Went for lunch. The food was outstanding! The service was incredibly efficient and courteous. They have an All-You-Can-Eat lunch buffet during the week, but not on weekends. The atmosphere is so serene and laid back. Quiet, easy to talk, even have an intimate conversation. They have the best sushi in the business in my opinion. And they used to have $1 sushi rolls. 3 pieces for $1. But now they're $2.75. Their sake is wonderful. Plum is my favorite! It comes out warm! The food comes out in a timely manner. This review is based on two similar experiences. I cannot comment on the food, because I never got it! We have tried to eat here twice, both times months apart. We walk in, no one greets us. Tables have people seated, none of them have good. We wait. Nothing. No, "I'll be right with you" Nothing. Just standing in the entrance. I don't knowcif this is a staffing issue or what. I've came here several times in the past two years and every single time it's been my favorite restaurant in Rome. I always get the chicken hibachi dinner and I love that you get a soup and a salad. The rice and chicken are so so yummy and I love the sauce they give you with it. Their ginger salad and miso soup are both perfect appetizers too. My boyfriend will get various sushi meals and every time he loves it. The food portions are also large and well priced. The service is also great every time and fast. I also love the decor and especially the lighting and the music they play. I do wish they had the outdoor seating area open. My son and I have been going here on and off for several years. Steady decline. Will not be back. My last dish was swimming in the juice/broth concoction. Scooped a cup and a half with my soup spoon into my soup bowl. Also, do not go when it first opens if the guy with the hat turned backwards is the only server (think it is the owner). Went last Sunday. First time in my long life eating out thousands of times all over the world where I was seated, ordered, ate, got the check paid, and my server did not utter one word; however, he had the best stare down and scowl I have ever witnessed. The customer service is extremely bad, especially if you order pick up. An older Hispanic male, who I believe is the manager, has twice been VERY RUDE and dismissive to me when I picked up my order. My food, essentially raw fish, was just left by the front door on a table with no concern for food safety. I came in to pick it up but, even though it wasn't busy, nobody came to serve me. I saw my name on the receipt, had pre-paid so I took my food and left. I went back in to get chopsticks and was treated VERY rudely and dismissively by that man. He essentially chewed me out and walked away. I will NEVER spend my hard-earned money at Ru Sans again and would never recommend it to anyone else. Blue Fin Sushi and Rock n Roll Sushi are much, much friendlier with excellent customer service and clean restaurants. Ru Sans looks grimy and rundown. My husband and I ate here for the first time and tried the lunch buffet. I'd heard positive things about it from a few people so we had to try it out. First, the sushi. If you are someone who LOVES sushi and can consume huge quantities of it, you need to come here. They have about 50 varieties on the lunch buffet and you can have as much as you want. Compared to other buffets, the pieces were much smaller, but that just allows you to try many different kinds. And if you don't like something, you don't feel guilty having wasted a big piece. All the items on the buffet are labeled, but when the sushi has a zillion different names, it isn't much help in guiding you to things you'd like or avoiding those you don't. I think I like Blue Fin's sushi a bit better, but you can't beat the quantity for the price at Rusan's. In addition to all the sushi, there were eight chafing dishes with hot options, too. A few are fried rice, yakisoba noodles, chicken teriyaki, goyza as well as soup. My favorite was the fried calamari - perfectly crispy outside, yet super tender, not at all rubbery, on the inside. Other than the calamari, nothing was great, but everything was OK. There is also a small cold section with salad, ginger dressing, fresh fruits and desserts. The pineapple was perfect! We arrived at about 1:45 and the buffet ends at 2:30. That doesn't mean they stop charging you for the buffet but you can still eat. It means at 2:30 they start putting all the food away. With our later arrival times, many of the hot dishes were gone when we arrived and never replenished. So my advice is to get there early! read more

Ru-San's is questionably the best sushi place in Northwest Georgia (from a girl obsessed with trying sushi). I daresay (for the value) it is better than Sushi Nabe in Chattanooga, TN as well. The food is, not only beautiful, but wonderfully flavored. The menu is quite large, and one can spend hours deciding on which roll to eat...or whether to have sashimi. I, personally, have become a huge sashimi fan since dining here! Tom, the head sushi chef, is also really awesome at making custom dishes for me when I can't make up my mind! I have seen a few negative comments about the service at Ru-San's in the past, but my friends and I have never had a problem--and we have been dining here for quite some time now. I'm unsure if it was a server from years ago that caused all of the ruckus, but the current wait staff and sushi chefs are very polite and accommodating.' Went here recently for the first time and was not impressed. Side note: I did not order sushi, but I ordered a hibachi chicken dish. It came with a miso soup, a salad with ginger dressing, and the main dish. To be quite honest, none of it tasted good at all. The soup was murky and tasted nothing like any miso soup I've had, the salad had the worst aftertaste I've ever tasted on a salad, and the main dish did not taste good at all. The dish was also able to feed like 3 people which is insane. Just charge less and give a smaller portion. They also only give you a little cup of shrimp sauce and charge extra for each cup. I've never seen a restaurant charge $1 per cup of shrimp sauce. The cup wasn't even enough to use on the whole dish. Service was decent. Nothing to brag about, but not bad. Next time I'll go to blue fin if I want a hibachi dish cause this was not good at all. read more

