I like them. They are caring and kind. Dr. Dienes help me make a very hard decision on my Shelby dog who was suffering. He was 16 years old. So I held him and he looked in my eyes and went to sleep forever. I just turned and walked away. I could do nothing else but pay the bill. read more

For the last 13 years Rupert Animal Clinic has been the go to for my pup. From her being tumbled by a truck when she was about a year old to the appointment this last week, where she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer- they have been wonderful to her and by extension me. When looking at options for her, Dr. Hines was very good at going over his assessment and what to expect with the progression of her end of life care. Seeing all of the poor reviews makes me sad because this has not ever once been my experience with this clinic in 13 years. Healthcare for humans as well as animals is a difficult line to straddle and for every bad experience there are amazing ones- and I will continue to use this clinic for all my animals needs as long as I have animals. read more

Brought our year old dog to get neutered and had a bad experience. Chose the clinic due to the marketing of higher technology in the area and wanted a laser neuter. I have had another male dog neutered the same way with no complications in a different state. We were told it was policy here to keep him overnight following the surgery. Despite us saying we would feel more comfortable taking him home multiple times they insisted he stay and didn't give us any other options. They didn't have overnight staff, but apparently the vet checks on them overnight. Did this happen? We are not sure. No updates were given. We were told to pick him up after 10am the following day. First thing when we got home he peed for a solid minute making me wonder when the last time he was let out to go the bathroom?! Then, when we take him inside we notice the incision is poorly put together and red/swollen. It appeared to have been licked raw so I called the clinic and was told they "watch the dogs after surgery for a little bit to see if they are licking and if they are not we don't put anything on them." So in my opinion he was able to sit in a kennel licking his incision all night because there was no one there watching him. Whereas if he would've been at home we could've told him no and kept an eye on him. We had to go back into the clinic because they forgot to give us his microchip paperwork and we brought our dog back in to hopefully show the vet what it was looking like and show our concerns. We instead were greeted by a girl working there in the lobby who took 2 seconds to look at it saying that it "looked normal" and was "swollen because he was pretty active in the cage all night." Well of course he couldn't get comfortable in a cage with other animals surrounding him! When I finally got a chance to talk I expressed to her my concerns and that it would've been nice had they told us at pickup that the vet noticed some swelling and redness this morning she was quite rude and told me "we typically do not tell owners about those things because they tend to think it's worse than what it really is." So they apparently don't think filling owners in on the status of their pet is good to do. Had I been made aware of this issue to begin with perhaps we wouldn't have been so upset; but this incision did look like a hack job. Overall it was a terrible experience. I did not find the worker there to be professional in our discussion and got the vibe that they do not truly care about the well-being of the animal. Their communication is nonexistent. No updates were given throughout the process and no after care was discussed. I was unable to speak with the vet himself, but I would not take my dog here again. It's pretty bad when you should be able to trust your dog being left at a vet overnight, but instead feel like you could've prevented this all by having him at your own home like we originally wanted. If you consider your pet family as opposed to another farm dog or working animal I wouldn't suggest this clinic. read more

Took our baby boy puppy and the vet was able to remove five kidney stones. About two months later our baby started having like issues but worse. We were kept informed about our options which were not good. He was only four years old and we had him as a baby. He fathered a litter of seven babies which we still have the runt of the litter and she is our angel from him and heaven. We had to put our little man down because he was in so much pain. He knew what was going on and licked both of our hands. We held him through his last breath and he now sit on our mantle with his harness, leash and stones. The compassion we received from the staff was awesome. Another comment said the cost of spay, vaccines and Bordella. It costs to own a pet. Don't own one if you are not willing to pay for its care. Another complained they had to make an appointment. Common sense says the vet needs to see the pet to make sure what is really going on. No different than a human doctor seeing a human patient. There is no such thing as a cursory glance. The real kicker in that comment was "someone's valuable time." They want that from a licensed vet? That in fact would be considered malpractice. P.S. Contrary to the information posted on their website, I was informed I would have to schedule a separate appointment to have a question I had asked regarding a lesion on my pet answered. Didn't ask for a full exam, didn't ask for surgery, just a cursory glance to determine if it was anything serious, perhaps 3-5 SECONDS of someone's valuable time. All this tells me is that Rupert Animal Clinic is solely concerned with wasting my time for a return trip and wanting money for a scheduled visit. Should my pet require any vet services, another vet clinic shall suffice. Poor customer service at best. Definitely recommend against bringing your pet here. read more

Don't take a good vet for granted, that's what I say. I currently live in another state and have taken my 10 year old dog to numerous vets over the years (California, Colorado, Vegas, and then some). Never have I ever received the attention and care I've gotten w/Dr. Hines. Within the past 3 months alone, my dog went to 3 different vets for a horrible and painful skin problem that broke out all over her body. The first vet: I spent more time ponying up the $175 for the visit than the Dr. spent actually looking at my dog. He performed a woods lamp exam for ringworm. Even without Google or a veterinary degree, I could tell it wasn't ringworm. Thanks for taking my money. Second vet: "Here's some spray, now here's your bill. Bring her back in two weeks so I can charge you another visit." No tests, nothing. Between the two, I felt like I got nowhere. No definitive answer on why this affected my dog and the medication given wasn't even for a diagnosed condition. Just some general topical spray. I could have bought it at Petsmart and saved myself the time and money. Recently, on a visit to Idaho, I planned ahead to bring my dog to the Rupert Animal Clinic. I asked the same questions, had the same concerns and now have different results. Dr. Hines gave me options on what route to take, ran appropriate tests and communicated with me every step of the way (even calling me personally when test results came in). My primary concern was cancer. Our dog is like our child- we'll pay the money if we can keep her healthy and safe. In the future, I've resolved to bring my dog to Rupert Animal Clinic on our annual trip for all of her exams. I know she won't be treated as a little cash cow to exploit an owner's love for pets. read more

Having a sick critter is the worst. I'm a single mom and a full time student, and when a stray we took in got sick, I went searching for help. I couldn't afford a visit, but was given some great pointers and medication suggestions. Our little kitten is on his way to recovery, and he wouldn't have been without the help of Rupert Animal Clinic. Marie dealt with me more than once and offered tips I never would have thought of. As soon as I can, I can't wait to get him in for an exam. Having had an amazing vet before we moved to the area, I am so grateful to have found another vet and staff that really care about the animals and treat them like family just like I do. I highly recommend them, not only for their great staff and low cost for the area, but also because they have a large pharmacy and will give consults on their products. read more
