I am writing to express my profound disappointment and anger regarding the results of the Facial Feminization Surgery (FFS) you performed on me, particularly the rhinoplasty, which left me with a deviated septum. My intention here is not to soften my words but to convey the depth of my dissatisfaction. Your FFS work on me, specifically the rhinoplasty, was nothing short of disastrous. Not only did it fail to achieve the desired aesthetic, but it also resulted in a deviated septum, which has caused significant discomfort and inconvenience. This additional physical issue only compounds the frustration I feel towards your lackluster work. I must candidly admit that I was, at one point, your biggest cheerleader. Despite the warnings and advice from friends and support groups cautioning me against choosing you for FFS, I foolishly chose to disregard their counsel. I based my decision on my previous experiences with your surgeries and held on to the hope that this time would be different. Regrettably, I was mistaken. My faith in your abilities proved to be misplaced, and I deeply regret not heeding the warnings of those who had my best interests at heart. Your work has had a profound negative impact on my life, and I believe it's important to acknowledge the consequences of these decisions. I urge you to reflect on the implications of your surgical practices on patients like myself who place their trust in you. It is crucial to heed the voices of caution and make the necessary improvements in your approach and technique. After living with a botched hairline lowering scar for 2 years I finally found a Dr that is competent and was able to fix Kathy's horrendous mistakes. This new Dr was able to fix and give me the results I was so desperately wanting. Lastly Jenn Palladino the surgical coordinator did a terrible job communicating with me whether it be by phone or email. At times it would take days sometime weeks for her to get back to me-unprofessional and added to the terrible experience. Do not go to this doctor for ANY procedures. You are warned. It's tempting to choose Rumer because she's in network but take my advice. DONT! FIND SOMEONE ELSE. Be patient....They will also reply to this and say they don't recognize me as a patient. Proof of the nasty attitude they have. Disregard the comment they will probably leave saying they don't recognize me as a patient. I will start off with I was prepared for my consultation with Dr. Rumer. She seemed nice and told me that I needed certain things and to make sure to follow her post op instructions to the T. But the real problem happened after the fact. I was supposed to get a phone call from my patient coordinator Amanda Hoffman. But, instead I get an email explaining my one psychologist letter was not good. This is the funny part. I was supposed to send her another letter from a different psychologist and send it to Katherine Patti....funny thing is the letter I had originally was from Katherine Patti! I have been calling the office for about 5 days now and leaving voicemails without any calls back. The $100 consultation fee needs to stay in your pocket. You can get better results by going to NYU Langone in New York or giving a call the Cleveland Clinic. They were nice and gave me the information that i needed. Btw, read other reviews because you will find out since 2016 she 4 malpractice suits and tons of very bad reviews. The negative reviews cannot be more real. Ask to see one photo, anything that shows her work. Read her website about the Belly Skin removal to fix bottom surgery's. NOT TO BE SEEN. She's a hack that is afraid to have her work pier reviewed. Trying to get clarification from her and her staff on this procedure was impossible. Finally I literally had to use a different phone number to get them to answer the phone. Amazing, when they think its a new victim the phone is picked up fast. This is a scam surgical facility and doctor. Ask her what a woman's labia minor and major looks like. She says a big hole shaped more like a starfish. She's never actually looked at another real woman. Scary surgeon. Thank God they didn't like questions being asked, or if there is any pictures of ANY PROCEDURES SHES DOES. Most important was FFS. This is very special and a surgeon cannot just pick up a scalpel and start cutting your skull. But she says she does and show neither photos, or credentials. Sure. I had my FTM peri-aeriolar top surgery on March 31st, 2018 at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA by Dr. Kathy Rumer. I made the appointment by phone probably a month earlier, and I had my month post-op check-up yesterday and my results look fantastic. TLDR AT THE BOTTOM! Dr. Rumer's office is situated in beautiful and green Ardmore, PA. I drove from NJ - two hours each way to her office each time because I was dead set on my decision. I had done plenty of research, based on a "dream" that one day I would be able to afford to have my chest look like her before and after photos. Maybe four or five years later, I took a chance on that dream. I decided to take a risk on my gut to see if Dr. Rumer was compatible with my insurance - the worst thing they could say was no, right? Turns out that she was tier 2 with my insurance, which was Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey - surprising for a PA surgeon, yeah? But I sure wasn't complaining, they paid half of the surgery cost. Something that really spoke to me about Dr. Rumer is how involved in the transgender community she is. COUNTLESS people - both FTM and MTF - have their consultations/check-ups, etc done right here at this office. She also regularly presents at the Philly Trans Health Conference and does around 150 top surgeries a