My relatives brought us here for the evening and it is a great place! Located on the east side of…read morethe city, plenty of parking...even a nice, bright parkade. Very easy to find as it's on a major street. The decor/theme is beautiful, the ceiling is like a quiet, warm summer day with a few clouds with trees all around. Relaxing and beautiful to look at. A few food choices inside, a McDonald's! But I only noticed it because of the free wifi that came up on my phone. And a hot dog and ice cream kiosk! How wonderful to be able to enjoy an ice cream and take a break from gambling!! There's a sit down restaurant and I noticed a line to get a table at 6:30. The Event Centre is right at the casino entrance. Many concerts lined up for the upcoming months. Not sure how big it is inside though. The only thing I didn't really like is that the blackjack players don't play with the odds and basically hit or not whenever they feel like even when the dealer explains the "bust" card. Overall a fun place to spend time.

Worst Casino ever. They moved the top slots to face brick walls with no view of…read more the casino other than the machines. You sit with your back facing who knows who?? You can't even see the big screen TV without leaving your machine. I went to watch hockey and football and play slots, but you can't do that. They used to have the machines in great positioning after Covid where you could see all areas while playing and now they moved them to create more addicts. This sort of environment is a trap to simply create addicts that are FORCED to stare at the machine. Meanwhile, you go up the skywalk and see a big sign that says you should know when to stop playing?? They force people to stare at the machines and a brick wall. There is more to the casino than the machines and they should be implementing that. The so-called help centre for gamblers to seek help is never staffed with help and is used for staff breaks only??? Also, they Cherry Pick customers who spend a fortune and give them rewards for spending more?? They are rude when doing so also, making the gamblers beside them spending only $50 feel inadequate. I asked 1 time why I couldn't get the free towel they were giving away to the person beside me and was told I don't spend as much and DON'T MATTER. The McDonald's has the worst service, dirty, unfriendly, and understaffed at all times. The small ice-cream parlour is NEVER OPEN. There isn't a place to simply get a quick bite to eat without going into the restauarant which is always understaffed as well. The restaurant in the lobby is ALWAYS DARK. The only good thing about the Casino is the gift shop, and the parking. When you voice your concerns, no one cares and nothing ever changes. The level of crime these days is frightening and when leaving late at night the security say they are always monitoring the parkade. I've never once seen a WALKING SECURITY GUARD in the skywalk, or around the parkade. This is a lie. They drive around, but no one ever walks around.

It also has performances at affordable prices. I was reminiscing about Portage Place. This mall in downtown Winnipeg isn't doing well for a number of reasons, including losing Eaton's and The Bay, which were fixtures. However, I was thrilled to hear that Prairie Theatre Exchange (PTE) is still alive and kicking on the third floor of this mall. When I first moved to Winnipeg, I took in a couple of performance at this theatre. Performer were talented, local folks. Tickets were affordable. It was a nice introduction to the arts in the city. I remember my friend being in an improvisation class at PTE. A woman, who graduated Glendon College, York University when I did, had also moved to Winnipeg and was in his class. What were the odds?! This class had a performance night. I worked at Air Canada Building across the street. I was working either the afternoon or evening shift. I asked if I could take my lunch roughly when his performance was about to start. My team in network operations were super accommodating. I didn't think that it would last long, but could be contacted by cell phone in case there were network issues. Staff were friendly. I sat in the audience and saw my friend do improv with his class. He was great and I had a fun time. I was here for maybe an hour. I was proud of my friend and his class. It took guts to do improv in front of an audience. The theatre doesn't do performances in the summer, which is why I never got to take in a show when I was on vacation in Winnipeg last July. My brief visit to the city in late December wasn't enough to do much, either. I hope that I can take in a show again soon when I revisit the city for a longer period. This theatre has student pricing, which is great. Regular admission doesn't break the bank. You can get a decent seat within the first five rows in front of the stage for under $50 these days. Portage Place has underground parking. It's heated in the wintertime because, well, it's Winnipeg. I don't think that I have ever parked at this mall. I either took the bus downtown or parked in an outdoor parking lot for work behind the Air Canada Building. I'm happy that PTE is still there. I look forward to returning to take in a show one of these days. (129)
