Service was fantastic the whole time. We were never left wanting for anything, and drinks and food came out at a perfect pace. We started off with drinks and the dill cheese curds appetizer. I was very happy that they had four ciders available, and I went with the pear choice, which turned out to be Magner's. The curds were fantastic, with loads of dill in the crisp breading. The curds had a perfect pull and squeak. My kid had the fettucine alfredo and rated it as "very good." (He also enjoyed the leftovers the next day). My husband had the smothered ribeye sandwich and requested no mushrooms. He had fries on the side. He said this is one of the best ribeye sandwiches he's ever had. I had the fish tacos, and wow, they were delicious. It included two tacos, and each one had two massive, very hot fish nuggets. The lettuce and tomatoes were fresh. I had my choice of side and went with coleslaw, which was good. Note that this is a brewery, but they had none of their beers available during our visit because they had just transferred to new ownership. Based on our experience, we definitely need to return when they have their own beers on tap again and then we can try more of their food, too!

Lots of memorabilia from long defunct breweries. My Bloody Mary was excellent as were my fish tacos. There are multiple options for pescatarians though probably a bit more challenging for vegans, which is not unusual in this part of the world. While we visited their onsite brewing was on hiatus because they need to be re-licensed after the ownership change. Looking forward to that happening!

For a little over two years now (2018) there has been a new chef in Elba. He is the son of the…read moreowner, a recent graduate from an Oregon culinary school and an absolute expert chef. I've visited the Elba House many times over the past 30 years and had come to rely on a better than average meal. Now however you can expect an expertly prepared five star meal that simply can not be beat. It is every bit as good as the old Hot Fish Shop in Winona was. I took my parents there over Thanksgiving 2018, mom had scallops, dad had shrimp and I had the most beautiful piece of batter fried Walleye you can imagine. All the food came at the same time and could not have been prepared better. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked. I remembered seeing a sign on the door saying happy hour M-F, so I took my parents there again, only to learn they're closed on Monday. Being that I needed a Walleye fix, we drove out to Orinoco's Fisherman's Inn. What a sad disappointment! Not only did it cost more, but instead of one large piece of fresh Walleye expertly cooked, they had sliced an old piece in two lengthwise and then over cooked it! Their shrimp special was an obvious attempt to get rid of their old shrimp. I almost told them to trot on down to the Elba House for cooking lessons and tips about procuring fresh fish.