year, she's a member of WPATH, she was *****AN AEROSPACE ENGINEER FOR OVER A DECADE***** LIKE NO BIG DEAL OKAY so basically this lady is no joke. I wanted someone experienced, so she definitely had that box checked for me. Her office can hold your hand the whole way through if you need it (I know I did, as I was doing this on my own) - the packet you get as an e-mail attachment before your pre-op appointment will be your Holy Scripture that will get you through any trouble you're having. It breaks down everything you need to do at certain stages before your surgery and puts it super simply - your full medication restrictions, addresses and phone numbers of associated facilities, important dates, FAQs, step by step like a checklist. I took a marker and marked everything off one by one so I wouldn't miss anything. Upon entering the adorably PA building, you're greeted with a beautiful, clean, air conditioned, chic waiting room with marble, stainless steel, and black leather accents. Small and quaint with lots of gorgeous windows, a large plasma screen TV, and a rack of current and relevant magazines. Dawn will probably be there to greet you, and Dawn is an absolute sweetheart. She is your best friend and guide to the office - she will be speaking on the phone with you, e-mailing and keeping in contact with you and she knows a lot, so ask any questions you have, all you have to do is call. If she doesn't have the answer, she will find it for you. I ended up needing to return to the office a number of times for check-ins due to an issue I had while I was healing, so Dawn and the rest of the staff saw quite a lot of me. The amount of care and compassion that I received from not only Dr. Rumer, but her whole staff have been nothing short of absolutely amazing. 5/5 would recommend. Solving the issue that I had was not at all fun, but Dr. Rumer and her nurse's aides were very professional and assuring. I trust the aerospace engineer. Getting this surgery done can be scary, especially if you've never had a major surgery before - so it's really nice to know that I had access to such a fantastic and knowledgeable support system from the beginning all the way to the end of my journey. TLDR:: Experienced, caring, professional, clean office, amazing staff, involved in the community, insurance-taking, crazy cute Philly accent, aerospace engineer Dr. Rumer could not come any higher recommended by me. Her entire practice is kind and so supportive of transgender people. Most important is I knew I was in good hands for the surgery. I just had a different team of doctors fix my complications that were ignored for 2+ years imo. I had a failed bottom surgery here. Kathy told me I needed a skin graft from my belly fat to fix my complications, and it would look like a C-section scar. That never happened... scheduling was too hard and too much time kept on passing and passing while my complications got worse and worse. My new, better surgeons fixed me up without adding any new scars. No skin graft needed either. Amazing. Unprofessional and rude from the beginning. I gave this office a 2nd chance a year later and it only got worse. I'm not even sure where to start here. I made my 1st appointment after realizing my health insurance covered the surgery. I have great insurance that covers just about everything of course there will be a co-pay but that is billed to me after the fact. They made me leave a $1000 deposit when I scheduled the surgery. I questioned why this was needed especially knowing that my HMO covered the surgery. The person said it was standard and used to cover any remaining medical costs after. (What costs?? My insurance covers this). When I told her this was confusing she said most likely I would get it back. I made a joke can i use it for facial fillers? She giggled and said yes. I had to then reschedule the surgery date and she made it quite clear that the $1000 would not be refunded and when (if) i was able to schedule another surgery date I would need to pay it again. This made no sense to me at all. So I then called my insurance company. This was after trying to dispute the fee through my credit card. Rumors office actually fought it and won. So now I was out $1000 dollars and no other surgeon in Pa covers the surgery. Kathy Rumors associates were stern in saying that this was a standard protocol even for patients with insurance. I ended up calling the insurance company and asked them. They were confused as well and were pretty clear that no down payment should have been given. I'm sure they investigated it through the office. A year later I called back. I wasn't convinced that this was the doctors fault. It just didnt make sense. I spoke to the person in the office who manages patients with insurance. She was new to the office since my last visit a year prior. She was shocked about the $1000 and was quite clear and sure that this never should have happened. She said it was an office mistake and we could schedule the surgery on the phone right then and there. I wasnt comfortable with that. I wanted to have another face to face with the doctor to discuss the surgery and make sure any and all concerns for recovery were addressed. So I went into the doctors office. Excited to schedule the surgery and also excited to have a $1000 credit. (I was ready for some facial injections lol...my favorite refresh!) The doctor walked into the little room I was sitting in and said exactly this "because of the interaction you had with this office last year I am uncomfortable to do your surgery" she then simply turned around and with her back to me she yelled "and you can have your $40 back" as if I was some peasant crawling in asking for something. It was clear she didnt even know