This is a great park. It's one of the only areas of Lowell where you can actually "climb" a hill,…read morealthough with all the trees in summer you won't get much of a view ;) You can catch glimpses of the mountains of New Hampshire if yoou're lucky though. The park is about 35 acres, 22 of which are wooded, meaning unkept. There are some awesome old gnarly trees growing in there, and lots of birch and maple I think. It's a great palce to get away from "the city" and be in nature for awhile. I didn't see any facilities like playgrounds or bathrooms, so if you bring kids, make 'em pee ahead of time, and bring some toys or something. No dogs allowed in the wooded area according to a sign, but we saw dogs (on leashes) in there anyway. It felt so good to be up high again after living in Colorado, even though the hike to the "summit" only takes about 5 minutes. BONUS: just down the street is a hand-held car wash with vacuums. Part of the Belividere neighborhood, this park is definitely worth a visit at least once per season just to see how it changes. There's a paved trail to the top of the hill so you don't have to climb through the woods unless you want to. BONUS 2: Geocaching spots nearby...

I don't know if the type of vacation (hiking and camping) helped to self select the people but by the end of the week we had gotten really close as a group. SUP YO also picked amazing guides. They were fun, funny, knowledgeable, and basically one of the gang with guide authority. The owner of the company came with us on this trip. She was fun, did everything we did, never put on any airs, and I felt like she was "one of us.". All of the food, hotel, etc was taken care of. We even celebrated a birthday for one one of the hikers in the group! I am looking for more trips to go on with SUP YO and a group of us are planning to go in another trip or a weekend hike together again!!

There's a newly paved, wide walkway for strollers, bicyclists and pedestrians. It runs about 1/8…read moremile along the Concord River. It has a small parking lot for about a half dozen cars. This walkway is just behind Lowell Cemetery and is maintained by Lowell Parks and Conservation Trust. It's really short at this point, but they're talking about expanding it. There's a pretty waterfall right in front of an old mill. It gets only three stars because it's really short and there's a lot of ugly, weedy overgrowth along the path. It's also lined with ugly power lines and the abandoned mill on the other side of the river is an eye sore. However, it's newly paved with a nice view of the rolling river.
