited outside with our pup and then we'd switch off. I had volunteered to pay since he paid for dinner, so I just told him to leave the bag at the counter when he was done and I'd go in there and grab it when it was my turn. The next thing you know, he's walking out of there with his head down and bag and hand. I asked what happened, as I was supposed to buy. He told me two of the workers stood on each side of him as he walked around the store picking out his candy, watching him as if he was going to steal something. He was so saddened and embarrassed that he felt the need to pay for it, so that way they knew he had money. Of course, I'm irate, so I go ask to speak to the manager. I politely introduced myself (although I'm sure there was steam coming out of my ears!) and tell her what just happened. She tells me, "We watch everyone very closely. Our main concern is to make sure people don't put their hands in the jars." He is a 30 year old man of color (with a very big sweet tooth!!!) and I am 25 year old white woman. I said, "If you think 2 grown adults don't know how to keep their hands out of a candy jar, then we shouldn't even be shopping here!" The crazy thing is that he said both of them came from behind the counter to follow him around. The crazier thing is that we had JUST talked about how he said he never once has felt like he's been singled out because of the color of his skin. He said he's never even been called the "N" word-despite the fact that he's from the South. And here we are in a candy store, of all places, and he's being followed around the store. Pathetic. I have been to its sugar a couple of times in the past month, and I have been assisted by the same girl every time. The manager needs to be aware that every single time I have come in, she has been on the phone, on what sounds like a personal phone call. The manager needs to take care of this immediately, as it is extremely rude and a huge turnoff for customers that walk in. She did not acknowledge me whatsoever when I came into the store and continued to talk on the phone even as she rung up my purchase at the register. I will not be returning. If it was up to me this place would receive not one star at all. The floors are always dirty and the customer service is horrible most of the time. The candy bins are dirty and the shelves are unorganized. Whatever you do, do not ask any of the women that wear glasses there for help. They are rude, lazy, arrogant and I do not like their tone witb children. Not to mention, anytime I see these people theyre in sweat pants and slippers.The only times I've been in this store where it has looked up to par and the customer service was professional and phenomenal with adults and especially children is when the young skinnier lady with black hair who doesn't wear glasses is there.She is friendly, constantly smiling, has great energy, and is an incredible help. She's also the only one I don't see sitting behind the counter or in the back room on her phone. So as far as advice goes, do not enter this store if you see anyone with glasses working unless you feel like dealing with rude people. read more
