Me and my toddler just moved to the area from New York. We like to try a new mini golf place each week. We saw runaway bay on Groupon with tons of pictures with waterfalls. The second we got there I realized all the water pumps were off and there were no active waterfalls. There were tons of holes in the wall and open fence areas where a toddler, nonetheless an adult, could fall over 50ft down a cliff. We were the only ones there and that should have been a red flag to begin with. Def won't be returning read more

I saw the lower reviews and thought oh well, let's just try it. Well, until the reviews improve DON'T GO!! The course was littered with leaves fallen from the trees, pinestraw and the carpet on several holes was damaged. It could be a great course and hopefully the owners will take time to make it that way again but today was pretty disappointing. read more

Course is in poor condition. Obviously the owner manager doesn't care about maintenance. One of the features is water that runs through the course and looks like it's been shut off for a long time. The putting surface could use some help, needs to be cleaned up, landscaping needs help too. The two courses in Garden City are much nicer. read more

Stopped in last night to play mini-golf here with my extended family (12 in all). We played as two groups of six. They over a variety of club sizes and ball colors to assist all players. It is cheaper to go before 6 as prices increase in the evening hours. They also have a unlimited play option during daytime hours. They also have ample parking but most people turn right into the smaller section of the parking lot. If you turn left, you will be greeted with ample parking. The course has two 18 hole courses to choose from. We played the mountain side. The course is your standard mini gold style course, not a lot of obstacles but the greens move fast and they sometimes have elevation changes to make it harder. Our groups moved through pretty quick with some expected slow downs due to size. I will note that depending on how busy it is, your group may have a hard time standing on the trail while waiting, esp. with active younger kids who can also lose balls in the water. On the last hole, the pin collects your ball so all you have to do is turn in your club and tally your score. Standard beach area fun. read more

This place has two 18-hole courses: one is called "Dunn's River Falls" and the other "Cockpit Country". We decided on the Dunn's River Falls course and most of us got our shots in either 2, 3 or 4 hits, so there were just a few that were challenging. There is not a lot of shade and so we were in the sun a lot - where there was shade is when we took our break from playing...just to rest from the heat. We still had fun overall and I like that they played some reggae music as we were putting. They also serve ice cream (scoops or swirl) and refreshing drinks in addition to Gatorade slushies, milk shakes and floats. It was nice to be able to enjoy some of that after our game. We will definitely try this place again and do the Cockpit Country course (of course on a much cooler day). There is a "Jamaica me Crazy" plane sitting right at the entrance of that course too. read more

Such a fun and friendly place! This is the best mini golf course I have ever been to. We were greeted and told what discounts they have: residents, veterans, over 65 and active military members all receive discounts. They also have ice cream and candy area which has a variety of flavors. The bathroom was immaculately clean. Every level player can enjoy playing. The course has gorgeous water features, water falls, bridges, and even a plane intertwined with the course. read more

The golf course was good. However, the lady in the ice cream shop was extremely rude. She was very impatient with customers. She looked like she hated her job and had an overall awful attitude. In a family friendly business I would simply not want her working for my establishment. read more

Runaway Bay - Mini Golf Near Me - Murrells Inlet, South Carolina

I like to partake in the mini golf while visiting Myrtle, and the past couple of times we've made our way over to Runaway Bay, which is the mini golf course located within the Tupelo Bay Golf Center. In an area where there are more mini golf courses than McDonalds and Wendys combined, this one has proven to be a solid pick. Like all the mini golf courses down here, a the price of a game is pretty steep. I'm pretty sure we paid $9 a person after dark, and it's $8 a person during the day. Despite the price, I'm a fan of the overall course. There are actually two different eighteen-hole courses to choose from, and having those two courses is a must to help control the traffic in such a popular area. We've done both and they have both been fun. If you want to grab a sweet treat to cool off after a game, there is an ice cream parlor on premises that serves Hershey's hard ice cream, though we never partook since that's not exactly my bag. Still, Runaway Bay has proven to be a clean course that is fun and handles crowds well. I recommend checking it out if you're looking for mini golf in the area. read more

At first the scenery looks quite cool but once you actually get on the course you realize it has been wasted. The actual putting greens were pretty lame. There is some pretty cool stuff like a waterfall and a plane, however none of it is actually incorporated into the golf. The ice cream is Hershey's and there isn't many flavors. There is only plain cones and no toppings. You are much better off driving for about 1 minute to Painters Homemade Ice Cream. It was sort of fun, but there are so many other places around that would be a lot better. read more

