Now it's people who I question have much knowledge of heating and air. I received an estimate for a new central/heat/air unit, then checked back a year later, and was quoted several thousand dollars more. Latest problem was with a furnace that I knew what needed fixed (but was too busy to do myself at this rental). Was told no, it's the thermostat. Charged $65 for a service call with no work done. Didn't even offer to change out the thermostat. So, I changed it. Problem continued. I called them back, they would not waive the service call fee, and insisted to charge it again if they came out and recommended me put in a new furnace, and blamed it on a heat sensor in the duct work, which this furnace doesn't even have... Got the number of a HVAC guy from a friend who listened to me, and fixed the problem I thought it was. A simple pilot light adjustment. Used to be a good company, can't say that any longer. The woman who takes calls is very pleasant though. I'd recommend her for a job anywhere.

An HVAC friend from out of the area walked me through some diagnostics and determined it was the capacitor. I replaced it on my own but didn't let the unit run long enough for the fan to spin outside. I thought I'd bungled the repair or that it was something else. I called Foreman and Austen came out to inspect the furnace. He said I just needed to give it a little more time for the fan to engage on the outside unit. I had fixed it! They could have charged me a fee for coming out to tell me I had fixed it. They could have also told me it was something more expensive or that the unit needed to be replaced, but they didn't. I appreciate the honesty and will be using them from now on.
