He gave his word face-to-face. However, after I moved out, they kept the entire deposit. They sent fake invoices from third-party companies or performed so-called "repairs" to improve the property for the owner so it could be rented later at a higher price. I wish I had checked reviews earlier -- if I had known about their reputation, I would have never signed a contract with them. That's why I want to warn everyone who reads this: do not rent from this company under any circumstances. Find a different property management company and avoid being scammed. To everyone who has already been cheated by them -- don't give up. Go to court, file a legal claim, and make them pay for what they've done. If all the people they've deceived take legal action, this fraudulent company will be shut down once and for all. That's why I urge everyone who was scammed -- take them to court.

If I didn't have any knowledge of my rights and the law, Catalyst would've gotten away with trying to absolutely screw me over for absolutely no reason! Upon move in, the property was dirty and things were falling apart, at the time there weren't many other options so we settled on renting here. We left the place in better condition than when we found it because we wanted the entirety of our deposit back. Upon following the "move out checklist" to the highest degree, Catalyst did everything they could to illegally keep our entire deposit. It took me reciting law after law, providing photo proof from move in vs move out, for them to finally send a (very small) portion of our deposit back. Because it was 30 days after they received our forwarding address and we vacated the property, and we hadn't heard anything from them, they were no longer entitled to ANY portion of my deposit, yet were making up things to throw on an "itemized" bill in hopes that they could keep our money. Which is simply unlawful. Luckily, I had substantial proof of all of my claims including the damage upon move in, receipts of repairs that had been done, receipts from our cleaner, and a complete walkthrough of the place upon move out. They tried reciting bogus laws back to me that didn't apply to this situation, trying to scare me out of pursing legal action. After weeks of back and fourth emails with someone who clearly has no knowledge of that color shirt they are wearing, they agreed to send me the rest of my deposit that they were illegally withholding. This place gets away with screwing over young people because they often times do not know their rights. Do yourself a favor, educate yourself. Document EVERYTHING. Do not let these bozos walk all over you.

THEY CLOSED THE OFFICE 20 MIN EARLY!! (I KNOW, WTF) - especially after calling earlier that day to make sure they'd be open till 6 cuz i'd be cutting it close and knew the USU/BYU game would make hella traffic! Anyways! - we called the next morning (Saturday morning) asking if we needed to come in to sign. (We were already moved out.. and ACTUALLY HOMELESS! (Had to fix the furnace and stuff in the house we bought to make it live-able) so we were crashing on our in-law's couch for that week. But yeah they said to not worry about making a trip over just to sign and to come when we were in town, which wasn't till ~2 weeks later. When we made it over to sign we were going to back-date, but they told us not to and that it was fine that we just use the actual date. We paid off our total balance too. So yeah then a month later when we were expecting to get our deposit back we call to give them our new mailing address and they HAVE NO RECORD OF US MOVING OUT!? WTF!?!?!?!!! So long story short - don't make the same mistake we did at trusting these manipulative, sneaky, lying, deceiptful people!! We're STILL trying to figure out how to resolve this! And it's been 3 months!! GRRR!!!

The…read moremanagement is extremely unprofessional and, in my experience, seems to lack even the basic organization needed to properly manage an apartment community. From the beginning, there were issues with parking assignments and keys, and at one point they even lost the main key to my apartment--which raises serious concerns about safety and security. Unfortunately, these were not isolated incidents. Once the lease was signed, it seemed that follow-through and communication became nonexistent. To be clear, this is not a review from a bitter resident who failed to pay rent. I fulfilled my responsibilities as a resident, yet the management consistently failed to fulfill theirs. I strongly recommend that the management team receive proper training on professionalism, organization, communication, and basic business practices. Residents deserve to feel that their home and security are being handled by competent professionals. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this community.

They immediately demanded an extra month's rent because they didn't give me a form that is not publicly available when I gave notice, and then proceeded to begin threats of lawsuits and the amount that they were demanding more than doubled. I talked to the apartment people some more, and then talked to the owners, Mountain States Property Management, who own the complex. All they did was send be back to the debt collectors whose demands constantly ballooned to even more outrageous sums, and I'm faced with paying over $2500 in fees or facing litigation and ruined credit. I can only assume that they became so vengeful because they didn't like me complaining about the neighbors behavior, as I always paid my rent on time and left the unit in good condition. Don't stay at any of their properties. They will do it to you.
