I have never, ever had such a negative experience with any company. I sent Run Around my address and cross streets. We set up an appointment to meet on Wednesday at 7:30 pm. At 7:45, she still hadn't shown up, so I sent her a text asking where she was. She said she had lost track of time and would leave then. I told her we could just reschedule. We rescheduled to Monday at 7:30. At 6:30, she texted me to ask if we could move our meeting back to 8:30 instead. I agreed. At 8:40, I still hadn't heard from her, so I texted to ask if she was coming. She said she would be here by 9. At 9, I got a text (not even a phone call) saying that I was actually out of her range and she couldn't work with me. Let me repeat that I had sent the cross streets in my first email. I called, she didn't answer twice. I texted her to please show me the respect of calling me back. She did, said it just wouldn't work. Overall, this was thoroughly unprofessional (two late meetings, which I was never notified about, and then being cancelled on even though I had provided the coordinates in my very first email). I was left with two days to scramble to find a walker, which I needed by that Thursday. I would never, ever, ever use these people. I have had a horrific experience and they are entirely unprofessional and unapologetic about it. read more

RUN AROUND PET SERVICES! How I love thee... It's not easy to trust someone with your best friend but I am COMPLETELY comfortable with Jenny & Ryan (the walkers who most frequent my home) and always pleased with both their care of my dog and their communication with me. The crew at Run Around are some of the most friendly, reliable, flexible and hard working people I've ever known/had the pleasure of doing business with. I schedule 30-minute walks for my dog 5 days a week but have been treated to an occasional 60-minute walk or an entire afternoon in with Jenny when she was able to. I trust them so much that I hired Run Around to "board" my pup while I was on vacation instead of asking friends for help (and got some awesome pictures while I was away!). Some people just get it, and when it comes to animals and amazing customer service, Jenny certainly does. Jenny runs a professional, and more importantly kind and loving service. We are a young couple of color and Jenny always treated us, and our pup, with the utmost respect and care. Her employee, Christian, who walked Kai everyday, always did a great job. We received timely and informative texts after each walk, with individualized messages and updates on how kai's walk went. I would strongly recommend Jenny, and her dog walkers, to all dog owners looking for a trustworthy and attentive dog care service for their pup. While I noticed some people have bashed Jenny here, this was absolutely not our experience with her as we used her company for ~18 months before leaving NYC. Moving here from the 'burbs with a large backyard where I worked from home, it was important for me to find a great dog walker at a reasonable price. I found Run Around Pet Services online and was immediately impressed by my communication with Jamie. She was responsive to my many questions. It also didn't hurt that she, too, is located in Fort Greene. I met her before committing to her services and could see immediately that she truly loves dogs. On a couple days when guilt has overcome me for the changes I'm putting Roscoe through, she has responded to last minute text messages to take Roscoe for an hour long walk instead of the normal 30 minute walk (for a reasonable up charge). She texts me every day after the walk with an update. She has never walked Roscoe with more than one other dog at a time, often giving him solo walks. Roscoe was never truly leash trained and she's been working with him on that, as well as his tendency to bark at approaching dogs. She offers in-home boarding, also at a very reasonable price. What better place to leave your dog than in the home of someone who loves him? She has two other well behaved dogs which makes the situation all the more appealing, in my opinion. read more

