I absolutely love going to this jewelry store! The husband and wife that work there are so friendly, helpful AND SO HONEST!!! I have taken several watches in to get serviced and they always did the repair quickly and at a price that just couldn't be beat. I have taken necklaces, pendants and rings to get repaired. Ruby Jewelry is located in a large strip mall on Crenshaw Boulevard and Lomita Boulevard in Torrance. I had originally brought my 14K bangle bracelet for repair. A "youngish" man helped me and did a great job at a reasonable price. When I returned to have my 14K gold graduation ring repaired there was an elderly man and his wife there. I told him my graduation ring had cracked and pulled apart. After I got my ring back I was shocked. My 14K yellow gold ring looked like it had been covered (dipped?) with a dark colored imitation gold plating. The ring had been soldered but the crack still showed on the inside of the ring. The darkish gold colored coating on the inside of the ring had partially come off and had turned black. My ring had a small diamond on top of an onyx. The onyx around the diamond was scratched and damaged probably as the result of dipping a gold colored plating. My ring was ruined. When I showed it to them they denied they had done anything wrong and said the inside crack that was left was the best they could do. The final insult was when I was charged $25 to get my ring back! Never, never go this jewelry store. I now go to Melissa's Jewelry and Repair in Lomita where they've resized multiple rings at a reasonable price. I recommend them highly. read more

I brought my wedding ring to be resized and they ruined my ring. They cut the ring and did a shitty job at soldering it together in addition the solder that was used was not gold. The finish was very rough and looked as though a two year old worked on it. I did not mention that I had to return three times to get to this point. The work is beyond their capabilities and I'm the one who suffered. I called them because the ring actually split where they soldered and requested a refund or at least half a refund as I need to get it fixed. The gentleman just said bring it back,I'll fix it. Obviously he has no idea what a ring should look like. Nice people but this job was outside their wheelhouse. read more

I needed my 50 year old Elgin wristwatch repaired. I brought it to Ruby's and the gentleman that looked at it said he would open it and check it out. He said it probably only needed to be cleaned and lubed which I agreed to, but he said he'd call if it was something else. The next day he called me and said my watch was ready, it only needed to be cleaned and lubed. He could have sold me on unnecessary parts, but he was honest and HE WAS VERY REASONABLY PRICED. My watch is now keeping perfect time and it hasn't run this well since it was new. read more

Good convenient place to get your watch battery changed or your watch repaired. A change of watch battery will cost you about $4.99. We came here once to get a watch repaired (well not really a "repair repair"...basically the watch was too big for my mom's wrist and so we needed them to remove some of the links. This cost about $7. They change the batteries pretty quick and the removal of the watch links is quick too. You can definitely wait and you'll have your watch in a couple of minutes. They seem like very nice people; however; they are gaslighters... one price, suddenly and boom oh its this price now, what was agreed upon wasnt given. I showed ,told, them even got a call from Ruth about the Color gem i needed. THEY KNEW, no it comes back too dark, n they charge me 25 more then agreed. This IS WRONG! After going here more and more, I've lower quality experiences. They quoted me one price to repair a watch, then called later and upped the quote, then when I came to pick up they upped the quote again. It basically tripled in that time, just to replace a cheap japanese movement. Also, their battery replacement costs have been going up as well. Probably better places to go now where they won't jerk you around as much. The woman seems to try to milk you for as much as she can, whereas the man is somewhat more reasonable, but will sometimes succumb to pressure to charge more than is needed. read more

I went here a few years back and had taken expense jewelry to be sized. I had to pay up front and when I went to pick up my items the ring was sized I corrected and the owner told me to just put a ring guard on it. Didn't I just pay to gave it sized.!when I told him it was unable he started yelling at me telling me to get out of his store. read more

