For 5 hours we bopped on and off the bus to 5 different wineries throughout the Dundee area. Mitch collected our purchases and returned them on our way back to Portland. So nice not to carry bottles with us all day. Every 20 minutes or so a bus would appear. We were never in a rush, nor did we ever wait very long. We visited wineries I've never heard of before and they were AMAZING. How would I have ever known about them otherwise?!? White Rose was our favorite. Such a cool space and amazing Pinots. He was very attentive and wanted to get a vibe for what the group (6 women) wanted and enjoys in life - all so HE could plan 2 amazing days at wineries in the greater Portland area. After the chat, we netted out on two full days (8 hrs each day. We survived by the way.) in June. He picked us up right at our Airbnb (Pearl) in a comfortable van with lots of room and already had the jams playing (his 90s/00s playlist is ON POINT). For the first day, we went out to the Mt. Hood area which was beyond beautiful (don't think I've ever seen a winery with a majestic mountain as a back drop). I highly recommend this route as it has more of a mom & pop feeling than other major wine areas I've visited (especially if you can do multiple days in this region). You also get a wider range of varietals vs. Willamette (not knocking W.V. AT ALL as I'm a Pinot Noir gal). Cedric completely planned the entire day and we hit up 4 different wineries and none disappointed. He also grabbed us lunch which was fantastic. The drive is beautiful along the Colombia River. Dropped off at our place in the Pearl. Day 2 (the following day) we hit up the famous Willamette Valley. We had a couple last minute requests (in terms of must-have wineries) that Cedric completely accommodated and he re-routed our day to ensure we hit the best of the best. He worked his magic and we were able to visit FIVE (!), including the last stop where we chatted with the owner/winemaker while playing bocce ball (Utopia wines). It was a fantastic day. We visited some big players like Domaine Serene (YES) and Stoller (great for a picnic lunch), but also some smaller but beautiful wineries like Colene Clemens (top of hill overlooking valley) and Vista Hills (think tree house vibes). Cedric promised a magical day and he delivered. This was by far my favorite wine tour experience and I've done a lot of them across the country/world. Cedric was the difference maker. He's a fantastic and hilarious host and truly makes the experience one to remember. His company has other drivers as well and I imagine they are of the same breed as Mr. Cedric, so no matter who you get, you won't be disappointed!!

This property is off the beaten path, but well signed and you have to know in advance that this location is at the end of Dick Road (so keep going). I had looked it up on the map and noticed that fact so I knew that at the end of the road there would be the vineyard. We pulled up to a house but it had various golf carts and other implements around so it appeared that no one resided there. The sign on the front door said join us outside on the patio just down the stairs. So, we followed down the stairs (I'm not sure what you do if you cannot do stairs--it looks like you maybe able to pull around on another side but I'm not clear on that) I would probably call first if I had any kind of mobility issues. We walked a little ways and saw a lighted room and so we went inside. Turns out this is the bathroom and not where they were wine tasting. We kept walking through the patio and there was no one in site. Finally, we spotted a large tent that was put up and the tasting area was set up there. We walked in and were casually greeted by a young girl who proceeded to tell us what they were out of and wanted to know if we wanted to taste a wine. I said that we had a coupon for the lunch basket and she wanted the info off of that and she would go and make it up. She then took off to go do that leaving us huddled on some damp chairs under the tent with another couple. It was about 48 degrees under the tent and they had heaters for the outdoors but they weren't lit. The YS and I were beginning to think we should get the food to go and forget the wine. Then the owner Melinda came out and asked if we wanted to taste a wine and proceeded to tell us a bit about them and we decided to split a tasting. She told us about how their vineyard as well as their farm acreage (they have about 70 acres). While we were talking the girl brought out the food and set it down not saying anything to anyone. I later asked Melinda if that was for us and she said yes. Melinda also quickly lit the heaters when she got out there she said that her helper (the girl from earlier) didn't know how to do it. I think the girl needs some training as she's doing a great business a real disservice. We ended up eating our lunch which was very tasty and bought a bottle of wine to enjoy with our lunch as well as two bottles to take home. I will say that our first impression was not a great one based on the girl and her demeanor we were going to eat and leave. Melinda is very friendly and customer service oriented. I will definitely be back again. If we didn't have two wine club memberships already we would have joined theirs as they have fun events with the wine pick ups as well as other events open to the general public. Beautiful setting, I would highly recommend.

My favorite out of the bunch was surprisingly the cab franc, even though we were in pinot country. Very green and vegetal tasting. It was a weird way to get to the bathroom which I had to walk around the building because the farmer was sleeping in the main room. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall a tasting was around $28. But the server never went thru the wines and explain the origin or the history of the wines. This was a negative as the winery we previously visited had an informative narrative as part of the presentation. There are so many wineries in the Willamette region, and we will continue to taste at many others. But I will not recommend Ardiri as one for new visitors to visit.
