Communal seating

Although it's a vineyard, you could consider this place a beer garden too. They have a selection of about 17 craft beers, covering a wide range of styles. The atmosphere is pretty cool, with live music and outdoor seating, a very nice and relaxed atmosphere. Food is served out of a small food truck with a limited menu; hot dogs, brats, fries and quesadillas, not the best, but it does the job.

Southern Maryland adventures! This winery is about an hour from my house without traffic, and I was very excited to give it a try -- a goal of mine is to hit as many wineries in PG & Calvert as possible. I was excited once I arrived at the entrance, but was shocked it was another mile and some before actually getting to the tasting room LOL! There were speed bumps, reception was near zero, and parts of the road were heavily covered with trees making it dark... whoa! I finally arrived at the main part though, and finding parking was easy. I passed by a cool looking outdoor tasting room (that currently isn't open) and the vineyards. From the general parking lot, it's a bit of a hike to get to the main building haha. I walked through what looked like a wedding setup, but what really stole the show was the tunnel... you could see real grapes growing in there and it just felt so classy! The building itself was surrounded by tons of outdoor seating, mostly shaded. It was a pretty hot day, so indoor seemed like the move. When I went inside, I must say I was obsessed with the chandelier... and there was live music! I was the first to arrive, so I didn't order any wine yet, but I saw there were a few options... 9, if I recall, including sangria and two slushies. I only ended up trying the semi-sweet red and white... which were actually quite sweet, haha. If those were semi-sweet, I can't help but wonder what the sweet ones are like. The weakest (ABV) wine was 13%, and the others just went up from there... that's up there! Aside from the sweetness, the semi-sweets tasted fine -- I wouldn't consider them refreshing though. Next time I need to try their dry wines next time. Too bad you can't just taste! As for food, they have a food truck outside -- Hungry Hare. the item is already limited, but they were also out of wings and fries. So it was either going to be a hot dog, quesadilla or fancy grilled cheese. We had food plans after, so I opted for a hot dog... but for $5 it's literally just the dog and the bun... that's pricey, isn't it?? It was piping hot and tasty though... but yeah, really expensive. The grilled cheeses were $16 and up and came with no sides. But anyways, the vineyard was beautiful and I would return to try more!

My first flight! A little too sweet for me

Finally made my way to Running Hare Vineyard. Being that this weekend is going to be my mothers first heavenly birthday I decided to keep myself busy and do all things that make me happy or bring me joy... The sun is shining and this flight is about to take me exactly where I want to be :))) well at least I thought it would have... Quick update!!: we personally didn't not enjoy the syrupy/sweet, semi sweet selections. I prefer bubbly, light and crisp wines, such as Riesling or Prosecco...or champagne...however they didn't have any of those options. I also had a slushy: strawberry lime and pineapple flavors. The slushys were just ok for me...too sweet! Service is excellent. Anne is amazing!!! And for food I've opted for a charcuterie box minus the meat. I had my mind set on a pizza but unfortunately pizzas weren't available today and the Running Hare food truck options were limited but we did enjoy a cheesesteak sandwich and surprisingly it was good! They did have a band playing inside...but I opted to sit outside and soak up as much sun as I could... If the wine selections change then I would possibly venture back but if not...I can mark this one off my list. Happy Yelping! Cheers!!

While the DMV was in a Beyoncé frenzy, I went to Running Hare Vineyard. I love it there. It is a beautiful venue (the grounds, pavilion and villa) . I didn't plan properly because I-495 was a parking lot!!! It was worth the hassle tenfold. The wines are decent. I ordered the 3 oz wine flight with four samples. 1. Jack Rabbit White (semi-sweet) - My favorite, and I took a bottle home. 2. Malbec Reserve 2022 (dry) - This was okay. I typically love Malbec/reds. 3. Sangiovese Reserve (dry) - Didn't like this red at all. It left a bitter aftertaste. 4. Chambourcin (sweet). This is a dessert wine. It was smooth. I liked it and took a bottle home. They had live music, although the band wasn't my cup of tea. Still...the view was to live for. Thursday is 25% off drinks/bottles, and no band. There was a food truck in the back. I wanted wings and fries, but they'd ran out. I had the quesadilla and the turkey and Brie melt sandwich. It was very good. Note that you can bring your own food with you. The customer service is great. They come around the seating area to check on you and refill/take orders.