The staff was kind and respectful, but other than that, we would have no reason to return to this place. The course is outdated and the greens are very unsatisfactory condition wise as the majority of them are ripped and torn. No obstacles and each hole is about the same. Anytime we are in Myrtle Beach we have to partake in mini golf. It is fun and affordable with all the coupons they offer. On top of that you have some many options to choose from. We went during the day so it was around $6 for us to play but since we stayed at Tupelo Bay (the condo's are connected to the mini golf center) we got buy one, get one free tickets. This was a really cool course and definitely worth checking out. read more

We went at night which was a great time not too crowed and I cannot imagine being here during the day in the sunny humid weather in july. We are at Tupleo Bay for vacation for a second time. Tried to go to the mini golf course but its always extremely overcrowded. Attempted to get ice cream from the ice cream shop last night and was told that they ran out of most flavors and to come back the next day after they received their delivery. Came back this afternoon. There was a closed sign at the entrance of the mini golf course indicating to me and my family that the course was closed due the rain earlier. Understandable. The ice cream shop was open, my family and I walk in...since the door was open and there was a man in the store eating an ice cream cone. The man then immediately, rudely shoos us out of the store, pointing and talking about the closed at the entrance of the golf course. If the store was closed then this should be advertised by a closed sign on the door, a locked door or something more obvious! I'm sure the ice cream and mini golf course are probably good. But this review os for the piss poor customer service we received. We will definitely NOT spend our money here! read more

No one was at the front when we arrived so we had to wait until someone arrived. Just your typical mini golf place. We went with as a group of 10 so we split into two. There is not much to do late at night around the area, so mini golf was the place to be. We had fun, but the course wasn't too challenging. Lighting could have been better. We didn't have to wait long for the people in front of us, so that was a plus. read more

I can't really give a review of the course since we didn't get to golf. The hours of operation on Google said they closed at 10:00 p.m. on a Friday night. But actually, they allow the last person in to golf at 9:00 p.m. We arrived a few minutes after 9:00 p.m. so we could not enter. They should really list this fact on their website. read more

This is the perfect place for my 90 year old Nana. She doesn't like to move, and she hates mini golf. Every hole is the same. You'd think that with all the competition (there's like 20 thousand mini golf courses in Myrtle) they'd have some incentive to make it interesting. The one good thing I have to say is that they played 80s hits over the speakers the entire time, and there's no quiet place on the course. You can't escape the music, I love it. Theres nothing better than ub40 and Boy George massaging your eardrums while you play 18 holes of the exact same thing. If you're for some reason looking for free 80s radio, this is the place to be. The one good hole is basically just the plinko game from the price is right, and they actually have the audacity to charge you 4 extra dollars to play it. read more

This putt putt course looked nice... but let me tell you something, as soon as you are 2 holes in you realize that the obstacle to hole ratio is absolutely pathetic!! If I wanted to go and put on a flat surface with no obstacles then I would just go putt at a golf course!! Pathetic!! read more

This is a very nice mini golf course. It is next to a swamp, so you get to see a beautiful view while you are golfing. The missing star is for the heat. I know you can't control the weather, but there wasn't quite enough shade. I would suggest going on a day that is windy or cool. read more

I go out to play mini-golf here every year when we go to Surfside. 7/8/2015 -- The course is a wreck to play at night. The better course Dunn's River Falls is in decent shape, but has one hole with duck tape over a divot in the putting line. Both courses have areas where it got too dark to see the putter head and line up my shot. Cockpit Country is in really bad shape, multiple holes have duck tape coverings, bad divots in the fake grass, and lots of dark areas. They used to have flood lights, I don't know what happened to them. The music was sparse and seemed to be on a 10 song loop. Playing 2 rounds, I heard the same Bob Marley song about six times. This is the most extravagant mini course I've ever seen, it is almost always full of families waiting in line behind each other, they shouldn't be struggling and should be able to replace some mini-golf turf, put the lights back up, and get a satellite radio selection. The Jamaican theme is dismissible anyways. It doesn't really come to mind when playing until I see one of the signs that says "something something 'Mon!". read more
