I've lived at the same address for over 17 years. In that span of time I've only had Rubitano as my waste removal company. If there were other options available I would have tried them. I can't count the number of times I've physically watched as the employees spill trash in front of my house and just drive away leaving it there. They spilled glass bottles which broke looked at the broken glass and left it. Which I cleaned up, not wanting someone driving over it and puncturing their tires or getting injured. Not only are they incredibly sloppy they don't seem to grasp the concept that it's their job to collect ALL the trash. Not a portion and leave the rest inside the bin. I've watched them kick bins, throw them down letting them land on their sides or better yet chucking it right in front of my driveway so that I'm forced to move it to the curbside (where is goes according to rubitano themselves) in order to you know park... I've overheard them cussing to each other or standing there on their phones chilling apparently my house coincides with their break...? Today, like approximately 50-60% of the time I've observed, I watched them spill trash onto my street. As I cleaned it up and went to put it inside my empty....wait!! It's not empty!! Surprise!! Haha! They left multiple bags inside. SUPER. So basically I pay upwards of $90.00, (that's thousands of dollars in the 17 years I've lived at my residence) every other month and over 1/2 of the time the job isn't done. I've called many many many times. I've been friendly, irritated, angry, exasperated etc... I've even made excuses for them. They (call center) seem like they want to help and tell me they will contact the driver and sometimes they do come back the same day and fix the problem. Unfortunately more often than not they don't and the same thing happens again the next week. Clearly they don't want to hear from their customers or make any real changes to improve the quality of their service. Because they are the only waste management provider for my area -and they know it- they also know that I have no other options outside of continuing to pay them for services NOT rendered. Rubatino is . . . not great. And the root cause is obvious--they don't charge enough. $31/mo for garbage and recycling is the normal rate for weekly collection in June 2025. That's a standard garbage tote and a large recycling tote. That *is* *not* *enough* to support the business, they are running extremely lean, and they most likely do not have the opex to pay for enough headcount to *not* skip houses. I guess I just get the short end of the stick--I get skipped fairly frequently, as does everyone else on my street. read more

Rubatino recently forced us to switch from 2 small recycling bins, to a single HUGE blue bin that is significantly larger than our assigned garbage bin! Worse, when I contacted Rubatino about obtaining a more realistically-sized bin, they said no--a serious problem because our property offers literally NO place outdoors to store this beast aside from the sidewalk. Unfortunately Rubatino is the only refuse service available to us, so we are now forced to keep the thing inside our already cramped garage. It is absurd that Rubatino is forcing what is clearly a commercial-sized bin on customers with no real space to accommodate it. read more

They always come on the scheduled days, but that is about the only good thing to say, there is always garbage all over the ally after they do a pick up and the buggy guy taking care of the waste bin never actually completely empties out the garbage, just takes out the bags (You know the service I actually pay for). Yard waste guys slam down and break bins with their truck, have had to fix both wheels on my bin because of the recklessness. So glad we moved away from the area. Rubatino is the worst waste removal company ever. They skip houses and entire streets for NO REASON! Their office hours are short and unacceptable; as a business they should maintain minimum basic 9-5 hours. Their customer service lacks; half the time you can't even get anyone in the phone to answer a question. They overload the mini pickup open trucks and end up dumping trash and bags along the road and don't come back to pick them up. The fact that the customers have to use small open top bins to sort recycling is ridiculous. Half the time the pick ups throw it wherever they want in the trucks and it makes a big mess; blows all over the street and yards; drips on shoes and clothes; it's an absolute complete WASTE of everyone's freaking time. Im glad we don't have to use this service anymore. So beyond glad to not have to deal with this sham of a company anymore. read more

