The vendors were all very friendly and helpful. We purchased a delicious cantaloupe and some homemade peach jam. Many vendors also offered dried candies which I haven't seen before but apparently that's very popular these days! They also had dried pickles, okra and other vegetables which I'd like to try next time!

A few food trucks on site as well. Prices were reasonable friendly people and looks like pets allowed on a leash. When I asked a syrup vendor where they are getting their "Maple" syrup she repaid we make it. Interesting since there are no Maple trees in West Texas. As soon as I mentioned we are from Connecticut and Michigan and we know real Maple syrup she changed her tune and said "it's not real Maple syrup but all our other flavors are real". She did have assorted flavors like blueberry, strawberry and so on. Don't be afraid to ask questions when it comes to people selling food items. This was the only negative experience we had here. On this trip, I just went in for some general groceries, and I wasn't looking for anything in particular, just wanted to check it out, mostly. I came in around 10:00 am on the Saturday of the annual Army/Navy football game, so for some reason, I thought it would be pretty busy. Contrary to what I had pictured, there were maybe 10 other customers in the store, at best. The store is organized pretty much how every other commissary (or normal grocery store) I've been in has been. Basically, you walk in near the deli area, and if you make the loop, you'll go through produce, then to the meat counter in the very back, dairy, and then frozen, with all the dry goods and shelf-stable items on the aisles in the middle. I didn't find the staff particularly welcoming or nice, but I got in, got my stuff, and got out in a pretty decent amount of time since it was slow. Not sure if this is the regular, but I definitely won't complain. I would definitely go back.

The staff was helpful with me in finding items as I'm new to San Angelo and not familiar with the store. So, here is why I'm giving 3 stars. When I got to the checkout the gentleman checking out my groceries and the young lady bagging were friendly and welcoming and we were having a nice conversation. However, there was an older lady employee standing directly behind them who noticed my California T-shirt and asked me if I've been to California. I said yes and we moved from California to Michigan and here to San Angelo exactly 1 month ago today 2/14/2026. She asked me if I liked California better than San Angelo and I replied yes and she quickly replied sarcastically "well you heed to go back then". The guy and lady checking/bagging my groceries and I made eye contact with that look on our faces did she just say that? We all have our favorites and the proper response should have been "yes CA is nice and I hope you will find San Angelo a nice place to live" or something along that line. So that is why I'm giving 3 . I will not let this experience keep me from returning and will definitely look forward to hers and mine next interaction and hopefully there's an apology.
