Very exspensive. The food is average. Portions are small. Service is below average. I took my wife here thinking it would be something special but it was far from special. My wife got the steak, $28, bland and dry. I got the lasagna. It tasted watery. I'm sure it was frozen and then microwaved when served. We won't be back. read more

Dinner for for five on Sunday after the movies: three lasagna, one fettuccine alfredo, one shrimp scampi. Bread was plentiful with a variety of dips. Salad was acceptable. Lasagna was bitter, presumably from way too much oregano. Fettuccine flavorless. Decor was old, tired, and sad. The worst part was the service. Waitress was painfully, neglectfully slow. There appeared to be at least three servers with an average of 2.5 tables per person. (Yes, I peered around the restaurant counting tables.) And attention was absolutely non-existent after she dropped off the bill. Want a refill on water, tea, bread, or anything else? You have to ask for it. But it was hard to ask for refills when the waitress was no where to be found. Initially the music volume was fine - but it was weird hearing pop music in an Italian restaurant. I digress. Then the music was cranked up. I asked a bus girl to tune the music down so we could talk. Instead the music was turned off. Okay. What happened to the beloved restaurant from years ago? Just pulled out of the parking lot, and never going back. After a five minute wait for a hostess we were seated in an almost empty restaurant. After waiting five minutes for a server to greet us and take our drink order, five more minutes go by and were informed we were waiting for them to "make" the lemonade. Our drinks arrive and two Cokes are dropped on top of my fiance and i- we are instantly soaked. Pants and shirts. They move us to another booth, and it goes ok for the rest of our meal-our new server (not the one who spilled the drinks on us) was very nice. We get our bill, and it's the full amount. I ask for a manager. She says," oh, I can discount something" after I explain were both sticky and wet still and think we should have at least been offered a complimentary dessert or ten percent or something. She brings the bill back and she's taken six dollars off- of the cheapest meal, and it wasn't either of our two lasagna dishes who the drinks were spilled on. The manager acted clueless to our troubles, so I simply overpaid for the horrible service and missing courtesy and left. I'll never go back. The food was decent but not worth the 14$ a plate of lasagna and lap full of soda. read more

We hosted a surprise party here with over 40 people at the last minute. The manager Stacy and the staff were awesome and took care of every detail with ease. All we had to do was show up! The food was delicious. We will be back for sure! read more

What has happened to their take out service?? Last 2 times they have forgotten my salad and pizza was soggy on bottom.. that's a first. NO offer of anything for their mess up. Now went for lunch. Staff is rushing around and tHey aren't really busy. Hostess also waiting tables. Someone had gotten sick in the bathroom so I went and told waitress and she seemed less than interested. Arguably, the best pizza outside of chicago. The pizza is thin crust. I asked and for this audience, they cook the pizza at 475 degrees and cooks for 12 minutes. It comes out perfectly crisp with the cheese nicely browned. read more

Let's start with if a restaurant has moved several times that should be your first clue to stay away. If all good they would stay put as customers would be flocking to them. This is my second visit. On my first visit down the road we waited forty five minutes for a salad and stromboli in a restaurant with less than 12 customers not 12 tables. 12 people total. My stromboli was so hard I had to use a steak knife to cut through it. Sounded like hitting the table in was so burnt and hard. Second visit was for an open house of a friend down at the current location. Buffet style. Mostaccoili was over cooked and had a ton of cheese trying to cover the fact it was OK tasting. The bread was sliced bread brushed with garlic butter. The sandwich had hard bread. But the salad was okay. read more

Went here for dinner over the weekend and it was definitely not great. Walking in you can see the decor is pretty old school 'Italian restaurant in the 90s' themed - it wasn't very appealing and definitely didn't look modern or nice. When you sit down, you receive a basket of bread and there's oil and herbs on the table - this was probably the best part of the meal. I knew right away there may be some struggle since the menu is about 8 pages long - way too many items to focus on the quality of any individual thing. There were very, very minimal vegetarian options and almost no, if any, vegan options (my mom and I both typically eat vegan so this was disappointing right off the bat). We started with salads and I got the house Italian dressing. Salad was pretty plain, iceberg, few tomatoes, and cucumber slices. The dressing was weirdly citrus-y and not very flavorful, almost tasted like oranges. I ordered the four-cheese spinach tortellini with marinara and added mushrooms. My mom had the spinach lasagna and my dad ordered the perch. My tortellini was extremely bland and not good. The Buitoni's tortellini at the grocery store is better and about half the cost. It had minimal filling and almost no taste, definitely not anything cheesy tasting. The sauce was okay. Again, pretty boring but they did use a lot of mushrooms which helped. I probably ate an 1/8 of the huge portion they served. I tried some of my mom's spinach lasagna and it was actually pretty good - it was nice bright spinach on the inside, and the cheese was very thick and bubbly on the top. A bit oily, but overall a better dish. I didn't try the perch but my dad reported it was not good at all. Overall...this was not great. I definitely wouldn't go back again. read more

a 15 minute wait time turned into 40 mins. Almost got our table taken by someone who had been waiting only 5 minutes. When we called the hostess out on why we are not being seated she said, oh sorry I did not see your name because it was at the top of my list. WHAT? We sat down and waited another 15 minutes before our order was taken and another 40 minutes before we were served. Food was ok at best. It was much better when the previous owners ran the business. I still tipped 20% because it was not the waiters fault. Needless to say never going back. read more

This restaurant used to be good, however, since they moved to Corunna road, the quality of their help and food has matched the quality of the building. The bar area at Vics is an after thought with very poor service. If you do finally get service, the bar tender is mean and rude. The food has been cold the last several times I tried it. The management staff seems to be riding on their past reputation or maybe getting too old to care. Unfortunately, I will have to consider Ruggero's a "used to be" and move on to better options. read more