There are two patron saints for pets in Brooklyn....St Francis of Assisi....and Run Around Pet Services. Jenny, Ryan, Lindsay and Jamie are wonderful human beings who understand how to take care of and communicate with animals. They have been walking my two senior Gordon Setters since I moved to Brooklyn In August 2011. I knew from the moment I met Jenny I was in good hands. The service that she and her staff have provided since our first meeting has been nothing short of outstanding. Run Around Pet Service is not just dog walking or pet boarding business. It's a full fledged customer service operation. I receive text messages daily letting me know when the dogs have been walked. I receive e-mails and newsletters keeping me up-to-date on their business operations. Run Around has amazing flexibility with last minute walks and special accommodations. In addition, Run Around was extremely compassionate and understanding when I lost my job and had to cut back on the walks. Run Around cares about the pets and the clients they work for. They eagerly establish "real" relationships with clients and aim to please them 110% every day. Perhaps the following two stories best illustrate why you should have complete and unwavering trust in Run Around Pet Services. Last fall, a smoke condition developed in my home from leaving wet linseed oil rags exposed. When Ryan arrived to walk the dogs at noon, he immediately called me, told me about the condition.....and made sure the dogs got to a neighbor's house so they would not be further exposed to the billowing smoke. Ryan not only saved our home but the lives of our dogs as well. On another occasion, I happened to come home early when Jenny was walking my 13 year old dog Eros. Eros is a "special needs" client. He has arthritis and cannot walk fast or far. She told me from day one it would not be a problem to care for him. My heart broke (and I almost shed a tear) when I saw Jenny pick up Eros and carry him down the front steps to get to the sidewalk (he weighs 65-70 lbs). She did it with a smile and compassion. She has never once told me that Eros is a "challenge" or ever complained to me that he is a burden to walk. I am forever grateful for the tender loving care she and the Run Around Staff give to both of my dogs every single day. Run Around Pet Services is quite simply the best pet service around. Jenny Maurer is the worst dog walking business owner STAY AWAY!!!! I had to call POLICE to get my keys back because she quit without mutual agreement, and didn't return them immediately. That was the worst nightmare. Employees just have to do whatever she tells them to do so they are HORRIBLE, and they are not experienced enough to handle all kinds of dogs. They show up late, break things in house, can't do math so you'll get charged twice, also they don't walk dogs 30 min all the time. I tell you my experience so you can avoid bad dog walkers like Jenny Maurer. After First email, she emailed me back 2-3 days later( too late), set up an app for meet & greet, she cancels and reschedules because her family is visiting her( family is first, yea right) The meet and greet was really short (less than 10 min), only Jenny showed up and told me either she or the other dog walker will walk my dog. I told her my dog is not "a happy go lucky dog" and needs time to warm up with new ppl and she understood the situation. She also told me it's fine to pay her in check. I called her to give her my keys- no answer- left a VM- never heard from her. A few months later, I needed to get a dog walker seriously because of my work schedule. I emailed her to see if she's still in business, she replied to me a few weeks later. By this time, I wasn't sure this was the right choice but she was the cheapest I could find in my neighborhood ( bad mistake!!) so I went to her house to drop off my keys, The service started. They have two complicated payment methods. #1 punch card; you can buy 10 walks and get one free for $150 dog walker checks a box , puts the date and signs. ( if you have a substitute dog walker they always mess up and can not do math, you might get charged double) #2 weekly payment 30 min / day 5 days a week for $65 I chose to use both and I paid in check. But she always tried to find a way to charge me more and that irritated me. The first dog walker was Lindsay. She couldn't handle my dog well and my dog hated her. She showed up late 4 times and the last one, she didn't even text me back or called me to let me know she was running late. I told Jenny to change the dog walker, she apologized and offered me one free walk. Second dog walker was Christian. He actually handle my dog much better than Lindsay and my dog liked him. He stepped on a food plate and broke it, but never mentioned it though. One time, he didn't walk my dog 30 min fully and came home early( I always check the camera and that was about 20 min) and another day he came back within 8 min because it was raining. I didn't think that was enough at all. After that Christian took a check and the unfinished punch card and charged me twice. I was so upset and called Jenny, for the first time she told me she doesn't like to receive checks, it's fair to walk my dog 10 min on a rainy day. she backfired me and suddenly quit. said "I'm not gonna walk your dog tomorrow" , "I don't do anything wrong your dog is just mean" even though I told her I have work and She can't do such an irresponsible thing to me as a professional dog walker. I thought that was a joke but she literally didn't sent a dog walker to my house. She does her best to fuck you up and makes up "fucked up POLICIES " that totally don't make sense. And sent me a fake email says she needed to terminate the service due to "outlined procedure" she told me I signed a "contract" which doesn't exist. SHE LIES A LOT and make up things. she is a full of shit. I had to call police to get the keys back because of safety reasons. Two police officers came to my house and offered to help me. I knew where she lives but I didn't know her apt number. They told me to call her and other dog walkers to figure it out so they can go to her house and pick up keys for me but no answer. They also advised me to file a claim at BBB and write a review on Yelp. She told me not returning keys is not a big deal and told me to "FUCKING make a copy" didn't even pay for the copies of keys and said she doesn't have to because she paid for shipping keys back to my house (FULL OF SHIT) even though I told her not to ship them and return the keys in person immediately. It took her at least 3 weeks to return the keys and didn't tell me tracking number until 2 weeks later I had to go to Fedex ship center which is far away & that was a 2 hour round trip. She is a total bitch she did something she shouldn't do to her client and still thinks she didn't do anything wrong. Now I'm happy with my new dog walker who's more responsible and handles my dog better for cheaper price. That's actually the best thing out of this. Conclusion, she should not do dog walking business anymore. I wish there was regulations, licensing or fine. So we can avoid bad dog walkers like her. Jenny does whatever she wants and we just become victims. We shouldn't let it happen anymore. read more

I used Run Around Pets for 2 years. They worked around my crazy work schedule and had a good attitude. If a mistake was made (which was rare), Jenny offered a free walk (which was great). My dog loves Lindsay and Christian! They also texted me information about her walks everyday, which I loved! The only reason we stopped using the service is because we are moving out of state.