A must do when in Maryland. This place pretty much looks like Italy but it is in the heart of Southern Maryland. Be prepared to be carded upon entry even if you are 50 something. Hate the game - not the players. Also be ready to pay a cover charge - that you can hate the players for but somewhat understandable as prices are high to cover unexpected energy costs etc. Ok. There on a Sunday afternoon. My wife got the wine slushee. This is pretty much 16-333 ounces of slushy wine. Caution. It's very good. I had the boujy mimosa sampler. Super good. The day we went, they were not doing wine samplers until 2pm, so fair warning. Music was good. Weather was great. Staff was great. Highly recommended trip down to Prince Frederick area for Running Hare.

Two words.... Awesome Staff!!!! My family surprised me with an early birthday celebration at Running Hare Vineyard on June 19, 2022, and it was amazing. When I arrived, I was like...How did I not know about this place? It's wonderful. At the entrance, we were greeted by two lovely staff members who provided an overview of the vineyard and informed us that we must try the slushees. We found a table, set up and simply enjoyed the beautiful weather, music, food and slushees. The staff at this vineyard were superb and displayed the best customer service. I can't wait to go back. This place is truly a gem!! 2 thumbs up!! Tips: Parking-Plenty Entry fee: $5.00 dollars Bring your ID

This place is super low key. You would never in a million years expect something like this to be on of all places Adelina Rd. Nothing wrong with the area, it's just that unless you know someone who lives there, it's just a place that most people pass regularly without giving it much thought. Not to mention I grew up in the county, and never even knew it existed until 3 months ago. I tried to find out exactly when it opened but couldn't, I was able to see reviews from 2011 though which was shocking...lol The vineyard itself, is beautiful. I've never been to Tuscany or Napa, but the vibe definitely changes once you arrive. This is easily the most un-calvert County part of Calvert County by a long shot. The food vendors and outdoor seating make this the perfect place to post up for a fun outing with friends, or A friend. I could come here every day just for the wine slushies and wood oven pizza. Between the food, wine, beer, music and atmosphere time flies here. Check on Facebook, or the website for events. I brought my wife.and her sister for mother's day and we had a great time. This place is definitely worth the trip.

DRIVE IN EXPERIENCE HOSTED BY THE VINEYARD So i did not come to the vineyard but attended a Saturday evening drive-in experience to see GHOSTBUSTERS. Apparently, the vineyard used to have drive-in movies at the actual vineyard but this time it was set up at the Calvert County Fairgrounds. It was $35 per car. There was Only ONE food truck vendor that had long lines, and the truck was geared towards Crab dishes (of which im allergic). But you are welcomed to bring in your own food/beverages (except alcohol). The host did provide a beverage table for sodas/wines/water for sale. There were a few outdoor port-a-potties to use and a hand washing station. There was NO PAPER TOWELS at the handwashing station smh The line of cars were directed by personnel. The local station was 89.9 to hear the movie through your car speakers, external radio or you could roll your windows down and still hear the movie. My friend and I ended up purchasing pizza and drinks before coming. If your car is farther back you can still see the movie very good. At first, large RAM trucks were infront of us and we were able to move the car back and could then see over them / the screen. Cute idea! Great date night idea. If it weren't so far away, I would return as the Vineyard hosts other drive-in movie nights.

We arrived and I was not sure where to go so we drove to the end of the road saw a house and walked through the vineyard. Once we walked in it looked like a room for an reception. There was a station to order flights , wine and wine slushie. They also have a Strawberry house Sangria. We did taste the Sangria and did not like it. We started with a wine flight with Jack Rabbit white and the red, rose and the dessert wine. My fiancé didn't like any of them so she tried the grape slushie and I ordered a bottle of Jack Rabbit white. Once our friends came they ordered 5 bottles and it was just the Jack Rabbit white and red. They also have tables to rent for events. And when it's nice outside they have tables open outside like I saw on all the TikTok's. Since it was a storm alert just the hall was avail. The chandler was plastic and the room was decor was out dated looking. Overall the vineyard looked nice but the decor was outdated. The wine wasn't good but did have us feeling good lol. The customer service was excellent. We love going to wineries but I can not see us driving 45 min again for this. Also they have food trucks we had Turkey and Brie and ended the night with chicken quesadillas both were very tasty.