about the dollar amount they took but was obviously upset about something. So what was it? The fact that I called the insurance company when they messed up? This treatment was completely unnecessary and unwarranted. I was clearly mislead and stolen from. Look I did get the $1000 back but this kind of surgery isn't about losing a 1000 bucks. I am a transgender FTM person. I had been considering where to go for top surgery for a long time. I live in Pennsylvania, but I was willing to go where I saw great results. Needless to say, my results are even better than I could have hoped and with practically no bruising, which I didn't even know was possible with this surgery! Even with my surgery during the year of COVID 19, everything went great! Dr. Rumer listened to my concerns about scarring and my results show that well. I had top surgery and liposuction (known on her website as "mansculpting" with Dr. Rumer on September 12. My first consult was in January. I hadn't meet with any other surgeons yet but I immediately knew I wanted to have surgery with Dr. Rumer after our consult. She was blunt and to the point about what my surgery would be like. Others have called her no-nonsense; I completely agree. She's not there to hold your hand, but she knows what she's doing-- personally I appreciated this a lot. She took a quick look at my body to know what type of surgery I would have, and gave me and my partner, who came with me, a chance to ask questions. Everyone in the office was incredibly friendly and helpful, especially Dawn, who sits at the front desk. I was concerned since I identify as non-binary and use feminine or gender neutral pronouns (not super typical for this procedure) yet everyone there assured me I wasn't the first to identify this way. They're very good at making you feel normal in what I have found to be a scary place for GNC people (medicine). Dawn made scheduling surgery super easy-- when insurance approved, she contacted me and we set a date. I had a pre-op appointment to take photos of my body and discuss recovery, and was given protocol (taking arnica, what to eat and what not to eat, what to do day of surgery, etc.). I did have to pay out of pocket for liposuction directly to Rumer Cosmetics, and still had many not covered charges from the hospital, so it ended up being fairly expensive, but nothing crazy compared to other stories I've heard from people having surgery with my insurance (all in I paid about 6500, not counting time off from work and accommodations, but I believe it will turn out to be more like 5000 after some more claims go through my insurance). The day I was originally supposed to have surgery, I got a call-- there was an emergency and Dr. Rumer could not operate that day. I am from New York and was in an Airbnb, so this was a huge issue for me. Dawn kept me up to date at every turn as she tried to remedy this. My surgery ended up being moved to a week later, and Dawn got me and my partner put up for a full eight days in the recovery suite upstairs from their office, free of charge (since I'd spent the money on the Airbnb and taken off work the week before). While it was a huge letdown to have surgery moved at the time, once I was post-op I was so thankful for the proximity to Dawn and everyone in the office. I had lots of little worries about swelling and discomfort and all I had to do was walk downstairs and I could be seen by someone. Even with the hiccups along the way to surgery I have to say it worked out better for me and my partner in the end, and I am so thankful to Dawn and Dr. Rumer and everyone at Rumer Cosmetics for doing everything they could to make things easy for me. Dr. Rumer has an associate, Dr. Brandt, who seems to be a fellow of transgender surgeries, who is SUPER responsive via email and always available to answer questions. She has made this process all the better. And most importantly, I am in love with the results of my surgery. I still have a few weeks of wearing a compression garment where I had liposuction and an ace bandage on my chest, and I've been told my final results won't be visible until six months post op, but I already am healing quickly, and feel so great in my body. Went for a consultation today and am so glad that I never went for surgery. The staff were terribly rude and I can't imagine going through with a surgery here. There are bad reviews for this place for a reason. You can tell this place would not provide good results. I had top surgery with Dr Rumer on October 30th 2019. I first inquired around July of 2018 which I'd say is a pretty fair wait time considering my financial stands. During that time I spoke with multiple people from the office that were all super helpful with the process. Jen Palladino was my coordinator and after awhile with talking to others around the office she was the one I contacted with any questions concerns or issues. She stayed on top of the process and communicated very well what I needed so I'm grateful for that. Dr rumer was fantastic, professional and kind. Dr. Rumer was incredible! She was patient while I asked all of my questions, explained everything clearly, and was kind during my appointments. I had double incision top surgery with her and could not be happier with my chest! I chose her because I like that she she makes the incisions go in a natural line under the pec muscle instead of a straight line or a U shape, her incision lines are thin, she doesn't make the incisions connect in the middle, she makes the nipples a size I like, and she lets you have a say in where you want the nipples. Her staff was fantastic! I spoke with Kami, Jen, and Dawn. They were so sweet throughout the whole process from scheduling to recovery. GRS with