It was really tempting for me to leave one star, but I try to reserve one star reviews for places where the experience is truly awful. Here, my experience was simply "not good." The menu is a bit misleading. Be warned that if you order something containing "crab," it is actually imitation crab meat. The food isn't bad, especially for Rome, GA, but I definitely wouldn't rank it as truly great sushi by any stretch of the imagination. I don't really consider Blue Fin to be that spectacular either, but given my druthers, I'd hit up Blue Fin rather than Ru San's any day. So what led me to Ru San's tonight? I'm a Berry student, and Ru San's has a special with us - "10% off bill, $10 minimum purchase." The way I read that - the way I think EVERYONE IN THE WORLD would read that - is that if your table spends at least $10, the restaurant will take 10% off the bill, as long as someone has a Berry ID. Our server was genuinely friendly and attentive, and that's been my general experience at this Ru San's (this was the first time I asked to use the deal.) My water was soapy and my friend's fried rice was bland and greasy, and we were both underwhelmed with our sushi rolls. Still, we're fairly easy-going and we were hungry, so no problem. The mood shifted when we informed the server we were Berry students. A few minutes later she came back and said we would only receive $10 off part of the order - my friend's order totaled more than $10, but mine was only $9.95. Now, we were on the SAME CHECK, mind you, but apparently Ru San's gives the discount on an individual basis, not a table basis. A manager who stopped by - I guess after the server told her we weren't happy - volunteered that several other customers have complained about the same thing, so they're changing the language on the offer. I've been going to RuSans since 2015. In the beginning, my best friend and I went every Sunday for lunch. We were always pleased with the food and the service. For the past couple of years, we have had more bad experiences than good. The food is very inconsistent. Her plate would have tons of meat and it was very juicy and mine would have very little meat and it would almost be uneatable because of it being over cooked, or vice versa. Our most recent visit today was absolutely ridiculous. The sushi was great, but the hibachi was so over cooked you couldn't eat it. The food was the least of our worries though. The service was absolutely the worst I've ever had at any restaurant in my life. It was lunch time and the restaurant was packed so we were understanding with slower service. BUT after we ate, we asked for the tickets and paid and the waitress did not bring change. As a waitress for years, we were taught you always bring your customer change unless the customer specifically says keep it. The girl that took our payment wasn't even our waitress so we asked for change to ensure our waitress received her money. When we asked for change, the girl immediately started giving us attitude. She finally brought the change back and proceeded to be extremely rude. As we were walking out, she yelled "bye b**ch* across the restaurant at us in front of all her other customers. I was absolutely mind blown. Words were exchanged stating that she wasn't even our waitress so she shouldn't have kept our change and she then said "get the f**k out of my face". I have NEVER seen so much disrespect in a restaurant as a customer or a waitress. It's safe to say RuSans has lost a few very faithful customers. Hopefully management sees this and addresses the issues. I miss the old RuSans crew. read more

If you want Sushi or any Japanese style dish you need to come to Ru Sans. I personally believe it is the best in town. It always has a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere that can really calm you down on a stressful day. The owner always has a high food sanitary score. If you pay attention to the food score you would have seen that Ru Sans if by far superior to Blue Fin. Ru Sans also never freezes any of its fish or sushi ingredients so you will always know it is fresh. The prices here are very respectable in relation to the average price of similar restaurants. The owner makes many unique and tasty dishes that will make you keep coming back for more without draining your wallet! Even if you don't like sushi, keep an open mind and try California rolls (rice, crab, avacado) with a side of shrimp sauce or spicy aoila sauce if you like spicy. You can slowly work your way up to other tasty seafood sushi like tunas, salmon, seabass, etc. In reference to the bad service reviews, the owner has been proactive in chosing better waitresses that are much more customer friendly than the past waitresses. I've eaten here a few times, and will continue. I have eaten at all but 3 Ru San's locations - it is by far my favorite sushi restaurant! I've never had a problem with the service at this location. It isn't spectacular but no real problems, either. The quality of the fish has always been top-notch! Fresh, tasty, and definitely sushi grade. The only real problems I have found with the food is inconsistency in the amount of wasabi used and sugar used. You can get a real awful acrid mouthful of wasabi on one piece and on the same plate another piece is fine. Same with the sugar in the rice- most pieces do not seem to be sugared but then a few pieces are just sickly sweet and that's really a gross taste, sugary fish! So I'm a vegetarian and still enjoy vegetarian sushi, so I'm here with my boyfriend order my usual. My sushi came out which is the Vegetable Futo Maki, my boyfriend got the Rising Dragon. His roll has fish eggs on the outside which is right, but my roll is not and it had little fish eggs all over. Which is health code violation, if it's a vegetarian meal it shouldn't have anything out that sort on it. I asked my waitress to fix and she said she would fix it.
