I trust him implicitly and he has never led me astray. He always asks what I think before doing anything drastic but gives me appropriate feedback, too. His styling skills are second to none! I can come in with damaged, frizzy hair and I walk out with silk. He whipped my hair back into shape after a couple of years when I was unable to see him due to my crazy schedule. I am so happy he did! He also very easily fixed my haircut after the previous saloon (where I will never go back again.) The ombre he did is just the best I actually ever had and he took all my considerations and did coloring that was perfect for what I was going for. So I went to Rua based off the reviews left on yelp and I was not disappointed. Initially attracted to the photos posted of clients with unnatural hair colors I went in hoping they would do the same job for me. Bella, my stylist was super personable and extremely accommodating and did a lovely job taking my hair from about three different colors to a lovely silver grey with purple tones. I was at the salon for approximately seven hours because of the amount of hair I have and never once did I get the feeling that she was bored with me or exhausted. My schedule is super ridic crazy and I never know when I have time for a haircut. As such, I generally only get about 2 haircuts a year. I randomly called the salon on a Tuesday and was lucky enough to get an appointment for the following hour. Luckily I got Damon as my stylist. I explained to him what I was looking for, and he weighed in with some advice and we agreed on a cut. I proceeded to read a magazine (something I rarely get to do) and after about 40 minutes looked up, and discovered he had done a really good job. Not only did I get a hair cut, but he shaped my hair. It instantly looked and felt better. I *always* hate haircuts at first but with Damon, I really felt like my hair looked good after the first wash. It had been a while since I had gotten a proper hair cut in a salon. I'm always apprehensive about someone touching my hair; I have a wonky curly/wavy thick mess on my head, and a bad hair cut can make it a nightmare to tame in the mornings. had a great time here at the salon! my only concern is is that the stylists are very open about not caring about the pandemic and not being vaccinated. the one stylist who worked with me was so kind, but she admitted to me that her mask was literally a piece of jewelry and didn't follow the guidelines. the other stylists there complained very loudly about the vaccine mandate. i had a great time but there needs to be a conversation had about what's appropriate to tell your customer during a pandemic that's killed over a million people read more

I have been constantly on the search for a salon where I can get a decently priced cut and color - yes I understand that hair can get pricey, but I'm not asking for highlights, lowlights, or balayage. One of my friends recommended Tiana Pavlovich at Rua Salon and I LOVED her. She is the first, literally the very first, stylist who recommended we just do my roots. EVERY other stylist dyes my whole head and I pay for it. I was kinda nervous about how coloring the roots would blend in, but it's absolutely seamless. I'm very happy with finding her and this salon. Kaley is very precise with her hair coloring. She turned my hair from a whiter, ashy brown/blonde...to a really beautiful dark golden blonde. As a long-time client and fan of Erika, recently of Carlton Hair Sherman Oaks, now taking care of me at Rua, I'm really excited about the step up from Carlton to Rua! Rua is a little easier to get to, since it's right on Ventura, it's also a little bigger, and it's very cool that it's totally full service, unlike the various Carlton locations she's worked at in the past. Since she was a top performer there, I'd met a lot of great stylists through the salon... It's funny, actually, ALL my favorite Carlton people- Mario, Felipe, Mariam, Stephanie, Jackie, Cat and Erika, are all at Rua now. So if you're wondering where your favorite stylist went from Burbank or SO or Topanga, consider the case solved! That stylist is probs at Rua these days. As per usu, Erika does a great job on my hair! We had a long conversation about my upcoming move during this last visit, including some jokes about the questions I should ask my next stylist... Q: I want my hair black for Halloween, but red again for my wedding in March. What do you do??? What do YOU DOOOOOOO??? Erika's answer: Color-correct by January, leaving two or three root touch ups prior to the big day. Also, congrats. Honestly, she's so funny and fun to be around that even if she wasn't as good at my hair whims as she is, I'd probably still want to see her every 4-6 weeks. She's one of the very few things about Los Angeles that I will truly miss when I leave!!!* *if you're reading this after August 2014, you can probably score my monthly appointment time with Erika, since I'll be 3,000 miles away asking ridiculous questions to a hair dresser who probably wasn't prepared for me. read more

Run, do not walk away from this salon. I went here based off their yelp reviews/pictures and I got my hair colored and cut. I went in asking for them to refresh my color that I already had, and I also wanted some long layers to give my hair some texture. When I left I was so pleased because they had curled my hair, the color looked nice..cool awesome. Unfortunately I was wrong. After my first wash (when I finally saw my hair straight) I realized how much they had actually botched my hair. The "long layers" I received look as though my stylist separated my hair in half, and then cut a bob into the top portion of my hair and left the underside long. It was horrible! I was freaking out and sobbing not just because it's taken me forever to grow my hair that long, but also because I own my business and model (bookings are largely based on my look/style/hair) and after sending them pictures post shower I was dropped from multiple shoots and campaigns. LUCKILY I was able to find another salon who was able to fix what RUA did to my hair (I spent a solid 6+ hrs having them redo the damage that was done) and they did a fantastic job. But to get my hair to look normal again (without actually giving me a bob) they had to put in a crap ton of extensions and then blend in layers to fix what RUA did. I've reached out to Rua via email a multitude of times for a refund (because the quality that I got was nothing like the pictures that are on their website or here), and have yet to be given a refund (although they did invite me back almost 2 weeks later to have my cut "assessed" and fixed by their "hair stylists".....no thanks..the last time they assessed and cut my hair they completely ruined it so NOPE!) Still waiting to hear back on what the status of my refund is.. To add insult to injury the original stylist who did this to my hair posts a picture of the haircut I'm currently trying to receive a refund for, and tags me in it...so now my clients are again confused as to what my hair looks like now, and I had to take MORE time out of my day to explain to them that I don't know why they are posting these old pictures as my hair no longer looks this way. Just a heads up Rua, posting a picture of me without my permission or a model release is a biggggg no-no, and also rather confusing as I've been nothing but up front about how much I hate the style. I digress. I'm attaching pictures of my hair, which I would never post publicly but I'm hoping to save someone else from the nightmare I had to go through. read more

I found Rua Salon on Yelp, and was delighted with my first phone call with the super sweet James who booked me in with the equally sweet Leslie. Leslie listened to what I wanted and gave me a super cute, easy to maintain (huge plus!), cut and style. She was also a delight to be around, and I could feel the love and attention she puts into her work. She had awesome dirty blonde styled hair which confirmed I'd be in good hands. I made a reservation over the phone just the day before my appointment during Thanksgiving season--swift and easy. The ambiance of the salon is absolutely stunning. Flushed white, clean walls with music sounding like it came directly from my iTunes library. You definitely get not only great work done on your hair but also a great experience overall. Caitlyn was so friendly and easy to talk to during the entire process (which took exactly 4 hours). She made sure that we were both on the same page and didn't hesitate to ask me questions before completing each task. Just by observing her work on my hair, you could tell that she was a master of her art. I have never seen someone so meticulous with my hair, dying each part with her utmost care and perfection. She also gave me advice on how to style my hair and made sure that she revamped my look for the better. I came out of Rua Salon looking like a million bucks. I don't usually spurt out compliments when it comes to hair stylists in that I've never really had a great experience after coming out of a salon. But wow, Caitlyn knew what sort of style complimented my face and even my personality!