I just moved to Everett in February and can't believe how consistently horrible Rubatino's service is! How can any city allow a company to openly litter the streets? All you have to do is follow one of the small collection vehicles for a few blocks to see why it happens... they're in a hurry and they overload the vehicle , no doubt pressure from above to maximize productivity. I have an account on auto-pay and always stay current. I ordered and paid for a container 5 months ago and just got a call today from some lady upset that there was some additional charge on it that was unpaid for. She claimed she was trying to track me down for months and had put so much effort in that she more than earned the $6 late charge they nickel and dimed me for. Come on guys! She already had my card on file! Just charge whatever the cost is on my autopay account when it's due. Don't wait 5 months and then try to shame me like I'm a deadbeat running away from a bill. I don't know many apartment owners that try to skip out on their garbage bills. You guys are big enough that you should have better systems in place by now that don't waste everyone's time. Overall, our experience with Rubatino has not been great. Our bins are frequently mixed up with those of our neighbors, some of whom drink beer and don't clean their bottles out, so we end up getting a nastier bin each time our trash is picked up despite my cleaning it every week. I usually see the driver attempting some unimpressive juggling routine with our bins. He hasn't gotten any better, but I'm rooting for him. If the bins aren't mixed up, they're knocked over. More importantly, this always leads to a lot of loose trash that then floats away and litters our neighborhood. The drivers are rushed, which negatively impacts the quality of service they can provide. Additionally, because they are rushed, I have seen them flying through our narrow streets on multiple occasions. We have kids running about, especially during the summer. You are sloppy. Do better and be mindful of your surroundings. I called this morning for an update on when recycling would be removed today (since they've always been removed together but today, our recycling had been left for a later p/u). Apparently Rubatino has a policy where they can "guarantee the day, but not the time". That's all fine, but as a new customer (unfortunately), this isn't information we're going to know. My simple inquiry was immediately met with attitude and defensiveness from their phone representative, Kayla. The customer service she offered was about what you might expect from a second-rate waste management company. I was caught off-guard at how assertive and rude she was within 10 seconds of the call. Thankfully she isn't an employee of mine, otherwise she'd be taken off the phones and repositioned for a role that better matches her skillset. This is literally the most basic form of customer service. I wanted to express my other concerns when I called, but it was obvious that Kayla's customer service skills were on par with the juggling skills of the driver mentioned earlier. Sadly, we don't have any other options, but hopefully the company can learn to take pride in their service to the community and provide basic training to a clearly undertrained and underqualified staff. FYI: Rubatino iRefuse Removal is no longer accommodating handicapped or elderly folks. I have a very short paved driveway which their scooter has traveled for 33 years to pickup my garbage can inside my carport. This week there was no pickup. So I had to call them repeatedly only to find out that I have to pay an extra $8 per month service fee or tote my garbage can to the curb. I am elderly and unable to perform that task so I guess I'm stuck with that fee. It would have been nice to be notified in advanced instead of just suddenly stopping pickups. read more

I'm a senior and have owned houses in IL, AZ, and now WA. NEVER have I had an issue with a garbage collection company. With Rubatino it's a regular drill. I pay extra to have them come down my steep driveway to pick up garbage. Once again today they didn't pick it up. I called at 1pm and the office promised they'd be back today. Never showed up. I called again at 4 and all I got was voicemail. So now (once again) I get to see my driveway loaded with a weeks full of garbage until Monday when they had better come back or I swear there will be hell to pay! I've also asked for new CLEAN garbage cans multiple times over the past 6 years. No response. I'm on a corner with no alley access so my cans sit in my driveway. I want CLEAN garbage cans! For what they charge, I want a new, clean set of cans every freaking year! read more