Running Hare Vineyard is such a lovely and picturesque place to have a wine tasting, wedding, event, fun date, or just a day to get away from it all. Located in Frederick, Maryland, the views from Running Hare Vineyard are those from a scenic postcard. My party of 4 had a Groupon (check on Groupon for great deals) and it included a wine tasting, 4 stem glasses, and 2 bottles of wine. It was a really great bargain. Upon entry, we were given wrist bands to indicate that we were of legal age to drink alcohol. We then moved over to the Tuscan Events Building where the tastings are held. Out of the options listed on the sheet of paper you're given, you're allowed to select 5 wines each to taste. Your wine guide will walk you through each wine in depth and explain each to you. Since we had the Groupon, at the end of the tasting, we were able to select the 2 wines we enjoyed the most to either drink on the spot or to take home. After the tasting we moved to the ample seating supplied for the customers directly next to the Tuscan Events Building. Each table included an umbrella, which was perfect protection for the hot sun. I strongly suggest you pack your own food/picnic basket, but they do have food vendors onsite for your tummy. The day we were there, they had pizza, taco, and bbq vendors set-up. Additionally, they had an "adult" slushie stand. Don't walk, but run to get 1, 2 or 5 of these frozen gems! Yummers! You can also purchase wine while you dine at the picnic tables. Coolers, picnic baskets and other personal items are permitted onsite, but ABSOLUTELY NO OUTSIDE ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES ARE PERMITTED ON SITE. They will be confiscated. They're open seasonally (check the website) and I believe the hours are 12-6pm. Portable restrooms are located at the entrance and they have a few surprisingly cool outdoor sinks to wash your hands. Apparently children are welcomed, although I don't know why you would want to bring a child to a wine tasting, but whatever. (Side Eye) With a perfect location and a picturesque scenic view, why not try something new and different in your own back door. The wine is just the cherry on top, well technically it's the grape on top!

A hidden gem in Southern Maryland. Closest thing to the Toscana outside of Bella Italia. It's a winery and a brewery at the same time, located in the midst of a vineyard. The beer is tasty, there are food stands in case you need to mix that beer and wine with solids. :-) Seating is under the trees, which was perfect on a hot and humid July day yesterday, or in the pretty Biergarten. We will most certainly be back.

Plenty of outdoor seating.

Running Hare Vineyard is everything a winery should be, with some nice extras to spare. The start of every great establishment is an impeccable location, and Running Hare is no exception: nestled in Prince Frederick, it has plenty of space to grow grapes, entertain guests, and fit parking, all while keeping visitors engaged in an open-air setting. On this particular trip, we were celebrating Father's Day, and while there were not all that many people, the staff and food trucks were available and ready to help. After parking in one of the sizable lots (which was free), we walked up to the greeting table and the woman was helpful in getting us acquainted with the place and how to use the Groupon we purchased for the occasion ($34 for a tasting for two and a bottle of wine). While my parents went to enjoy the tasting, I staked out an outdoor table and enjoyed the scenery. The live music was pleasant as well, and they make sure to keep the radio playing for a bit of background for when no one is on stage. This being a winery, there are plenty of choices when it comes to beverages here, especially since they have offerings from a local brewery as well. You're welcome to bring your own food or check out the food trucks parked near the entrance as well, though we did the former on this occasion so I cannot speak to how good their fare is. My father and I enjoyed some of the beers (I had the Dirty Blonde [$6.50], he had the Senor Besos [$8]) and they were both excellent, though I was surprised that the Besos had a smaller pour despite costing more. The service at both the wine tasting and beer-side bar was excellent and pleasant. In my opinion, the nicest element of coming here isn't the wine, beer, or food, it's enjoying a beautiful day in an unrushed setting and getting to relax with family and/or friends. It's great that there is no cover charge to come here, and I am glad to support them with alcohol purchases. Definitely make a trip of your own here when the weather permits! Overall: 5.0 stars ------ Pros: - Beautiful area and very spacious. - Excellent selection of beverages to enjoy. - Great staff and customer service. - No charge to park or come in, only for the alcohol/food (you can bring in your own food but not your own alcohol). - Groupon makes this affordable place an even better deal. Cons: - Not a con by any means but since I did not try the food trucks, I do not know how good their offerings are. Try them out and let us know!

How much is a wine slushie? I saw an offer on Groupon but wanted to see if it made more sense to just purchase there.

Maryland wine has been hit or miss for me, so I entered without any expectations. So you'll understand how thrilled I was to learn that for despite being small-ish, the wines were above par. The wines are an eclectic mix of styles; partially because they recently purchased a neighboring vineyard/winery and inherited their stock. Now at 20 acres of vines they aren't so tiny anymore, and (as long as the old stocks last) they have an array of wines which should fit most palates. I enjoyed the steel & oak-blended Chardonnay, but my favorite were the red blends which used Italian varietals. One with 60% Sangiovese/30% Barbera/10% Petit Verdot was particularly good!
