I have not taken my dog to a groomer for what seems like a long time (due to the pandemic). We used to visit a specific groomer every couple of months. This however became very costly and found that after pick up, I was going over spots that were missed/uneven. I took matters into my own hands and purchased all tools needed to groom my dog at home. This helped with the upkeep and saved me some money. I found this at home process to be very sufficient as I got better at grooming my dog each time. Because I'm not a professional, the process takes a bit longer for me to complete. I didn't have the time to groom my dog so I decided to give Rub A Dub a try. A little background, I have a small shitzu weighing roughly 10 lbs. I called for a quote and the owner advised a range depending on how my dogs hair was. Rub A Dub had the soonest available date so I scheduled an appt. Dropped my dog off and was advised a specific time to come back for pick up. I come back the time the owner had advised and learned that my dog was not ready. I had to come back in another hour. Now I understand that the owner may have needed more time to complete my dog but a call would have helped. Thankfully I wasn't too far but it was definitely an inconvenience and frustrating taking into consideration that I was a new customer.. An hour had passed, my dog was ready for pick up. I saw her and there were a few areas I had asked the owner to go over before I paid and left. He proceeded to go over the spots that were missed and rudely said that he couldn't do anymore/spend time as he had another dog on the table.. In addition, when I had dropped my dog off, the owner never mentioned that it was cash only. Thank goodness I read the small sign there was on the glass. It would have been helpful if that was mentioned earlier on when I made the appt. In closing, he had also said there would be a bandana and snacks for my dog included in the full price. This was not supplied either. Overall, the job was done but my dogs haircut was choppy. I was not happy with the whole experience and doubt I will bring my dog back. Sorry. read more

Jerry and Janine did a great job on Gem today. She was very matted and they carefully got all the knots out without having to shave her hair off. I highly recommend them for grooming. I have been coming to this dog grooming place for several years. I bring my 2 havanese dogs and the owner does a consistently good job. Sometimes he works up to the last minute and I arrive 10min earlier he could rush a bit and miss a spot here or there but otherwise it a very good cut. I would definitely recomend. read more

This is a wonderful facility to have your dog groomed. Jeanine and Gerry are both patient and caring for the animals. My dog loves to go there and he always comes out looking beautiful. Gerry always previews the dog's hair before doing any work and brings to my attention any special needs such as knots, etc and provides solutions so that a reoccurrence is minimized. Gerry @ Rub a Dub Doggie is amazing and thoroughly deserves a 5 star review... Knowing that he was going to have to take a short time off for medical leave, Gerry made sure he stayed working until 10 o'clock at night to get through all his regulars so everyone was taken care of before he left. Amazing dedication that you only find from someone who owns their own business. He does a great job with our two labradoodles. They are calm and happy with him, which is more than I can say with their last experience in a grooming mobile van. He never cuts more than he has to, and they come out looking fluffy and adorable. Best of all, he has a partnership with Cheryl Klein at Daily Skoop (who we also love, btw), so she picks up and delivers the dogs, with a walk. We come home from work to find to clean, happy, fluffy puppies. Love it. read more

Do not go here!!! My son was quoted one price, at drop of was told another and upon pickup the price went up even more. Our dogs body and tail was totally shaved down and her head and face left long. Her nails are half clipped and ears weren't even cleaned. When questioned, the owner started yelling and took our dog and locked her behind a door and threatened to call the police. His wife even told him to just charge original quoted price. Stay clear of this place unless you want to waste your money and have your dog look funny. Nice guy but when I brought my Pekingese in he needed some serious work I wanted his hair completely short because it was very long and he had been shedding a lot. the guy informed my boyfriend that he wouldn't be able to cut it short because winter is coming and Pekingese have long hair. My boyfriend said OK that's fine just do what you got to do and He went to pick him up and it didn't even look like he touched my dog except his paws and a bath, I had to cut some hair off him when they got home... I'm very disappointed, it seemed like a nice place with nice owners, I was expecting a lot more. the guy was lucky cuz if I was the one who went In to get him I would have made him redo the job, waste of $60, will not be back! read more

This is by far the best dog groomer in Hawthorne. Every haircut my dog gets is consistently great. The owner, Jerry Scillia, is a great groomer and even suggested these supplements that my Maltese takes for his arthritis and it has helped so much!