We were caught off guard by the change in delivery schedule due to the snow. I know we are supposed to have our cans out early, but they have always come to our neighborhood late enough I could put them out in the morning instead of the night before. This morning, we missed our pick up, but they were still in the area with their little carts. I rolled my can out hoping to catch up with one of them. The driver, CT, came right over to get it. I asked if he could wait for my second can and he cheerfully agreed. I had boxes neatly organized in a very thin box for taking away, and it was actually 3x3! Why does that matter? Cause when I called and spoke to Rhonda, she asked if the boxes were all 3x3! Rubatino I has always taken our excess garbage and recycling. They always leave the alley spotless and all our cans stack neatly against the back of the shop. We had such an excess when we had an entire room of baby furniture cardboard and asked if I should drop it off instead. Nope! They just took it all from my curb. Didn't even charge me an excess. Wow is this Business stuck in the past. You have to sort out your recycling in different bins that is so 25 years ago. They don't have trucks that pick up your "Toter" garbage can. They make their guys run around in 3 wheeled golf cart type things and they have to reach into your garbage can and pull out your garbage, So when someone walks by and drops their baggie of dog shit in there it goes to the bottom and the garbage guys can't reach it. Honestly I quit setting my dumpster out a long time ago and never expect it to get picked up if I do set it out. You call and they are nice in the office offering 2$ off your bill for your week since it didn't get picked up and they will immediately have someone come out next day and get it so leave it out. Next day, still full, call back, day after still full, call back. I've had it sit for three weeks without getting picked up(yes lid is fully closed, it's right next to the street facing the correct direction). Guess who still pays a full bill? Winters not as big of a deal but summer time, holy cow just pick the dam thing up once a week! Please! Ultimately I should start my own garbage business in Everett. I feel like I could single handedly do better myself and I'm not trying to talk myself up here, rubatino is unfortunately just that bad. Was going to give them a 2 star because the office gals are usually really nice about taking calls good and bad but lately they have beed awful rude as well. It's really no surprise I come to leave a poor review, and see all of the same complaints I have. That goes to show how terrible this service really is. It's truly disappointing the lack of responsibility, ownership and amendment being displayed. I mean, it is literally your job to pick up trash. So if you see a crow/animal has gotten to the trash in the early morning- PICK IT UP. If the wind blows it over- PICK IT UP, we live in a windy state for heaven sake, when you're quickly tossing the bins in your useless buggy- PICK IT UP!! Not all of us are home to do so prior to your pick up, nor in my opinion should we have to. Seriously, who's "genius" idea was it to have the worlds smallest, open lid recycling bins and those tiny buggy carts they collect in??? Setting us all up for failure honestly. The employees are trash (pun intended) I have literally watched them countless of times spill trash, ignore it and move to the next house. I'm consistently picking up trash that's not mine in my front yard/driveway due to their laziness. Also causing a huge ant problem. Rubatino needs to make this right. Upgrade your way of collecting trash/recycling, hire mature employees or pay them more???? Part of the reason we moved is that Rubatinos is so bad. Having to sort the recycling, into small bins, that blows around. They don't empty the bins, and let garbage fly on the street and floor. 20% of the time, they don't actually pick up. Worst garbage men ever. I work at an apartment complex and these guys coming to empty the bins don't empty them all the way, never put the trash bins back in the designated spots (left in the driveway - 3 yard bins for residents to drive around). Never empty all the recycling bins only do 2 out of 4 at each recycling area. Throw trash all over the ground. Call the office and they'll be rude to you. I've been into the office and were rude in person as well. But stuck with them since it's Everett. read more

Well, maybe things have changed, but I just spoke with a delightful young lady on the phone. She answered my questions and solved my problem. Also love the guys who pick up our garbage every week! Friendly and helpful! I'm changing my review; first of all, the young lady was sweet, and although she made promises, they never happened! Yesterday, for some reason our recycling wasn't picked up although everyone else on our streets was! Husband called, and the woman was rude and basically told him she couldn't or wouldn't send anyone that day. Well, so far she hasn't sent anyone today either! Most of the criticism of Rubatino's garbage and recycle haulers I have read deal with the aftermath of their pick up. Did it ever occur to you to consider a message was left for you? Drive around your neighborhood sometime and really look at what is being left on the curbs for these guys to deal with. I wouldn't touch a lot of it without a hazard mask and suit. These are the worst garbage service ever. They leave a trail of garbage up and down the street. They throw the trash bins everywhere and leave them in the middle of the street. No pride or work ethic here and the office staff makes excuses each and every time. They missed my garbage twice. I called and they said they would send someone at the end of the day. Pretty lousy that we have no other choice with our garbage pickers in Everett besides driving my trash across town to the dump myself! I live in an apartment complex that has a dumpster in the alley for the 4 units on the property. It's behind a latched (unlocked) gate that needs to be opened every time you put your trash into the dumpster or when it's being picked up by Rubatino. The entire rest of the stretch of the alley is houses that just have normal bins in the alley, no gates or dumpsters. In the past, for 3 weeks in a row they skipped opening our gate and dumping our dumpster, I guess because opening the gate and rolling the dumpster to the trucks lift, then back into the gate was too much of a hassle for the young guy picking up trash so he decided to just keep skipping it. No one called the company for some reason until 3 weeks of no emptied dumpster, our fault on that part. But 3 weeks of just driving past ONLY OUR dumpster but picking up everyone else's trash in the alley..? The reason we have a gate in the first place is because other people would drive up and throw their trash into our dumpster and it'd be completely full in 2 days, so we need a gate to deter the a**holes from dumping their trash into other peoples dumpsters! Finally, after I called the company the lady who answered said they'd have it picked up next day and didn't know why it wasn't picked up for 3 weeks, adding she'd also talk to the driver. But today, I'm up drinking coffee and hear the truck pull up in the alley. I watch the young guy open the gate and pull the dumpster out to the trucks lift, dump it, then half ass attempt to push it back into the gate and decided to just leave the dumpster sitting practically in the alley, and leave the gate doors wide open. The alley is very narrow and when the gate doors are all the way open it's hard for cars to get through because the doors open into the driving space of the alley. Way to go Rubatino! At least hire some people who can actually do their job! It's the only dumpster in the entire stretch of the alley it only takes a few extra seconds to push the dumpster back into the gate and close it before driving off!! Thanks! read more

