We are So pleased with the outcome. We asked him to raise the fireplace box so its more visible from the dining space-we love the added hearth for added seating space. The flooring base is concrete and they needed to even out some cracks. Great attention to detail. Chuck was only a little irritated with me when I requested taking down the popcorn ceiling after they had installed the new fireplace. This is the 5th project we have had Chuck do inside and outside of our home. Thanks SO much!!

His "mitigation" consisted of spraying the…read moreareas affected by the sewer backup, removing the soaked carpet, and folding up the small rug that also got soaked. He did not do anything about either the closet that had had sewage flow into it or the shreds of toilet paper on the tile floor until they were pointed out to him. And after he wiped the tile floor, he used the same cloth to wipe off the door handles he had just sprayed with disinfectant. We talked to him about the need to move the furnace so he could clean behind and under it, but he told us that we would have to arrange for that ourselves. He didn't move anything else out of the furnace room or attempt to clean up the shredded toilet paper that was visible in the corners of the furnace room (see photo). We now have another company that appears to have the right idea about what needs to be done and how to do it.

We recently had a tree removed and I just knew our gutters were in dire need of cleaning. I did look at having a gutter guard of some type put in but the costs (cleaning was included) was significant. After I rec'd the quote from Gutter Maids I figured I could get this service done once a year for the next 12-15 years and still be ahead of the game. BTW, even with most gutter guard system it is still recommended to have your gutters cleaned every few years. I wasn't there when the crew arrived but my wife works from home and called me to complain about being distracted by men walking on our roof. So at least I know work was being done. When I got home everything was cleaned up and there was nothing out of place. I could see the first floor gutters from the upstairs windows and the job looked perfect. Everything from booking the appointment to paying the invoice couldn't be any easier. Good Job! Will definitely use them again.

I had an HVAC guy from a reliable referral whom was quick at what he did, but did not seem to go the extra mile. I saw a Groupon online and thought, what the heck, I need my AC Unit checked for the summer. I quickly set an appointment and that was that. During this time, my furnace stopped working. I called BZ on a Saturday morning expecting to get a voicemail only to have my call taken! Brad was empathetic and said he could move my appointment up so that could be taken care of. Brad did everything he said he would do on the Groupon and more! While my last HVAC guy never bothered to inspect why the hot/cold air distribution in the home was so uneven despite pleading with him to make it better, Brad found where the dampers were closed and jammed and worked hard to free them allowing for a more even flow! I seriously cannot emphasize how happy I am about this. Thanks a million Brad! You've exceeded my expectations and you certainly have earned the spot as my new HVAC rockstar! It's certainly nice to meet someone who enjoys taking pride in exceptional workmanship and service!

We had BZ's Comfort Air clean out our air ducts prior to purchasing our new home because Groupon…read moresaid it was on the up and up. They did a great job (initially). Communication was great. They even suggested recharging the air conditioning in our new home for a fee while they were at it, so we did of course. Like anything else, homes need maintenance and we found out our A/C went bad shortly after. Time for a new one. BZ's was there to help! Here's where things went bad...at the time of the AC install, Brad tells us that the rebate process can be a real pain in the butt. We kind of thought that was odd. Keep in mind we just paid them almost $3,000...this was August of 2016...at the time we didn't care about a rebate. We just wanted to have A/C in our new home. Didn't even think about it. No big deal. Well, a year has now passed. We still haven't received our rebate from Excel thanks to BZ's Comfort Air. We've probably called him 4x in the last 12 months. Not a single returned call. Excel Energy is holding our $400 rebate because Brad couldn't answer a simple question on the appropriate form. They won't allow another contractor to resolve the issue either. In the big picture it's not really about $400...it's about having integrity. If you're going to hire somebody...do you really want someone who's only going to return your calls when it benefits THEM? I'm not even sure I'd get a phone call returned if our air broke down at this point. If you're only looking for upfront work...I guess I would suggest using BZ's Comfort Air. If you're looking for follow up/maintenance work...I can't say I'd say the same. Haven't had a phone call returned since writing the $3,000 check. If that's what you're looking for then pursue at your own risk. Bush League Brad

I had the misfortune of a tree falling through my roof just before Thanksgiving 2016. My insurance…read moreagent highly recommended ProTech so I called them with confidence. I had tarped the roof and consulted with the project manager who advised emergency remediation, and they came quickly to "double-check" and reinforce my tarp work so that water would not pour in. So far so good. Given the Thanksgiving holiday, they were not able to begin work until a couple weeks out, and I was accommodating. Then in early December we had a snap of VERY cold weather, and ProTech advised it was too cold to work. Again, I was accommodating. Then it was the Christmas holidays... then it was New Years... then it was "too cold" again... Soon it was approaching March of 2017 and little progress had been made on repairing my roof. Contact with the project manager became more sporadic. Ultimately it was well into spring before work was underway, and then it was very slow. One day, they came and FINALLY undertook the work - though I was not at home and had little notice (which was fine enough). However, the project manager said there was more damage, roof trusses had to be replaced, etc. and increased the damage estimate substantially. I didn't have issue with this per se, but I asked the project manager to share pictures and a details list of the additional work so that I had this documentation for my records. I never received any of this information. While the bulk of the work was completed (the roofing and "truss repair") almost a YEAR LATER, the additional work to replace the rainspouts and fascia trim and finish painting went uncompleted for months. My project manager was MIA. Several months later, the finish tasks were "completed" but sloppily. When they painted, they had used the wrong colour paint. This was partly my fault, as I had left the leftover paint for them from the original homeowner; however, when they painted, then splashed broad swaths of the wrong colour paint on the siding - work that was not even part of the repair - and I couldn't fathom why they felt compelled to do this. Eventually we got the right colour paint and this part of the task was completed. But the rainspouts were replaced with substandard quality workmanship, and after a few conversations with the new project manager (apparently my original PM had been terminated for failing to keep up with projects), I felt so tired of dealing with them that I just wanted them gone. It had been over a year at this point. I received an invoice that included several hundred dollars for "debris removal", and I questioned this charge because I still have a pile of roofing and boards with nails sticking out on the side of my house. I wrote a letter to the project manager asking for an adjustment to the invoice in good faith. This request was not acknowledged and they happily charged the full amount for what I felt was substandard and incomplete work. I strongly recommended to my insurance company to never recommend them again (and they took them off of their providers list), and I will do the same to advise against ProTech to anyone who asks.

I thought about suing them when I found out I had a right to Aluminium siding but didn't at the time. The son, Grant, was personally involved with everything. He pointed out several safety hazards that would have been missed otherwise, and helped us find locks and doors that met our unusual needs. The dad, Gary, came over to double check that the workers did everything to his standards, and even made them double reinforce the ceiling mount just in case it got overloaded. I could not be more impressed with their integrity and high standards. Especially with the safety stuff where they could have cut corners and gotten away with it on the county's dime.