Dr. Rumer, 3 weeks post-op Hi everyone! After a lifetime of hoping, waiting, a lot of back & forth I finally had my MTF GRS done this past October. Oh, and for good measure I only had B/A surgery at the same time. Having both surgeries done at the same time saved me a nice chunk of money. The surgeon I chose for all this is Dr. Rumer, and so far, I am very happy with my decision. Before deciding on a surgeon, I set up multiple appointments for consultations, but after meeting with Dr. Rumer I cancelled the other appointments and chose her. Sure, she is not the chattiest of doctors. But I was not looking for someone to tell my life's story to; I already went through that with the shrinks & therapists in the past. I wanted a skilled surgeon, not a BFF. Dr. Rumer was very professional and straight forward. She explained her procedures, the possibilities, limitations and likely outcomes. She showed my wife and I photographs of her work, and showed and explained things to us that went well beyond the scope of the consultation. In short, I was very happy with what I had seem and confident things would go smooth. In the weeks and months leading up to the date of surgery Teri Rumer was my patient coordinator, and I could not have asked for a better one. I came up with new questions and worries a lot, and Teri answered them all for me, almost always within a couple of short hours. (I prefer emails to phone calls, but on the occasions when I did call Teri answered the phone right away). Or she passed them on to Dr. Rumer, who called me back no later than the next day to answer my questions. Teri not only dealt with my medical insurance for me (United Healthcare, which the office accepted), she also made sure all the necessary documentation for my short-term disability insurance was taken care of. This ensured I could easily transition from working to disability status without missing a beat. The last thing you want to do is worry about how to pay your mortgage when you are going through recovery. I am 3 weeks post-op now, and the recovery seems to be going well. Currently my only job is to sit at home, relax, and follow Doctor's orders: Keep it clean, relax, and dilate. It is all very boring, and dilating is not fun at this stage. Not even a little! I am told it will be different down the road, but that's still a little ways away. As for the functional and aesthetic results of both, the B/A & the GRS surgeries, after three weeks all I can say is that it's slowly healing. I had the Vaniquish procedure done. Big Mistake! It's a 4-6 time procedure. First time - fine. Second time I received 3 degree burns & blisters & contracted MRSA!. It's been 10 weeks since then & I am still dealing with infections & will have permanent scars on my stomach. This week was the first time I could wear regular slacks because of the pain produced from the injury! Save your money ($600/session). I strongly urge anyone looking to get top surgery to find another doctor. Dr. Rumer almost gave my partner the wrong kind of surgery but luckily he spotted the error on the forms right before the operation. The pre op appointments were hasty, rushed, and sloppy, and she dismissed all of his questions. Then, her staff brushed him off when he told them he suspected an infection in his incision site, which has led to permanent loss of sensation on one side. She is a sloppy, careless surgeon and should not be trusted with this lifelong decision! read more

The office staff are phenomenal, they are very welcoming when you are there and extremely helpful. They return calls promptly. My surgery coordinator is Amanda Hoffman and she has been amazing, everyone will also jump in to help they truly are like one big family there. Dr. Rumer, Dr. Hannah, and Margie are the best surgical team you can have! They care about you and your outcome! Their bedside manor is always pleasant and informative. I had some issues arise due to my fault. And they reassured me they would get me through it and are. I had to call after hours and my call was returned quickly and with compassion for my concern. I had chosen Dr.Rumer to be the surgeon that I use for a very important, life changing surgery that I will be getting in a few months. The consultation went well, but trying to get a hold of anyone on her staff has proven almost impossible! I'm honestly am considering other options! I have called every single day at least 6 times or more and use all call extension numbers and have reached no one! This is going on for 3 weeks! Finally on Friday, September 14, 2018, I spoke to a woman named Dawn Wegnar, and while she tried to be helpful she did seem very rushed and not the most organized. When I asked her about a question on a letter I needed and whether she got it, she couldn't give me the answer!? Please understand, if you are going to go to Dr.Rumer, if you have questions or concerns you may not get them answered in a timely manner or at all! I find it funny and ironic that one of the best board certified surgeons for the type of procedure that I'm getting, cannot figure out how to get a good team of nurses and administration to help her run her business. It's honestly ridiculous and she should be absolutely embarrassed! There is no reason why someone is good as she said to be doesn't have a good team behind her! I had a wonderful experience with this doc and her staff. I had trach shave and SRS. I really like the hospital too, the staff was so welcoming. I stayed at the recovery center they offer and I felt so much better after surgery knowing that the staff could check on me and be there all day. I didn't have an issues but it wonderful to know they were just a flight of stairs away. highly recommend this doc. xo read more
