Get a second opinion!!!!! The told me my 2 and a half year old needed 8 ( yes thats right~!! EIGHT FILLINGS !!!!!and was going to require painful anesthesia and extensive drilling and be very expensive. A second opinion revealed that he only needed one tiny filling, which our amazing family dentist was able to fill with no anesthesia ( you know who you are Doctor Peters!!!!) in about 10 minutes of my baby in the chair. Here we are 4 years later and he finally needs only one more filling. They WAY overdramatized the severity of what was happening in my Childs mouth. GET A SECOND OPINION EVERY TIME. read more

They play fun music and are very prompt. They do not keep you in the waiting room long at all. I had a great dental cleaning from Edwin. Overseen by Dr. Rochon. I chose strawberry toothpaste and strawberry fluoride because I'll always feel nostalgic continuing to go to my childhood dentist for cleanings and x-rays. They got all the gritty tooth past out and were not vicious with the floss. They gave good advice for avoiding gum recession and keeping my built in retainer clean and sturdy. Our 8-year old son has had a lot of anxiety at previous dentists. Dr. Ruby and his staff made our son feel relaxed and comfortable right away. The office is very child-centered and the hygienists listened to our requests for explaining things to our son before they would do them. They put him at ease and even made him laugh! We had to put him under IV sedation for his dental work and Dr. Rochon did an excellent job explaining the procedure and answering all our questions. Dr. Ruby also took the time to help us understand why he had to do the work and how we can prevent more cavities in the future. The office staff are friendly and professional, explaining the costs and billing procedures thoroughly. We started going to Dr Rochon upon the recommendation of our pediatrician in 2008. Although we live in Goleta and have closer choices we would never consider going anywhere else. They have a very kid friendly office and the staff could not be more accommodating. My son first saw Dr. Rubys smiley face and energetic self at age 2 and has been going yearly since. The office staff are always inviting, attentive and accommodating for the individuals needs. The staff is noted to have the best bed side manners to both patients and adults. I feel compelled to review Dr. Ruby and share my experience. My 4 year old son needed dental work on his four front teeth. The first pediatric dentist, suggested four fillings at once, and possible removal of the first tooth. I balked and went to Dr. Ruby for a second opinion. He insisted we get new X-rays, claiming the ones my son had 5 days prior weren't "accurate". I was uncomfortable with doing new X-Rays and exposing my son to radiation, and he had the nurse bring us into the play room while he lectured me for 15 minutes on "doing the right thing". He then had the nurse bring us balloons while he asked my son if he wanted his pictures taken again. After I relented, he did the X-rays and claimed that in order to do to do the dental work, my son would need to be sedated and put through oral surgery for 1.5 hours. He insisted the Anesthesiologist comes from UCLA, and everything would be fine. To top it off, he pressured me for an hour to make the appointment that next day. I just wanted to get out of there, something about the whole thing didn't feel right. I went to La Cumbre dental the next day, and had a third opinion, which was to fill the cavities, no sedation, no needles, surgery, etc. They did the dental work in 30 minutes, no numbing needed!!!! It has been 2 years since, and the filings are great, no follow up, no further cavities. My blood still boils thinking about Dr. Ruby and what a crook he is. Not to mention sedating children, trying to pressure you into things you do not need, all for his benefit. DISGUSTING. this man, including his staff, should NOT be in the business of children. They should be ashamed of themselves. DO NOT sacrifice your child's safety or health coming here. read more

Looooove this dentist! My 3-year-old had a tooth that turned gray, died and eventually formed an abscess and had to be removed. Dr. Ruby did such a great job with him. His demeanor is kind and patient and he used a little gas to keep my son calm while they numbed the gums. He hardly noticed the injection or when they yanked the tooth. All he remembered of the experience was the grape-smell he liked (from the gas) and the prize bucket he got to choose from after the visit. Sooo different from my own childhood experience. Also, we have had great check-ups since then. The hygienists are great with kids and so patient. My kids ask when they get to go to the dentist again! This is as it should be! My 2.5 year old fell and ended up having abscesses on both front teeth. It was heartbreaking to realize he could not even chew with these teeth after the incident due to the pain. I found Dr. Rachon by searching on the internet and I had such a GREAT experience that I had to post this review. I have never had such kind and compassionate individuals help me through such a hard time with my child. Watching your child in pain and need anesthesia for a procedure was nothing easy. As a nurse my self I appreciate the kind and compassionate people in this world. From the front desk staff, assistants, anesthesiologist, to Dr. Rachon they were AMAZING. My husband and I could not have asked for better support. They explained all our options, were great with our son and truly amazed me. Wonderful staff, extremely patient and kind towards children and really knowledgeable. My son enjoys seeing both Dr Ruby and Dr Rochon and I can't tell you how easy it is now for my husband and I to brush and floss thanks to all the helpful tips and tricks!
