Went to Ruben's tacos for their taco speacil and i really enjoyed it. Tacos are 99 cents on Tuesdays with the exception of some meats like lengua and asada. I ordered cabeza tacos which were really soft and al pastor which was also good but a little on the spicy side. I also got a side of rice and beans which is always great. I also highly reccomend their agua frescas. The service is always great, cashiers/waiters are very attentive and friendly. They check in on you and make sure you got everything you need when you dine in. Although the restaurant is a little run down and could use a bit of an update there's plenty of seating inside or you can always opt for take out. I should've looked this place up before coming. I ordered chilaquiles and my mom tacos dorados and they were both not it. The chicken inside the tacos looked and tasted weird, it wasn't shredded. The chilaquiles at first they made them extra spicy, I had to ask them to redo it. Once they did, the sauce just tasted awful. Needless to say, never coming back. Honestly, it's a little hole in the wall not the prettiest inside, but the food is pretty good. I always get the Carne Asada Maze . It's like a giant corn quesadilla with Carne Asada inside. It's kind of expensive. I think it's like $18 dollars but it's enough to share make sure you get some of their salsa read more

We had bought tacos and quesadillas but the taco meat had tasted funky and was not well seasoned along with barley any portion of meat and WAY to much tortilla. Very basic Mexican food, the inside is not really nice at all, just old but it isn't dirty or anything. The prices are really high for the food, it did not justify the taste. Got a Mulita, a drink, and a couple of tacos and paid over almost $40. It also took them about 30 minutes for my food and they were not too busy so the service wasn't that great efficiency wise. I have been coming here for a few years. I have always enjoyed their food. But after going there a few times recently, the quality has gone down. I had shrimp tacos and they smelled pretty bad and they still had the skin left over them They weren't cooked or cleaned right too. The salsa that I really loved had a lot of the seeds in it and it was hard to eat. Their drinks are overly sugary too! I was so disappointed. This use to be a good place. My last experience was horrible. The lady taking the order wasn't very welcoming. I asked for 2 drinks but I asked her either out ice because I have a cough, she snapped at me and said it's impossible so I just looked at her. I was like what happened to customer satisfaction?? The tacos I ordered we cold with like so little meat that it just looked like it was smeared on the tortillas. I also ordered carne asada nachos the tortilla chips were like a little to fried that they taste different the it had very little beans the meat was so small it was more of the cheese I tasted. I eat habaneros whole regularly, and am a former salsa company owner. I've eaten Bhut Jalokia and Ghost peppers raw. I make a 12-pepper roasted salsa called Jet Fuel that makes even grown men teary-eyed and snotty. My lady just wanted a normal wet burrito, not spicy. She got a wet burrito so hot it was hotter than the salsa that came with it. I put one of my habaneros in the photo to make the point that the wet sauce and the habanero were at about the same heat level. Just know that the wet burrito is effing hot. The first time we went to Rubens on Arlington the breakfast burrito was fantastic. The next time we went to Rubens I don't know if it was because of a language issue or they just thought it was funny but they gave us the hottest burrito I've ever had. After that we never really got a great order. They put rice in their breakfast burrito? The other burritos we got seem to have random combinations. We couldn't even make an order because they would get it wrong or make it super hot or add the wrong things. Super expensive for everything on the menu. Rude cook. Nice cashier. Had my tacos wrapped in tinfoil for 5+ min while he was in the back. Left my quesadilla on the grill and it burnt the tortilla. Ive been going here for about 2 years and I had never had a problem,until now . They recently hired a lot of new employees and let others go. The cook was amazing and cashiers all friendly. Now I can't say that anymore. The food is greasy ,the cooks are always mad or irritated , as well as the cashiers ,I understand it gets busy but when u deal with customer service you you have to know how to treat your customers ! -The first problem I had was being over charged 20$ and them not wanting to give me my money back! The manager said "next time pay attention how much the charge you" ,instead of talking to her cashier to not make the same mistake again! -The second problem I had was on memorial weekend ,Monday afternoon. I always order my food to go so I called in my order. The only problem was the tacos for my kids.i had ordered them plain since they are picky eaters. I told the cashier if she could comply replace them and instead of apologizing for making my order incorrect ,she tells me " next time pay attention to what u order! We get a lot of customers that say they ordered things a specific way and that's not true! They just can't make up their mind! " I responded with a simple "I know what I ordered and I'm just asking for my tacos to be replaced " ,her response" well I'm the one who took the order and I know what I wrote down ! Next time pay attention to how u order & if u want to complain go ahead my name is leticia" after that she calls another employee (she was new) and tells her "can you get her stupid tacos" .. She didn't care I was standing there, or other customers ..can you imagine what a bad example that is to new employees! (Not to mention she had a customer waiting for like 25 mins for his quesadilla and she charged him for 2 instead of 2) she didn't apologize to any one for how rude she was and she didn't take care of my order personally . When I was there it was just me and the customers waiting for their orders. She wasn't doing anything! She continued to talk smack instead of getting my order ! I will NEVER go back to Rubens tacos. The quesadilla!! Nothing fancy here just some really tasty Mexican food!! Driving up to this little hole in the wall spot, you kind of re-think should I really go here? Yes you should! Usually the only Filipino walking in with my Mexican boo into this place so I get some stares from the local diners but it's all good, I'm here for my delicious quesadilla fix! My GO TO dish, if it wasn't already obvious, is the quesadilla asada, sooooooooo delicious, it leaves me speechless, paired with their spicy salsa, YUM! The portion size is pretty big as well, I usually share unless I'm famished, then in that case, make it two :p it's so simple, but the way they make it here is always on point! While I'm not usually the type of person to spread negativity, however I feel this needs to be said. We arrived yesterday around 6-7 ish after work, I had been here previously but hadn't visited in a few years so I thought I'd swing by. In short we got three militias, two tacos, and a torta with two agua frescas. I though it would have been $40 maybe $50, it came out to $75. I will say the militias were larger than I thought they would be, but $75 was crazy. One issue I had was that the prices were not listed on the wall that has the menu, the only place that had pricing was a small menu on the counter that was covered by the lady while she took our order so no way to gauge how much that was going to cost us. Furthermore, the food was lackluster. While it is not the worst meal I've ever had for the price I could never justify going again. We only ate maybe half of the food and threw away the rest. I found bones (or what I hope are bones) in my birria. My fiancé hated the chicken, but said the al pastor was okay. The waters were good, but not a reason to come back, for what we spend I was expecting better. I didn't read the reviews, and from what I can tell it's has been like this for a while. I'm not to sure what happened but this place used to be one of my favorites. read more

Where is the review I already left? OK well here it goes again. I figured I'd try this place out driving by in my route, I'm a truck driver and I only get a half hour for lunch it took 25 minutes to get my food and they were not very busy? I had to ask for chips which when I received they were cold I had to ask for salsa, which they gave me some Ziploc sealed packets . No chip scooping salsa here. (See Pic) All of the food was too salty ,especially the cheese inside the two cheese enchiladas the two chicken enchiladas not good they put cold shredded cheese on the top of them instead of melting the way they should've been prepared, so I sent it back and they did melt the cheese for me but the overall flavor was not good because there was no enchilada sauce to speak of, as they only dip the tortillas in a little bit of red sauce and warm them up and then rolled up the enchiladas and I (could not) and did not finish the meal. The picture shows when I stopped. I really wish they didn't have you pay upfront. I never do this but I actually asked for a refund and they told me no they can't do that right now. It was such a bummer, because I have not been able to sit inside a restaurant for so long with the Covid and was happily surprised that I could eat inside there...... but wished I'd never went there! read more
