I came in for rotors and brakes, and it was done within four hours. I couldn't believe how fast Dustin took care of me, I would recommend this auto shop over any other in the area. While my friend and I, fresh high school graduates, were traveling through Colorado on a road trip, our car suffered a major oil pipe leak. Stranded and alone, we were directed to Rushton's for help by 2 separate mechanics. Dustin, lead mechanic, was incredibly knowledgeable about our circumstance, and directed up to a nearby auto store to pick up a incredibly specific part they had. Upon retrieval, Dustin offered to fix our car right then and there, a two hour long repair job 30 minutes before he closed. When completed, he charged us only $200 for the total repair, a massive deal compared to what other competitors were offering. Dustin stayed 2 hours after closing to make sure our car was working properly, and even gave us free oil to continue on our journey. If your ever having car trouble in Salida, Ruston's Automotive is the best, most cost efficient, and customer-service oriented repair shop. Dustin could have easily taken advantage of us, or simply refused to help us that night, but his time and commitment to customer service is beyond anything I have ever seen. 5 stars is not high enough of a review score. read more

These guys are awesome!!! I'm writing this review at risk of making it even harder to get an appointment here than it already is. I had an electrical issue in my camper van that 5 other professionals had looked at over the last couple years and everyone shrugged their shoulders. I even wasted $300 on replacing a fan that turned out not to be broken. Dustin was able to diagnose and fix the problem in about a half hour! Dustin has done a proper diagnosis and repair on two foreign vehicles for me, at a very fair price, with no charge for the diagnosis! Thanks Dustin!! I had several issues with a 1996 Honda Odessey, and he thoroughly looked it over, and took the time to explain to me what he found wrong, and which things were more and less important to get fixed. He told me before working on it what it would cost, and the price was the same when he was done. And! When he was done, it was fixed in the ways I'd hired him to do :) I later bought a 2007 BMW X3, and thought it might be too fancy for him to work on (my mistake), so I made an appoiniment with Mike's Garage and paid almost $175 for them to examine it. They recommended about $4000 in repairs. I thought maybe I'd bought a car with bigger problems than I'd realized. After sleeping on it, I asked Dustin at Rushton's Automotive what it would cost to get him to examine it (I didn't say anything about Mike's), and he said, sure, no cost to diagnose it, and told me a time later that day when he could look at it (!). The main part that was causing my complaint, he said was a $130 repair (Mike's had said it was a different part, costing $1800). I cancelled my appointment at Mike's, had Dustin do the work, and guess what? It was resolved properly. Everybody can make mistakes, and I'm only a backyard mechanic, maybe Mike's does good work for other people. But in this case Dustin saved me a ton of money and most importantly, properly diagnosed and repaired my car. I've had him work on my cars 4 or 5 times, and every time has been a very good experience. When I have questions, I don't feel stupid asking him to explain things, he is very respectful and helpful, and his labor charges are very reasonable. Highly recommended :) read more

My husband is on a dual sport (dirt bike that's street legal) ride from the Mexico border to the Canadian border. He was having problems with the gas cap on his older Honda knowing that motorcycle shops wouldn't have it in stock. He wears the "chase truck driver" today getting him in to Salida before the 8 other riders. He went to see Dustin about the gas cap. Dustin sold my husband the gas cap or his personal motorcycle!
