A tree we purchased 10 months ago has not been doing well. It has been properly planted and cared for-even "babied" along-and still not doing well. We are not at all new to tree planting or basic knowledge, so to have this kind of issue is very very rare for us. We have inquired back with Browns 3 times now as to what we can do to help this tree make it, and have gotten zero help or answers this far. We are getting the feeling that they are just waiting for our 1 year from purchase guarantee to pass by so that they can skip their commitment. We do not necessarily want the tree to be replaced, we want their input to know to make this tree thrive better and we are not getting it. Our next tree/shrubs may be coming from someplace else. Update from initial paragraphs above... absolutely zero "customer service" for the tree, and our time ran out. We had to cut it down. $300+ in the burn pile. Early in the season for this trip over the weekend, I bought a flat of pansies and violas, like I do each spring, and some seed potatoes (Irish Cobbler). They are far cheaper than any Lowe's or Home Depot at $1.78 per 3 pack of annuals, and far better quality. There is a resident mouser, always willing to greet customers at the counter, and the cool stone room, a respite in the humid days of summer, houses a good selection of high quality pet food, bulk dog treats, a wide variety of bird seeds and feeders, garden seed in bulk, seed potatoes, onion sets and other garden treasures displayed in original wooden bins. Outside, you'll find trellises, tomato cages, cement yard ornaments and bird baths, too. When I find a space that needs a tree or a perennial bush, like an oak leaf hydrangea, I trust Minges because they offer a year guarantee on anything they sell. The prices are in line with any other garden supply store and big box home chain, but to my knowledge, I've never been given a guarantee by those places. Not that it matters, I've never needed it--each tree and shrub I've purchased from Minges always exceeds my expectations. Additionally, they have a nice little walk back by a log cabin and a set of barns that houses some farm animals and even a domesticated deer for the kiddo's. For a company of this size, it raises serious questions about how these kinds of customer experiences continue without more accountability. Per the Menards way, you get excellent pricing + their rebate program for most of the year. I honestly come here once a week, if not more often. Whereas I go to Lowes maybe once a month and Home Depot once a quarter, if that - even with having both Lowes and Home Depot credit cards. This Menards meets if not exceeds 95% of my needs. Love that they have numerous grocery items too.