I have been coming here to get the batteries on my watches replaced and fix any broken jewelry for over 9 years. I have a crazy amount of watches, nothing fancy. I just love watches. They only charge me $5 to replace the battery! And from time to time they have also fixed my jewelry. I have a two year old boy and he has broken his bracelet and my necklace twice! I have never had any issues with them damaging any of my property. I have also purchased a few silver rings from them. Prices have always been great. Friendly owners. read more

I brought a watch here for a battery replacement and got the watch back with horrible scratches completely covering the glass face of the watch. When I confronted them about it, they just said, "It was like that when you brought it in." wtf?!?! they just shrugged and that was it. I wish I had taken a photo of the before so I could prove it. The owner with an accent waited for me to get there, even though I got there after their closing time. They chanaged my batteries-cleaned my watch- was very accomadating. I took my watch in to have the battery replaced and the guy working there proceeded to deeply scratch the back of my watch as he tried to open it. He was ultimately unable to open it, and when I demanded he return my watch to me before any more damage could be done, he refused, saying he would "fix" it. I demanded he return the watch immediately, but he still went about grinding/buffing the back to remove the deep grooves. I would not take anything here to be fixed, nor will I ever purchase from this store again. read more

I wasn't sure what to think of this place at first. I knew my mom had come here once to get my dads watch fixed but I had no idea how much she paid. My watch battery died and as a newly appointed adult, I didn't know how much it would cost to get it fixed. I walked into this shop and gave them my watch. I failed to ask for a quote, which could have been a mistake on my part, but it all turned out okay. They only charged me $15 for the new battery and the service! I started searching around for a decent watch repair shop and this place was recommended to me by a coworker. I stopped in after work one evening and I'm so glad I did! I was immediately greeted by all of the workers. Everyone there is so warm and friendly! I talked to a man who I think was the owner. We stepped into this store on a whim when my wife and I noticed watches that caught our interest for sale in the window on the way to Starbucks. The lady inside was nice, albeit pushy, but seemed to have the best intentions. We placed a deposit on a watch they did not have in stock, but were EXPLICITY told we could decide on when it arrived. It was portrayed as a "no hassles and worry free deal." We also purchased other items in the store. We were notified three days late of the promised date that the item had arrived. But, I had found a better deal elsewhere and made a purchase since I could not wait any longer. I went in to get a refund and they were flat out RUDE and MEAN. I asked very politely that I just wanted my $100 deposit back and they were quite intent on not giving anything to me at all. Luckily, there were other customers in the store and I played up the victimzed shopper. I actually had to ask, "Please sir, I don't want any trouble...I just want my money please. After all, I did spend money when I first came in here..." They begrudgingly gave me my money back to my debit card. Its been several days since this transaction, and I still haven't seen a penny credited back to account. This place is shady at best. I routinely pay more to patronize small mom and pop establishments, but I will never recommend these thieves to anyone other than the local police. read more

I can't say enough nice things about this place. I have used their repair services, have had them custom make a ring, re-size watch bands and replace batteries as well as making purchases. Very fast and straight forward, no problems whatsoever. I had inherited a beaded necklace that I brought in to have re-strung. When I picked it up I wasn't thrilled with the clasp. They insisted that they do it again to my liking, no extra charge and very, very nice about it since it was my miscommunication when I dropped it off. I also took a design to them for a ring that I wanted made. They did it to the EXACT specifications and with a very reasonable turn around time. They are my go to local jeweler. I have a sizable collection of high end watches and Jimmy has been doing most of the service on them for years. Sometimes on my Omega or Rolex pieces, he has them sent out, but at a notable premium. He (and his wife Ruth) are such a pleasure to do business with! Jimmy does most of my simple repairs (bands, batteries etc) right on the spot. The prices for these simple "fixes" are usually just $5-$15 and up depending on the service. If you need a quick battery or band change he's quick and almost always in that 5-15 range. I can't see a reason to go anywhere else for my frequent watch needs. He also does all of my wife's jewelry resizing, stone setting etc. She also likes them very much! They always ask me to say Hi to my wife when I go alone. Friendly folks, good work and excellent pricing is how Ruby jewelry rolls!
