Plus, your library card allows you to access digital collections too; I have an audiobook checked out right now. The staff have always been kind and helpful and the library also hosts events and clubs for the public. I'm a regular at one of those clubs. It helped me make some friends with shared interests after I moved here. This is one of my favorite places in town.

The librarian will give you a tour and share with you the history of this beautiful building. Not the usual type or style of building you would find in a small east Texas town. Built in 1934 during the Big oil Boom. In addition to being a Beautiful library, we spent a little time in the children's section. Great selection of titles and genres for all levels of readers. On the bulletin board we quickly checked out some of the summer activities. We live out of town. But if we were local this would be a place we would frequently come too.

Even with the earlier closing time, I'm certain we had time to get a card and the books my kiddos needed for a report. I even had a list of the books needed. We will be traveling further to get our library cards to a library that embraces and encourages literacy, as this one seems to be a lost cause My advice for the library management is to seek employees or find volunteers that will welcome patrons, not turn them away because they want to leave early.

The library is of a size that one would expect for a community the size of Alto, yet it has distinguished itself by the vision, scope and quality of its special collections.
