After several days, Adrian and an assistant came to mow the lawns. It was a rainy day! They stopped after mowing just the front. He said he would be back early the next week to finish the job; that is, to mow the back yard. I paid for the front yard. Lots of clumps of wet grass left all over the front, but it was short enough / good enough that I could maintain it myself from there. A few weeks later, my back a little better, and a little work on my own had the front yard looking fine. Here are the text message exchanges between AE and me with a month of trying to get him to finish the job. Exact text. I included only one of the pictures below. * May 1, 2023 AE: Ill be there tomorrow morning. Me: Very good. I will be there. * May 2 AE: Yards complete. * May 12 Me: Checking back in because the job was NOT complete. The backyard was left undone because of ongoing rain. You said you would reschedule early the next week, but that never happened. Is there a plan to get the yard back into the schedule? Thanks AE: Yes ill go next week. Sorry about that. I'll check calendar this weekend. I believe tuesday of friday we have availability Me: It will be another foot and a half taller by Friday. Just saying. AE: No worries will take care of ya * Thursday, May 18 AE: Hello, will be there tomorrow for backyard lawn! * Friday, May 19 AE: Hey, we are not able to make it today. regardless of growth, we will still treat the back no extra cost. Next week please * Thursday, May 25 Me: Running out of "next week" soon. * Thursday, May 30 Me: I understand the unplanned rain many weeks ago that limited work to just my front yard. But after I hired him, it was so distressed and problematic to work with them, being dishonest and argumentative. Here are some reason out of many more: 1. During the first visit, he said he would send 4 worker for the project, in the end only his dad and another random worker onsite working, and his dad won't listen to our need and keep saying he knows everything and Eric himself is not supervising at all. The last day, random worker was not showing up and his dad brought his brother and another relative to finish the mulching and irrigation. 2. Before he got the job, he told me he needs to leave for 2 days during the process because of other jobs, I said okay, but it was a lie, he left for 12 days=2 weeks, finally get back on the site. That was a red flag that I missed, I should've fire them at that point to save me from more distress. 3. He said initially he would covert it to 2 valves zone irrigation for the whole area ( around 1550sqf, in total 65 plants), he quote is based on that. During the job he insisted on install only 1 valve, said it is okay , one is good enough for all the plants. And I paid $300 Extra for asking them put a underground valve box. 4. He said he would use sod cutter to remove the lawn during the first visit and end ups with weed whacking, I didn't even know until they started. I was not happy with it but I didn't complain at all. 5. I asked for 2x4'' pressured treated wood for the border, and he quote me based on it. During work told me that he has to change to plastic board, saying pressed treated wood won't bend! Why don't you say it before and made it clear? Why do you still quote me for it if you can't use it? 6. We have a slope are that is too high compared with the rest needed to be level down, he said it is too expensive to dump the dirt and his dad said i need to pay 6000$ more for remove the soil ! it is only a small area ( the highest point of the ground) needed to be level down, but no, they won't shovel it down and wanted me to pay 6000$ for it. 7. And all the debris from the lawn they put in on the street for the city, and he dad keep saying the city will take it away even though I questioned and said you better not, I was being polite to them. Still they just don't listen and put it on the street and said if the city don't take it and I will come and take it. 8. I paid 400 Extra for the drain pipe ( around 25 feet ) because he refuse to level down the highest ground. But the drain they installed, when it started to rain a few days ago, the water stuck around the area and flush away the mulch! I send him photos and called and explained, he said there is too much water and the solution is to put the Pop-Up Drainage Emitter next to the sidewalk. Again, why didn't you say that when I install it? Now he needs to charges me for fixing it and actually never get back to me with a quote. 9. Don't pay attention to details at all. All the border area is really messy because they didn't do proper digging at all around the border , the mulch won't stay below the ground or even the border. I told them to dig more but they didn't dig because they don't care. What kind of landscaping job is that? There are many other things happened which made the whole process stressful, and I don't think the job they do worth it. Honestly I will never recommend them and hire them again, and I regret that I did!

My husband would text the owner to ask for an official quote and he said he would write something up, but days later no response. I guess he didn't want our business. So we Yelped some turf companies to come and give us a quote. Osbaldo was the best priced and we scheduled with him the day of the quote. He was a few weeks out but that was fine since we had to get some other things done before he came to do the grass. Our project took 4 days. We originally had about 920 sq ft, but after the first day of him working we decided to add another 100 sq ft in the front yard. He was able to accomodate our change no problem. Osbaldo and his crew are very professional and kept the work site clean and organized. Osbaldo is also very responsive when we called or texted with questions. This is my first landscape project for my home and I have been talking with multiple landscaping companies and the reasons why I choose Cherrywood rather than the other companies are because 1). they replied back quickly, Eric basically called me the same day when I sent him my landscape design CAD plan and then schedule a time to meet (this is during the busy summer season for them). 2). They came personally to discuss any detail you like to do for your project and also provide their recommendations that will benefit you. 3). They provide you a detail quote so you can see what each things cost you so there is no surprises. There are some companies I can only get a quote of the total cost but without breakdown and that just not feel right. 4). Their crew members are really professional (Gabriel, Efran, Nicholas) as they always started on time and clean up the area each day when they finished. They also do very good detail job in installing the paver and turf. Also, they were able to work with me to avoid waking up my son's nap time during the day and that is really a plus! 5).
