We had made our reservation more than three weeks in advance, so I was expecting a smooth experience. Unfortunately, when we arrived at our scheduled time, we were told they were very full and would need to wait about 20 minutes. Not exactly what I had in mind when making a reservation weeks ahead. Once we were finally seated, things went downhill a bit. Our table was way in the back, right next to what I'll call the restaurant's "penalty box." Staff were constantly rushing back and forth to drop off orders, conversations were loud, and we were right next to a garbage can and a cart filled with bins of dirty dishes. Definitely not the ambiance I was hoping for. And then there was the flatware. It was placed directly on the tabletop, rather than on a napkin or proper place setting. With so many people dining at these tables, that was a definite no-no for me. We started with a glass of Chianti, which I found quite pricey considering the quality. For the food, we ordered the Focaccia della Casa and Polpettine (meatballs) to start. For my entrée, I went with the Pasta della Nonna and THIS was the star of the show! Absolutely delicious and easily my favorite part of the meal. Unfortunately, the pasta couldn't completely save the overall experience. Between the wait despite having a reservation, the unfortunate table location, constant staff traffic, and some questionable table-setting details, the experience simply didn't live up to what I expected. My friend got the slushy premade margarita and she mentioned it was hard to drink. Tasty but the icee made it hard to drink. We sat on the dock side and heard and saw a back/side view of the band playing from across the way. We had a great view of the volcanos erupting from the restaurant across the way. It was great weather making it a great night for margaritas on the dock. The price came out around $20 per drink. I took a star off because the bartender wasn't friendly. When asked what's the most popular margaritas her answer was "they are all good" she seemed upset because we didn't know what wanted and had questions.