Went here on 10/8/2014 and ordered a medium pizza. Understood that it takes 20 minutes for a pizza. 1 hour later and 2 questions to our server our pizza came. The only explanation given was that a large take out order came in ahead of ours. Not sure why that would impact my order ? When the bill came no apology for the wait or nothing offered for our time spent there. Plus the pizza was just OK. I get better from delivery places. read more

Quite disappointed in our last visit. We received our menus and I noticed that the children's menu had two different sets of prices. I asked them to honor the lower price, as is the correct thing to do. Server refused, sent the mgr who gave me some story about it being the printer's mistake and also refused. Later in our meal the server offered me the child's ice cream for my two kids. I asked about the brand as my daughter has a peanut allergy. She said the name and I said that we would pass on the ice cream and did they have other options? She informed me that it comes with ice cream and that is all. I left upset with the experience, to not honor a printed price and to offer no other options to a child who cannot eat the offered item? An old favorite of mine. Been coming here since they were on Chevrolet in Flint when I was a kid! Lasagna, pizza, baked ravioli all amazing. Family owned. I haven't had Italian as good as here or Italian gardens since we've moved. Flint definitely has the best Italian restaurants. CA and TX are horrible when it comes to Italian food. Very dissatisfied with my experience. Waitstaff were nice, by the food was clearly from Gorden Food Service. I ordered the tortellini in broccoli sauce and was disappointed. The tortellini had a smoked flavor which clashed with the sauce. One redeeming factor.. they had a good pour for wine. read more

Will never go back again! We always visited Ruggero's on our visits to Flint since the 1980's & we're very very disappointed in our visit 9/11/15. The temperature was set at 61 degrees (Felt like we were in Alaska). Seated at 6:00 pm & served our cold dinners at 7:15. Butter would not even melt in baked potatoes. Could never find our waitress to even pay our bill. Finally checked out at 8:15. Food was also mediocre. read more

I do not take pleasure in writing negative reviews but this place has few redeeming qualities. Would not normally go here but had a family party. Staff was friendly but food was not good at all. Char grilled chicken Caesar salad - chicken was, dry, chewy and unseasoned. Salad dressing seemed to be anything but housemade. At least the romaine seemed crisp and somewhat fresh. My wife's side of pasta with pesto was bland and mushy. My son's pasta with marinara was also subpar-sweet tasting and the aromatics/onions were still crisp. Like they added a few aromatics to a jarred sauce. Would not recommend to anyone that is looking for quality over quantity. read more

My husband and I have been going to Ruggero's for 40 years and it is our favorite restaurant. They have the best garlic toast and we especially like the deluxe lasagna, shells and the best pizza sub around. The pizza is very good to. read more

Here we are with a reservation @ 7pm...Didn't get seating until,7:35pm and just finished with salad and a beer..still waiting on Lasagna Dexluxe..finally got to eat it around 8:23pm. This place is 100% unprofessional, sitting in the sports bar area, appetizers bread was hard, and lasty someone in our party credit card seems to have gotten stuck between the wall and the counter, and can't retrieve it?! Worst place to eat ever!!!! We had a family gathering here. Service sucked chicken was so dry you couldn't swallow it the lasagna was OK the bread was regular bread with garlic butter spread on it. Went with my mom and aunt on 10/21. It was our first time to the new location. When we first walked in there was no one else waiting to be seated or anyone coming in behind us. The "hostess" and I am using that herm extremely loosely. She asked us how many and whisked away to the table. My aunt isn't the fastest. But this woman had one agenda and that was to get the menus to the table. Not us, the customers. The menus were at our table and the hostess was passing on her way back to take-out counter. No "your waitress will be with you" or "thank you for joining us for lunch" nothing. I have never experienced anything like that from a hostess. She had sat two other tables in the same fashion. The woman has no people skills and shouldn't be "greeting" people. After we ordered we ordered and got our drinks we sat for a while wondering where our bread basket. Turns out you have to pay for your bread if it's before 4 pm. That was a bummer but it was only $1 a basket so it wasn't bad at all. My mom and aunt both had the lasagna which is what they normally have so no surprises there. I had something I had never. It was their Bolognese which was cut with their Alfredo to make a yummy creamy bolognese, best dish I've had there :-) I actually rank it with my second favorite place for Italian! Very good:-) Aside from asocial hostess who we seen as we were leaving, I'm thinking was the owner... she was in the banquet room on a laptop with papers strewn about the table. Worst experience I've had at a restaurant in a very long time. I'm not the type who complains to management let alone leave a review, if that tells you anything. Today I went to this restaurant for the first time. The service was horrible. Our waitress took about 10-15 minutes to take our drink order and then took another 10-15 minutes to get the drinks and bread. Everything took forever and the waitress was constantly forgetting things; drinks, bread, meals, sauces ect. I got the chicken parmagana which I sent back die to the fact that it was bland, greasy, and rubbery. The worse part has to be that we got a basket of garlic toast, which were nasty. After everyone ate one I discovered that there were two slices with mold on them. I asked to see a manager immediately. The women who I thought was the manager came over and took the bread to look at it and said she was sorry and that she was going to get the head manager. She took the bread with her. I should have kept it or at least taken pictures. When the head manager finally did come he is there to talk to me about the meal I sent back and was never informed about the moldy bread. When I told him about the bread he denied that it was mold, despite the fact that he didn't see it. I can assure you it was mold. He begins making excuses and saying it could be something burnt on the bread. It was just overall a horrible experience and the food wasn't great either.
