Please stay away from Roy's. We pre-planned a move of about 17 miles 2 wks ago. They were supposed to be at our house at 8 a.m. Guess what? They never showed up... and we have yet to hear a word of apology from anyone. Needless to say.... we had to find another to move us the same day. I used Roy's when I moved into my home in 2014. The lady on the phone was very kind and helpful. The movers are very professional and handled my belongings with care. They arrived when they said they would and was very helpful in placing the belongings in the right rooms. Anytime I move in the future they are the only company I am calling.. We used Roy's in January to load our household contents and again in February to unpack our contents. We hired them for their experience with packing since they've been in business for years. To our surprise when our furniture was unpacked a lot of items were scratched up and some were even chipped. We had purchased between $300-$400 worth of moving blankets for them to use, so we are guessing things just weren't packed well enough for the 15 mile move! Would we recommend them? Absolutely not, if you care about the condition your furniture will arrive in. read more

I used this moving company to move me from one residence to another here in Johnson City on Friday, June 14th. I had called for an estimate about a month before and was told by Ron, the manager, that the move would cost me about $500.00 after detailing to him all that needed to be moved. I also got a quote from Gentry Moving Company in Elizabethton that was also for about $500.00, but decided to go with this company since I had used it many times before. I had requested two men for the move because I have found in the past that the more men involved the less efficiently they work, and had done all the packing myself. When the men came there were three of them, but was assured that the cost would be less with 3 men rather than two men, but the move would take about 10 hours at a cost of $115.00 per hour, which was over twice as much as Ron had told me. I had just closed on my new residence two days before and needed to move in order to put my house up for sale so I did not argue with him, as I needed to move. Overall, the men were careful and not hard to deal with, but they chipped off a piece of brick from my house's front porch when moving my refrigerator, and also scratched the door frame and hardwood floor in my new residence at the entrance to the kitchen when removing the other refrigerator I was swapping out. I was told all these damages would be repaired, but they were not. I tried all the following week to talk to Ron, leaving messages on the voice mail and with the secretary who told me he would call me back, but he never did. I feel I was overcharged by at least $500.00 and I resent not having my phone calls returned nor having repairs to the damages incurred during the move. In the past when I used this company any repairs were done promptly and there was no communication issue. read more

So, Roy's Moving Service came highly recommended by friend. Almost 2 months ago we hired them to move us as we were moving houses. They showed up on time and all went well except there was some damage done to a leather couch and a bed. Roy's agreed to come back and fix these things. In the meantime, we were going to give away our master bedroom bed and nightstands to our son who lives outside of Nashville. I mentioned to Roy's that that bed was going to be picked up by our son. They offered to actually take that bed to Nashville and deliver it to our son for cheaper than he was going to pay to rent a U-Haul to come pick it up. They told us that they go to Nashville at least every two weeks and that they would be happy to keep the bed and the nightstands in their storage unit until they headed toward Nashville. Two weeks went by and I heard nothing from them. I called and they told me it would be another two weeks. I called back 2 weeks later and they told me it would be another two weeks. I explained to them that our son was waiting for the bed to be delivered and that maybe we should just come pick it up, and that's when they scheduled an actual date and time to deliver the bed. They even offered to deliver it for free in exchange for not fixing the damage that was done to our other Furniture. We agreed that that would be a good deal.My son took off work that morning and waited for the bed to arrive. They told him that they would be there between 7:30 and 8 a.m. By 11 he had heard nothing from them even though he had called them the day before to confirm. When he called to find out where the bed was, the secretary told him that she had no idea and could not find out who the driver was that was supposed to deliver it. We have been on the phone with them throughout the day and no one seems to know where our bed is. I have had to call the police and it looks like I will have to file a report on stolen furniture. It's unbelievable to me that a company that used to have such a good reputation would be so dishonest. read more

I set up an appointment with 3 movers for 2 hrs for Saturday June 23rd. On the day of my move only 2 movers were there. I called the office and was told by Felicia the owner would call me back. I have yet received a call from this company. So instead of my 2 hours I booked for my storage unit that was only half full, it took a total of 3 hours and I live 2 miles from the storage unit. The workers were hard workers I will give them their credit. However management should hold their end and call customers back. So for 2 workers I had to sign a paper for 80 an hour when I should have had 3 workers for 95. It's only a $50 increase which I needed to be moved and what was I going to say stop. I will say I will not recommend this company. If $50 is worth recommendations then take the money. I was also told when I booked this appointment that they will put beds together and washers and dryers that is not the case. Look elsewhere if you want good customer service. I will not recommend this company. read more
