They exceeded my expectations. I ended up walking normally without pain and walking as much as I wanted and I could have walked even more than I did. Their work did not stop with walking. I casually mentioned to them that I did not have full range of motion in my shoulders because of adhesive capsulitis. Other PT groups, I told them, had said they had done all they could. When I mentioned this to Dr. Huang, with whom I was working at the time, she said she could do more. After sessions with her, she gave me a long pole to lift up and back, something I found impossible for years. This time I lifted my arms straight up and, as I lay on the bed, I held the pole all the way and flat on the bed above my head. I now stand straight, taller, and with more flexibility than ever. I have been fortunate to work with both Dr. Lin and Dr. Huang. They are kind and caring individuals and their office staff is a delight to work with. Dr. Lin's and Dr. Huang's methods are challenging. After my sessions with them that consisted of forty-five minutes of hell, however, I walked out of their office feeling as if I were 17 years old. Before my first session I intended to just give it a try one time to see how it went. I felt unbelievably better and did not stop coming back. Some people are surprised by their therapy session costs. I am surprised and gratified by their therapy session results. To walk as I walk now, to stand as I stand now, and - one other thing: I have been a type 1 diabetic for more than fifty years and my insulin needs after working with Dr. Lin and Dr. Huang have significantly decreased. I finally get the hype! Dr. Erikson is SUPER knowledgeable and I literally felt and saw immediate results which was shocking. She told me Dr. Kaplan could see me at the end of that day. I had no idea who Dr. Kaplan was, but I really lucked out getting put with him. Not only is he a great doctor and surgeon, but one of the nicest and most personable people you will ever meet. He explains everything and will take all the time you need to answer questions. After our first meeting, I felt totally comfortable and confident that he was the right doctor for me. The other two superstars are his scheduler/assistant Lorraine Castro, and his medical secretary Paula Woods. Lorraine is a sweetheart and took really good care of me at all of my appointments (and I had a lot!). She made sure everything ran smoothly and took care of all my needs without a hitch. Paula booked all my appointments and handled an enormous amount of paperwork I had to pass to her for disability insurance, sickness benefits, ect. She took care of all of it quickly and completely, which is important when you need that disability money to live on. That office told me I was fine, gave me a boot and told me to walk on my ankle. I couldn't put any pressure at all on that leg so I got a second opinion. That doctor said I needed surgery but didn't give any explanation and I felt very pressured and rushed without questions answered. Dr. Kaplan was my third specialist. He was very professional, showed me measurements of how large my break was on X-rays and showed and explained my break was past the point of not needing surgery. We scheduled the surgery and to say I was terrified would be an understatement. The morning of surgery everyone on staff was beyond amazing and he too made me relaxed. He was very transparent and said it would take 9-12 months to be able to run again. I was very aggressive with physical therapy (obeying doctor orders of course and not being unsafe for recovery) and I was back to running in 3 months! I know that is not a normal recovery (he was very happily surprised). I feel I had the best care and best surgeon. I am forever grateful for Dr. Kaplan. Hopefully I never have another fall but if I do and I require a specialist such as Dr.Kaplan there is no other doctor I will see. The staff offered me the choice of a same-day appointment or one the following day. I chose the next day, and the scheduling process was incredibly easy and convenient. From the moment I arrived, everyone was welcoming and professional. Check-in was quick, and I was called back to the exam room within minutes. Shortly after, Dr. Yang came in, which I really appreciated because I wasn't left waiting like I have been at many other medical offices. Dr. Yang took the time to explain my options for treating my pinky toe. He explained the difference between removing the ingrown portion of the nail, which would eventually grow back, and performing a permanent procedure that involved numbing my toe, removing the nail, and applying acid to prevent it from growing back. He made sure I understood everything before moving forward. What impressed me the most was that I didn't expect the procedure to be done that same day. Based on my past experiences with other doctors, I assumed I would only be evaluated and then have to schedule another appointment for the actual procedure. Instead, Dr. Yang was able to take care of everything during my visit. I really appreciated not having to come back for a second appointment, which saved me both time and the cost of another copay. A few weeks later after he removed the cast there was infection and an open wound which he had to again close. The would healed eventually but was literally stuck to the tendons he repaired! I inquired about PT he said no and 25 years later my foot cramps frequently as the muscles cannot flex fully do to tendons stuck to the skin. I'm shocked he is still a practicing surgeon every time I have a foot cramp I curse his name.

The patient clearly has severe arthritis of the basal joint of the thumb which has progressed over the years. The patient did have some benefits from steroid injections and therapy in the past, but can no longer get relief. The symptoms interfere with activities of daily living. The treating physician recommends surgery after years of conservative treatment. Dr. Dinwoodie denied basal joint reconstruction stating, "the guidelines do not support surgery unless there is sufficient bone support and intact or reconstructable extensor and flexor tendons." There is NO scientific literature or guidelines to support this claim. The patient will be denied surgery and suffer due to Dr. Dinwoodie's false claims and misleading interpretation of the scientific and clinical literature.
