    French Onion Soup
    Tom B.

The food was delicious . The service from Zina was great, very attentive and friendly. The ambiance was romantic at first, then turned noisy as the restaurant filled up. I highly recommend this restaurant. We ordered the French Onion Soup and the Eggs in nest (variation of Deviled Eggs). Duck Confit and Ea Bass were our entrees. Crème Brûlée and Crepe Susette for dessert. All were delicious and delightful.

    Onion soup, Caesar salad.

The food was great, service was prompt, and the employees were kind given our limited French. We would return, definitely!

the food and drinks were delicious!! Our server, Richard, took excellent care of us. Quiet street not far from Opera Garnier. Highly recommend!

    Best seat in the house!!

We stepped into Royal Vendome when the rain started. No reservation, but around 2 in the afternoon so we got a table. We had the truffle rigatoni, veg curry, and sausage with mashed. The food was only surpassed by the service! JB is great! We loved this place so much we went back for our last evening in Paris. This time, we tried beef, chicken, and fish dishes. And again, great food and excellent service. The space is inviting, low key, quiet, classic. Thanks for two lovely and memorable meals!!

Royal Vendome is the least expensive, most efficient cafe on the Right Bank, and certainly in the First Arrondissement.

Seeing that the reviews were excellent, we decided to give it a try. We were stunned with the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to help us even though we did not speak French. The food was outstanding beginning with the appetizer - French fries with bacon and cheese. Our mains were even better along with an outstanding bottle of wine picked with the help of our waiter. Poni was a Michelin star restaurant to us!

I was seated in the backroom which was all high tables and very quiet. Notre Pâté en croûte - This was great. A slice of bread with chunks of duck and other meat with pickled items on the side (which I always love!) and a little bit of lettuce. It is not like a spreadable paté. Capra (salade) - this was a large salad with three large fried goat cheese balls. I had to take much of it with me. It has a variety of ingredients which don't necessarily go together but you can mix and match with each bite. They have a QR code to their website for the English menu if you need. I was stopped at the door asking if I paid which was strange because the tables in my section all have QR codes on them to pay before leaving. Do Parisians not use these? Next time: I'll sit upstairs and try some other dishes.

The food was served tapas style, and they have deals such as getting 5 (or 10!) plates at a discounted price. We ordered 5 for the two of us, but the tapas here are much larger than they are in the states, so we were STUFFED and didn't even finish three fourths of it! Well worth the money. Because it is a more authentic place, most waiters didn't speak English. They were helpful to the best of their ability, and I would highly suggest giving them a try even if you're not overly confident in your French!

Unfortunately, it was past 10 pm so a lot of places were closed. We were getting frantic trying to find a restaurant that was still open. We finally pinged this place on GoogleMaps. I have to say, this place is the definition of a hidden gem. It's a small French tapas place off on a side street that unless you were really searching, you would probably walk by it in favor of larger restaurants. I don't know if our waiter was also the owner or the sommelier, but either way, his English was limited. Luckily, my fiancee's sister speaks French so she was able to translate the menu (to an extent). As such, this was a tapas restaurant so everything was small plates and meant to be shared. I don't remember the exact name of everything we ordered, but I remember a Pad Thai, a beef dish, smoked salmon, octopus, and a fried dish (maybe calamari, but I don't remember). The food is excellent and packed with flavor. You'd be surprised how filling these little dishes can be. If you ever come to Paris, I recommend going off the beaten path for this little piece of heaven.

Unfortunately, it was too early for the tartare as they only serve that during lunch/dinner hours. So we ordered an onion soup, a dozen snails, and a cheese plate. The onion soup was really good. The cheese was nice and melty and slightly charred in some spots. I shared this with my husband but I probably could have eaten two of these on my own. The snails were great as well. But I feel like 12 is a little too much for two people, but 6 wouldn't be enough. For the cheese plate, I don't remember what was on it but I remember not liking the harder cheeses and really liking the gorgonzola. I wish we found out about this place sooner so we could have tried a proper meal. If anyone gets a chance to try the beef tartare, let me know!
