When we experienced biller issues Rabenstein originally was to arrive the next morning but we bit…read morethe bullet and agreed to pay the after hours price (big mistake!) even thought it was 3:30pm tech diagnosed it as a bad blower motor. Luckily they had one at the shop ($1300 which I agreed to pay) but not worries thus far. He wrapped up and moved along... the next day, I was concerned about the pricing and asked a local HVAC distributor about the price on the motor and they priced it at $200.... Seriously? 600 % mark up? Looks at the invoice and realized I was charged for 4 hours... my phone log and cameras show he called when he left his previous job at 3:29pm and left my house at 6:30pm. When I called the office the next day they needed to check on a few things but would call me back. Their response: part was another end model and was therefore more expensive. 6-1/2 times more expensive? I have to admit he did tell me it was expensive. As far as the rake, they informed me that they build door-to-door meaning from when he leaves his last appointment to whenever he either clocks out or goes to his next appointment so I was charging an additional hour for most likely his travel home. Sour grapes? Maybe but do yourself a favor. Get the details of the pricing before you commit to anything.

In December I had my furnace serviced by this company. Their service man did a sloppy job and…read moreknocked a line loose in furnace. I found a pool of water. He came back tightened one end of what he knocked loose. Next day more water. They sent another guy who determined the wrong end was tightened and needed the other end tightened of what was knocked loose. Not one issue was had until their workers showed up. I got a bill for the furnace service which I paid on time. Weeks later I got a bill for $68 for their second appearance at my Home where they came to fix something their men messed up. I left two-three voicemails at the office with no return call. Got a call from their office in January which I told their office lady what happened and I had tried to call multiple times with no call back and wondered why I had to pay for their mess up. She assured me she would take care of it understood and not to worry about the bill. Today I got a letter from a local collections office for the same bill she said was taken care of. I expect an explanation. But shocker no call back. This isn't the first issue we have had with this company. The lack of professionalism, organization, attention to detail and honest work is disgusting.

I brought my onboard RV generator to Berrena three times. For the initial repair, they charged me…read morefor more hours than they spent. When I brought it back, not working, the tech said he "did the same thing as last time," and not surprisingly it still didn't work. The third time they offered to "fix" it for another $300 in parts and "only" another hour of labor. I requested, and received, a refund for all but an oil change and spark plug hat I had them do while the genny was out. They charged me $250. Another repair service found numerous issues with the "repair," including low (and possibly old) oil. My generator has worked perfectly since they fixed it. I asked Berrena for a refund of the "$250 oil change" and was refused. The service manager told me he had watched the tech do it, said it was 2 quarts of oil, which my generator does not hold. Their own invoice only listed one, so this was patently false. The hours and aggravation, as well as the $250 I am now addressing with the Better Business Bureau, add up to probably the worst customer service experience I have ever had. I don't like writing bad reviews, but I don't want anyone else to go through this. Beware.

WARNING!!! Our HVAC stopped working at our cabin. My husband called Berrena because they were…read moreLOCAL in Huntington. Technician arrived, nice enough guy. He opened our unit and found a dead mouse had shorted out our capacitor, he removed mouse...asked my husband to turn on unit. Did a voltage check. Talked for about 20 minutes and said he lives in Cassville, about 15 minutes from our cabin and was heading home. Total visit, including chat was 30 minutes. Received bill for TWO HOURS. Husband called the office and the explanation was that tech's previous appointment was in CENTRE COUNTY. So they charged us for travel from Centre County, when Berrena's office is in downtown Huntington. WHAT??? My husband called to question bill and billing said that's their policy...to charge the next customer the drive time from where tech was last. Husband asked to speak with owner, and was put thru to Matt Berrena, who was very rude and extremely unprofessional. He said I'll see you in court and hung up on my husband. Husband called several times to ask that 1 hour be removed from bill, then he would pay. Each time he was met with rudeness and unprofessional responses by Matt Berrena. THIS COMPANY RIPS OFF ITS CUSTOMERS AND CHARGES OUTRAGEOUS EXTRA FEES. Beware...you could be next! NEVER, EVER call Joseph Berrena Mechanical for service!!! Subsequent to this experience, we had another issue and called Allied Mechanical, also located in Huntington. Tech showed up, spent 50 minutes and repaired the problem. We were billed for one hour. VERY happy with Allied! Call them if you need service!