We've been Rubatino customers for 10 years in the Everett area. They've offered flawless service and we have ZERO complaints. I see the other negative Yelp complaints and I think some people like to complain because they're generally negative folks. If a person has a complaint, contact the vendor and I have no doubt they'll help you out. I did call once a few years ago about an issue, and Rubatino was quick to resolve it. It's a tough job so give them a break instead of so much whining on Yelp. The wife and I give Rubatino an A+ rating. read more

I have had WM (waste management) when I lived in various different places. I was told Rubatino obtained in city Everett contract. I think WM is used outside the city limits? Anyhoo...I have to dig through my garbage and separate 'ish' for them to pick up. I am not a garbage diver.....hello! I put everything outside my fence for them to pick up. Neat and tidy, as it is 'ish'. Almost EVERY week, my garbage cans, and recycling bins are found tossed back on or around the area of pick up. There is ALWAYS garbage found on the ground or up and down the alley after garbage pick up days, it is ALWAYS after garbage days. I then have to go back and pick up that 'ish' to possibly get a second chance the following week for pick up. Hello, if I had wanted to be a refuse pick up person, I would of BEEN one. I never sorted my garbage or picked up tossed recepticles, or much if any 'ish' after WM managed my garbage. Yes they cost more. Yes they have a greater service in that most is picked up by electronic hands and dumped. Cost analysis=more money. Has to be some middle ground somewhere? BUT, would pay more for less dumpster diving, wandering around looking for lids/garbage cans, picking up weekly after 'kids' who didn't do a thorough job. Rubatino, if you want to stay in business, clean it up better, or eventually even Everett will toss you. Appreciate the nice staff who answer the phones, but its the actual workers on the street who are having the difficulties. YES this is a hard job picking up 'ish', especially since you are doing it the old way of using hands. Rubatino, time to invest some money on how things get accomplished. Just moved into the neighborhood and first pickup was today. Yes it's a little blustery. But when I went out to get my containers I found 4 plastic items that had spilled out of their truck and blew onto my front yard and sidewalk. And none of them were mine - they obviously blew away from where they were loading a neighbor's garbage. Very unprofessional to just leave it there. I tried to flag down the driver to tell him and he ignored me. I agree with the other poor reviews. I had to separate out my recyclables into small containers when I lived in Seattle in the 70s. Every week the guys who pick up our recycling throw the bins in the road in front of our driveway. We leave them on the side walk yet they literally throw them from the truck into the street. They can't be bothered to walk them 10 ft or less back to the sidewalk. The people who pick up the trash are just as bad. There isn't one week where trash or recycling material isn't littered across our cul de sac. No one in my neighborhood likes these people or the company but we don't get a choice. read more

These people on the phone are the worst. I called and I scheduled a pickup of a construction dumpster that I had at my house and a couple of days after I called to change it to a different date. I called on a Wednesday to change it the person that I talked to said that they didn't know if they could take it the next day out but they could take it on Friday for sure. Friday came they never picked it up and they told me that I didn't talk to anyone there so basically that I was lying. They refuse to acknowledge that I had called to change the date. I hope there's another garbage company that services this area they need to get rid of the staff that works on the phones they could do much better.
